For the last 2 1/2 months, briefly pressing on the top on/off button would turn off the screen, but today something has changed and this brief press no longer works. Any idea which setting controls this behavior? I looked everywhere I could think off, used Spare Parts--all to no avail.

I keep trying to turn the screen off after i send a text or check something but nothing happens. I have to wait for the screen to timeout for the phone to go black. It stopped working today.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI was waiting for Passion for months after reading posts here, literally coming here every day for rumor confirmed, but you all know that's history now. In the stock browser I can turn page by flicking finger on the screen, but isn't using hardware rocker much more precise? Is there a way to do that? In dolphin the rocker sort of does that, but it makes an annoying beep as well. I can turn off sound beforehand to avoid that, but it's easy to forget to turn up sound afterwards. I migrated from HTC 6800 (WM6), the rocker smartly only changes volume when using the phone, while in other situations it smartly turns page instead. Can Droid be up to that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that when they turn WiFi on through the widget (either android or motorola one) it doesn't always actually turn on wireless?
I usually have to go to WiFi settings and then once I do that it connects to my router. This will keep happening until I restart the phone and then the widget will work another 1-2 times and then I'll have to go into the settings menu until I restart again.
Unrelated: Has anyone else had their 3G dropout today or is it just me? I'm in the northeast.
I thought this thing had an accelerometer in it? It only goes from portrait to landscape instead of 360 degrees depending on when you turn it like my Pre? When holding the phone in your right hand and it is connected to the charger and on the net the damn cord gets in the way. Am i missing something here? You have got to be kidding me if there is no way to change this?

But once I'm in a call, the standby button will not turn the screen on, and no matter how many times I button mash all the soft keys, I get no response. However if my phone is feeling good, it'll show me the screen for a split second before hiding it again! This is a huge problem, I have no idea what the problem could be, as the standby button works fine when not in a call.. Anyone know what would be the reason? (Keep in mind, my HTC is literally a day old in my hands).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI dropped my phone and the screen won't turn on and doesn't respond to touch.The insurance company is picking it up tomorrow (*hence the urgency) and would like to get some stuff off it. Most stuff is on my exsd, so I'm not too worried if I have to wipe it, but would prefer only to wipe it once everything is off. I'm rooted and have a custom stock based rom and cwm installed.
Is there any way of doing this? I have the lock pattern enabled so when I plug it in nothing shows up.
If not, then how would I wipe it?
I bought a bricked Bruneau tablet and wanted to stock flash it. But the "script" named folder that i put it on the sdcard was for other kind of wonder media processor. I have a WM8505+ procesor and the software was for WM8605. Now the tablet does not turn on, black screen, no sound nothing. I saw on other forums and youtube that i can shortcircuit 2 pins from a Samsung chip on tablet motherboard but it`s not working.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI don't know what I have done, but the power button on the top, which I used to be able to press to turn off the screen, no longer works. I can use it to turn on the screen. And I can hold it on to power down, airplane mode, etc. But pressing it once does nothing when the screen is lit up. I have tried wiping all data from the boot menu. This restores the functionality, but when I restore all my data and apps (MyBackupPro) the problem returns.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOver the past two days I've had a recurring problem with my Moment - the screen no longer shuts off when I press the Off or End Call button. This is a pain because buttons end up being pressed when I slip the phone in to my pocket. I'm running the official 2.1 update and have been since the week after it came out, and I haven't had this problem before. I can't seem to figure it out. The button still works to turn the screen on, and will still turn of the screen if it's at the lock screen, but at the home screen or in an app, nothing happens when pressing the button. This was a little awkward today when the body heat through my shorts opened up my Alarm Clock app and started playing the various alarm clock ringtones!

Anyone else having a problem of not having the screen turn on when you press the power button from sleep? It doesn't happen often but it does happen. This is my second Captivate as my last one would shut itself off randomly and that phone also had this problem.Yes, I make sure I pressed the power button and waited a couple seconds to make sure it just wasn't lag but I can guarantee you it is not. Like I said, it doesn't happen all the time but maybe once every 2 days. I'm guessing it's a slight problem with other users as it happened on my last phone but I'm not sure. Hopefully it's a software issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am an avid rom flasher, i had just switched to bb0.4 yesterday and was fixing it all up, i aid it to rest on its charging dock as i do every night at about 4 am, i had my alarm set for 9, i slept so good, but woke upo and it was 11? glad i did not have to work. But my screen is blank, i picked my droid up and hit the power button, the M comes up and then going into BB's quickboot, then it goes blank, i try again, same M then quick boot, then blank. NOw nothing, i cannot get the screen to turn on for the life of the phone, plugged in or not.Its dead...... The white light comes on when i have it pluged in right under the usb port, but im so sad, i have an original release day droid thats been running great and working with ulv kernals like a king, i was runnning in the 1700's for mflops, 1366 in quadrant, im hurt....i dont want no stupid refurb....Is there anything i can do, what does a phone do when its bricked? are these signs of being bricked? There is something very odd about this story, i bought two droids on nov 6th, one for me and a friend, he stayed stock, me aggressively rooted and his did the same exact thing last week, his died out of the blue but he had dropped it on the floor and never turned on again, just same white light under the usb port...any help would be great before i get something new. By the end of this letter i switched batteries with friends refurb droid and OMG my droid booted right up! I am so happy, now where can i get a new battery like NOW...Sorry for the long sad story but at least it has a good ending.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have suspected this on every ROM I have run (stock 2.1, all tranquility roms, and now rubix 0.3 (which I love except the single unexpected shutdown of the phone once).
My screen just doesn't turn off no matter what the settings/display/screen timeout is set to (30 sec, 1 min...)
I test it by turning on the phone, sliding to unlock and then staring at my homescreen with a stopwatch. It can be 5-10 minutes before it turns off.
I have interrogated with spareparts and the phone does have a high percentage of "running" from bluetooth and wifi, but isn't the screen supposed to shut off even with those background processes running??
I don't have anything special installed for power management, just stock stuff.
I went to the market and found some power managers but I don't have any confidence a third party app will solve this problem.
Im sure this has already been asked but are there any apps out there that turns off the slide to unlock/draw pattern to unlock screen? Its getting annoying to have to press the power button and then have to deal with a lock pattern. Ideally I would like to press the button and go.
