General :: Calibrate Vertical G-Sensor

May 8, 2012

My Samsung Tab just fall in the floor and now it loose the rotate functionality. After going to setting's -> horizontal calibrate. I've managed to make it rotate but only landscape.

1 - Is it possible to have only the vertical sensor broken ?
2 - Is there a way to calibrate way vertical, as the only option availabe is horizontal ?

All the level/bublle app's show's horizontal rotation but no vertical.

HTC Incredible :: Screen Shifted / What To Do Now?

May 5, 2010

First I gotta say, I love this phone, it's fast and fun to use. There's been a few little annoying things, but I'm sure they'll get fixed soon enough. Anyways, so I just got done mixing some music really loud in my room, I looked at my phone and the screen has shifted...teh hax I didn't touch it for over a hour, and it was fine before. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as well.

I haven't tried restarting it yet, I was about to go to Verizon to get my case replaced anyways.

I thought this thing had an accelerometer in it? It only goes from portrait to landscape instead of 360 degrees depending on when you turn it like my Pre? When holding the phone in your right hand and it is connected to the charger and on the net the damn cord gets in the way. Am i missing something here? You have got to be kidding me if there is no way to change this?

Samsung Moment : Screen Touch Accuracy / Way To Calibrate It

Nov 16, 2009

First of all I searched and couldn't find anything on this. Is anyone else having an issue with the screen not being very accurate? The on screen keyboard seems fine for me, but choosing something such as a link in the web browser is a little off on my phone.

An example would be opening www.wsmv.com (my local news), then trying to click on news on the left hand side...instead of news, it will choose what is below it (in this case weather). I thought it was my fat fingers, but others who have tried my phone experience the same issue. I was just wondering if it was just me? Any way to calibrate the screen?

Android :: No Light Sensor / Proximity Sensor Detected On Hero?

Feb 8, 2010

I have a HTC Hero here, and when I tried to get the list of available sensors on the device by calling ((SensorManager) getSystemService (Context.SENSOR_SERVICE)) .getSensorList(Sensor.TYPE_ALL); I get only the following sensors: D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: BMA150 3-axis Accelerometer, handle=0 D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: AK8973 3-axis Magnetic field sensor, handle=1 D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: AK8973 Orientation sensor, handle=2 D/SensorManager( 6302): found sensor: AK8973 Temperature sensor, handle=3 According to the specs, there should be a light and a proximity sensor on the Hero, and I've seen it in action (the automatic screen brightness adjustment) - so at least the ambient light sensor is definitely there. My question is then, why doesn't the getSensorList return for me the light and the proximity sensors?

Motorola Droid :: Screen Timeout / Sensor?

Nov 8, 2009

I've read through the deluge of threads that have sprung up since Friday's Droid release. However, I have only seen this issue listed within longer conversations about frustrations. I wouldn't call this a frustration as much as I would a quirkiness of the Moto Droid that I'm hoping some similarly-annoyed person out there has developed an app to overcome this.

The issue is with the screen lock and the auto-dimming on the phone. The first issue with the lock screen is not a device-specific issue as far as I can tell, but it is insanely annoying not to have a lock timeout setting within the OS. I should not have to unlock my phone every single time the screen dims from the timeout setting. Every other phone I've ever owned that has a screen lock does not have this limitation and, if someone were to mention that the iPhone has the same issue, I would point out that they suck.

As for the other issue, and the far worse one, how in the world is the proximity sensor when on a call so damn finicky!? I have read this complaint multiple times on various forums, but no concise list of solutions. The screen goes black when you have the phone to your ear, but when you move it away from your ear, the screen should *consistently* re-light so the user can have access to the keypad, etc.. This is not working at all as I would expect. I did find an app in the marketplace that allows you to set the screen timeouts by application, but if I set it to not timeout on the phone app, the screen will stay lit when I have the phone to my ear, which would defeat the whole purpose.

This seems like a huge bug to have missed in all the testing that occurred before releasing the phone, especially for such a basic feature. I expect customers to go nuts on Verizon for this one (my fiance is far from a technical user and has the Droid and has yelled at me to "fix it" referring to this problem..

HTC Desire :: Use Proximity Sensor To Disable Screen While In Pocket

Jun 8, 2010

I've experienced the problem that when the desire is in my pocket and I receive a notification, the screen gets accidentally unlocked and the phone starts doing things that I don't want it to do. I know I can add an unlock pattern so that it won't unlock as easily but this is at the expense of me having to enter it even in situations I would not have needed it. So I thought that maybe we could use the proximity sensor to tell the phone to never unlock the screen if an object is close to the phone. Quickly looking at the android docs, it seems that the support for this is in the SDK, but I was wondering if anyone had created an application that does this. If time permits, I might even have a look at doing it myself, but as I'm very new to Android development, it will take me quite a long time to get to a usable state, hence my question about an existing app that does this.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Light Sensor And Screen Intensity Linearity

Dec 30, 2009

I've noticed that when viewing the screen in a darkened room that the screen is actually too dark. Yet in a normal setting that the screen is correctly lit. I've tried increasing the intensity to maximum with the sensor enabled and it's still to dark in the darkened room. Now, I've disabled the sensor entirely and the screen just runs wide open all the time - day or night.

Has anyone else felt that it was too dark in the darkened setting? I'm wondering if there is a setting (probably not yet written for the phone/OS) to vary how linear the light sensor is at darker levels? Maybe a 'minimum darkness' adjustment?

HTC Droid Eris :: Screen Replacement Seems To Have Broken Proximity Sensor

Oct 6, 2010

I bought and installed a new screen (digitizer) in my Eris. The install went very well but now the proximity sensor doesn't seem to work properly. Most times when I place a call the screens goes blank and won't respond to any button inputs, Once the other party hangs up I get the screen back. But even this is erratic at times, not often, with the screen staying on all the time.

I installed Screebl Lite to force the screen on all the time and it works most of the time but seems to have a hard time figuring out the proximity sensor too.

Is there something I could have done to screw up the sensor when I took the phone apart? Everything else is working fine.
