Since I've bought the hero I have not installed a task manager and I would see it getting a little more laggy or choppy. So I decided to install task killer, my phone is back to being the way it was when I first got it. I know the rumors and all but I do think task manager is the way to go from 90mp free to 180mb.

I currently run TasKiller because I find my phone gets SOOO SLOW. I back all the way out of apps but I still have trouble.
Is this still an issue for those with some form of 2.1 or am I doing something wrong? Is there maybe a better way of managing my system resources without killing apps?
Does anyone have a statement released from Google or someone within Google telling the consumers to avoid Task Managers on Android devices.I went into VZW, trying to get an additional battery (usually if u complain they send u an additional battery) because I'm getting 5-7 hours out of my battery even when I'm careful and try to stretch my battery. So the women asked questions, do u use Wifi...NEVER, don't even turn it on. Brightness? It's 1/8th of the way on to full brightness, Task manager?No Google said not to use one..So she wouldn't send me a battery because she said that its because I don't use a task manager.I was telling her Google had advised us not to and she said, that's false that Google has approved them to put task managers on people's phones who are having battery problems.(I don't believe that)I looked around Google and could only find it from joe-shomes but couldn't find a statement from Google. Can anyone provide a statement from Google that advises us not to use task managers?

I tried to stop using the task managers on the hero, but I noticed a quite a bit of lag once stuff kept building up. On the Moment, I was running into several issues with apps, and I figured it was due to the task manager (i use advance task manager). So to test my theory I stopped using the task manager and the device works as it should. What i found was that even with a lot of usage, this device does not slow down. Not sure if it's the lack of the sense ui (i'm using open home), the fast processor, both or what but this phone can handle everything I'm throwing at it.My advice, stop using whatever task killer you're using. One less thing to worry about makes for a better phone experience.

I know that the ability to turn Sense off without rooting the phone exists on the Evo, but from what I've heard that feature doesn't actually turn it off, but only hides it. Can someone in the know, or who already received their Evo clarify any benefits received from turning off Sense? Aesthetics aside.

The Android SDK says that the Application.onTerminate() method isn't called when the OS kills an app due to scarce resources. So it sounds like the OS doesn't cleanly close apps and that it does exactly what the much-debated task killers do. If they do the same thing, then task killers don't do any more harm than the OS itself, right?

My question is does flashing new radio files and pellet files actually increase and or decrease how well the radio works on the phone. I noticed hat once I installed wireless tether that my WiFi signal seems to go down 1 or 2 bars when the laptop is not even 10 feet away. Is thus normal. Anyway I'm very knew to the whole flashing of radio files and just wanted to hear if it does anything or not.

I don't want to lose any data (pictures, texts, etc) and I don't want to lose any apps. I've read a bunch of threads and it sounds like this is the general order I should proceed in:
1 - Backup data with MyBackupPro
2 - Root
3 - Backup apps with Titanium Backup
4 - Install ROM
Is this correct? Am I missing anything? Will the root method or ROM make a difference in terms of the process?
I took my phone in today to get it checked out and the Verizon rep said that Android 2.2 is being tested on the Eris. Am not sure if he was being serious or was trying to make me feel happy

Verizon Wireless to store managers: Wednesday is a big day Boy Genius Report..Reason to be excited again. What if it's a possible announcement on 2.1 for either the Droid or the Eris or both? Nothing's official yet, at least about what the conference concerns, but two different sources have said this so it looks like it's true. If it is about the iPhone hitting Verizon, they may still weasel in some small tidbits about other stuff, Android included.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using Task Panel X and Advanced Task manager to kill unneeded tasks and keep memory at a maximum.
Recently, every time I open Task Panel X and then revert back to Home screen I get the HTC logo and then a loading screen while the device sets itself. This happens even if I kill NO tasks.
So my solution was to uninstall Task Panel X and then use just Advanced Task Manager. All the sudden, same result.
Everytime I open either of these apps and then go back to home screen I get a BLACK SCREEN WITH HTC LOGO, THEN A BRIEF (10 SECONDS) LOADING SCREEN. THEN ALL IS NORMAL.
I'm writing an android program for adding task and deleting task in listview. I've add an onClickListener to the delete button so it can delete the task. However I was told I should not have the listener in the adapter violating mvc. how I can remove a task in my TaskListItem class. I got the method removeTask() in the adapter, but don't how I can use it in the TaskListItem class.

1. what is the difference between a task killer and a task manager?
2. should we be using one of these apps or not?
3. when you look at the awake time if it is like 70% or 80% and you aren't using the phone a bunch I take it that means something is running,how can you find what is running.and is the awake time that big of deal?
