I thought this thing had an accelerometer in it? It only goes from portrait to landscape instead of 360 degrees depending on when you turn it like my Pre? When holding the phone in your right hand and it is connected to the charger and on the net the damn cord gets in the way. Am i missing something here? You have got to be kidding me if there is no way to change this?

Ive had a rooted Alcatel One Touch Fierce for about a month. Just recently a Tmobile update downloaded and i installed it. My phone rebooted and ever since then my screen turns off or goes black everytime i turn the screen on. For example when i press the lock button to wake my phone it will display for at least a second then go black but the touch is still functional so id have to navigate by guessing where everything is then pop the screen on for a second to see where i am. The only exception is when i bring up my keyboard or edit settings like when a slider pops up for brightness. I can see the android startup screen until its fully rebooted and i can see the recovery mode. Ive reformatted my data and cache. It is also not the timeout setting. I cant find anything about this issue anywhere.

I hit the power button to turn the screen off & it lights right back up as soon as I hit it; I hit it again to cut it off, & again it turns right back on; then when I do get it to shut off, about a minute or 2 lata it turns on again & will stay on until I fight to turn it off. I'm jus checking before I hard reset it & see if there's an app causing this.

But once I'm in a call, the standby button will not turn the screen on, and no matter how many times I button mash all the soft keys, I get no response. However if my phone is feeling good, it'll show me the screen for a split second before hiding it again! This is a huge problem, I have no idea what the problem could be, as the standby button works fine when not in a call.. Anyone know what would be the reason? (Keep in mind, my HTC is literally a day old in my hands).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI dropped my phone and the screen won't turn on and doesn't respond to touch.The insurance company is picking it up tomorrow (*hence the urgency) and would like to get some stuff off it. Most stuff is on my exsd, so I'm not too worried if I have to wipe it, but would prefer only to wipe it once everything is off. I'm rooted and have a custom stock based rom and cwm installed.
Is there any way of doing this? I have the lock pattern enabled so when I plug it in nothing shows up.
If not, then how would I wipe it?
I bought a bricked Bruneau tablet and wanted to stock flash it. But the "script" named folder that i put it on the sdcard was for other kind of wonder media processor. I have a WM8505+ procesor and the software was for WM8605. Now the tablet does not turn on, black screen, no sound nothing. I saw on other forums and youtube that i can shortcircuit 2 pins from a Samsung chip on tablet motherboard but it`s not working.

I already use the Nova gesture+ScreenOff app to turn the screen off when I'm unlocked and at the homescreen, which works perfectly. I turned GPS on, opened Tinder, used it for few minutes, closed it and turned off GPS, removed Tinder from recent apps.
Next night, I see Tinder is the top battery consumer, with 1 day 9 hours of GPS use. GPS shows up as ON the entire time in the battery graph; while GPS tile is "off" in quick settings as well as locations services is also set to off.

I had seen exactly similar GPS hogging from Facebook and Maps too.
This exact same thing happens with Wi-Fi too. I had turned off Wi-Fi at night before going to sleep. But after returning from work the next day, I see in the battery graph that the Wi-Fi was on for the entire 17+ hours. And it still showed as "Off" in Quick settings tile and Wi-Fi settings page. The Wi-Fi definitely wasn't ON since as soon as I turned it on via QuickSetting tile, I got a flood of notifications. But there was considerable amount of battery drain, which is unusual when everything is off. Makes me think that the Wi-Fi was in fact ON. So, when I had turned Wi-Fi off at night, the phone only disconnected from the hotspot but still remained on.

Issue #64998 - The GPS bug was already reported by someone else in the Android project bug tracker. But it has low priority there and doesn't look like it will get addressed anytime soon.
How do you turn off just the phone so it doesn't it search? Am at church at no signal and I don't want to run down battery but I do have wi-fi.

I found out with juice plotter.The phone was at idle and i picked up to send out a text and and it was really warm to the touch.I took out the battery for an hour or so. Happens once or twice every couple of days (could be more often but I don't stare at it the whole time). No notifications or calls coming in. I suspect it maybe one of the apps syncing or something, but as this happens so rarely it's hard to determine which.
