HTC EVO 4G :: Task Managers Make Difference - Tested

Jun 25, 2010

Since I've bought the hero I have not installed a task manager and I would see it getting a little more laggy or choppy. So I decided to install task killer, my phone is back to being the way it was when I first got it. I know the rumors and all but I do think task manager is the way to go from 90mp free to 180mb.

HTC Droid Eris :: Task Managers On V3 / OTA

May 14, 2010

I currently run TasKiller because I find my phone gets SOOO SLOW. I back all the way out of apps but I still have trouble.

Is this still an issue for those with some form of 2.1 or am I doing something wrong? Is there maybe a better way of managing my system resources without killing apps?

Android :: Anyone Have A Statement From Google Saying NOT To Use Task Managers?

Aug 1, 2010

Does anyone have a statement released from Google or someone within Google telling the consumers to avoid Task Managers on Android devices.I went into VZW, trying to get an additional battery (usually if u complain they send u an additional battery) because I'm getting 5-7 hours out of my battery even when I'm careful and try to stretch my battery. So the women asked questions, do u use Wifi...NEVER, don't even turn it on. Brightness? It's 1/8th of the way on to full brightness, Task manager? No Google said not to use one..So she wouldn't send me a battery because she said that its because I don't use a task manager.I was telling her Google had advised us not to and she said, that's false that Google has approved them to put task managers on people's phones who are having battery problems.(I don't believe that)I looked around Google and could only find it from joe-shomes but couldn't find a statement from Google. Can anyone provide a statement from Google that advises us not to use task managers?

Samsung Moment :: Stopped Using Task Killers / Managers

Nov 22, 2009

There's a thread similar to this on one of the Hero forums. I tried to stop using the task managers on the hero, but I noticed a quite a bit of lag once stuff kept building up. On the Moment, I was running into several issues with apps, and I figured it was due to the task manager (i use advance task manager). So to test my theory I stopped using the task manager and the device works as it should. What i found was that even with a lot of usage, this device does not slow down. Not sure if it's the lack of the sense ui (i'm using open home), the fast processor, both or what but this phone can handle everything I'm throwing at it.My advice, stop using whatever task killer you're using. One less thing to worry about makes for a better phone experience.

I was just thinking about my SIM card (Orange UK) and whether it would be a good idea to request a new SIM as I've had this SIM for nearly 8 years I think now. Would it make any difference to the signal and/or the performance in any way or is it not worth it?

HTC EVO 4G :: Will Turning Off Sense Make Difference?

May 26, 2010

Since Sense is extra drag on the phone, and the Evo has some reported lag issues, I was wondering if turning Sense off will make a difference as far as speed and battery life. I know that the ability to turn Sense off without rooting the phone exists on the Evo, but from what I've heard that feature doesn't actually turn it off, but only hides it. Can someone in the know, or who already received their Evo clarify any benefits received from turning off Sense? Aesthetics aside.

Android :: Difference Between Task Killer And Android OS Killing An Application

Sep 29, 2010

Is there any difference between what happens when you use a Task Killer App to kill an app vs. what happens when the Android OS kills an app due to scarce resources? The Android SDK says that the Application.onTerminate() method isn't called when the OS kills an app due to scarce resources. So it sounds like the OS doesn't cleanly close apps and that it does exactly what the much-debated task killers do. If they do the same thing, then task killers don't do any more harm than the OS itself, right?

HTC EVO 4G :: Flashing New Radio Files Really Make Any Difference

Sep 30, 2010

I have a rooted evo running fresh 3.3.3.1 and so far I love it. I used unrevoked 3.21 to do this. My question is does flashing new radio files and pellet files actually increase and or decrease how well the radio works on the phone. I noticed hat once I installed wireless tether that my WiFi signal seems to go down 1 or 2 bars when the laptop is not even 10 feet away. Is thus normal. Anyway I'm very knew to the whole flashing of radio files and just wanted to hear if it does anything or not.

Motorola Droid :: Root Method / ROM Make A Difference Interms Of Process?

Sep 16, 2010

I have a non-rooted Motorola Droid running 2.2 and I want to root to try out a ROM. I want to make sure I do this right. I don't want to lose any data (pictures, texts, etc) and I don't want to lose any apps. I've read a bunch of threads and it sounds like this is the general order I should proceed in:
1 - Backup data with MyBackupPro
2 - Root
3 - Backup apps with Titanium Backup
4 - Install ROM
Is this correct? Am I missing anything? Will the root method or ROM make a difference in terms of the process?

General :: How Do Startup Managers Work

May 11, 2014

I was watching a video on "best apps of 2014" on YouTube, and a startup manager was one of them.

I downloaded it and tried it out with Skype, rebooted, Skype wasn't under the running apps, barely anything was actually. i thought it worked with the skype, until i rebooted the phone again with nothing selected to not start at startup, and all the same - few - visible processes were running. disable some of the rarely used but always running background processes. for example, a game that i use and enjoy, but not every day and would like it to run upon my request. thats what i thought startup manager would do.

I am having too many confusions in native coding for android. My application wants to play mms:// stream and I'm facing some serious problems in that. But the basic question is:
What is the difference between ndk-build (that I usually use) and make APP (I have seen many blogs on them one of them is this). Another related question:
Suppose my project is in E:WorkSpacemmsTestsAnotherMMS (path edited if you want to test : it contained whitespace) And my ndk path is D:android-ndk-r4b-windowsandroid-ndk-r4b. How can I use make APP with cygwin? My OS is windows XP SP2. I have added ndk location in my PATH variable.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Task Panel X - Advanced Task Manager - Causing Errors

Nov 7, 2009

I've been using Task Panel X and Advanced Task manager to kill unneeded tasks and keep memory at a maximum.

Recently, every time I open Task Panel X and then revert back to Home screen I get the HTC logo and then a loading screen while the device sets itself. This happens even if I kill NO tasks.

So my solution was to uninstall Task Panel X and then use just Advanced Task Manager. All the sudden, same result.

Everytime I open either of these apps and then go back to home screen I get a BLACK SCREEN WITH HTC LOGO, THEN A BRIEF (10 SECONDS) LOADING SCREEN. THEN ALL IS NORMAL.
