Jun 10, 2010Is there a way to have the screen automatically switch to full-brightness when the Evo is plugged in? A reason for this would be for car navigation.

View 6 RepliesThis is not a perfect solution but it does give a work around to the fact that, even though you can set the phone to not have the screen shut off when plugged in, you still have the problem of it dimming to lowest setting. Anyway, what I did to fix this was to download a program on the app store called keep screen. It gives you the option to make it so that the screen doesn't time out or dim for certain apps. What I did was just go in and select all apps and tell it to not dim on any of them.
Then on the front page of this app there is a button to "start/stop service" I use this button like a toggle. If my phone is plugged in I toggle that button and toggle it off when I unplug. It is not a perfect solution and requires manually doing the toggling but it's the best solution I have found to keep the screen and brightness up when my phone is plugged in. Anyway, just thought I would share in case anyone else was looking for a solution for this. Also, if anyone has found a better way of doing this i would love to hear it.
Anyone know a way (or an app) that will change the brightness depending on whether the phone is plugged in or not. I would like it to on full brightness all the time when the USB is plugged in, but use auto-brightness when running on battery.

It doesn't matter if I set to 30% or 100%, the brightness stays the same.I can only adjust the brightness from 0 to 25%. I already did and wipe and stiched a phone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I text "unplugged" (power cord) the touch screen is normal, responsive, and usable. When I text "plugged" in, the screen acts like there is a "force field" on top of it, in other words I have to put more pressure on the screen to be able to use the on screen keyboard. Haven't noticed it on surfing or doing other things, just the on screen keyboard. It just started recently and just seems weird. I have the HTC EVO, pretty much standard, normal updates, etc. Haven't updated anything in a couple of weeks, but this just started. Not a show stopper but a little annoying is all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been keeping the phone plugged into the wall charger all night when I sleep, and by the time I hit lunch hour the battery is nearly dead. I've had it hooked up to my USB port for nearly 8 hours and the battery is still only 10%, and as i post this thread i got a message "Battery is low. the charging current is not enough for device power consumption. please switch to AC power" I nly have a USB cable here at the office. is this low current USB the cause of poor charging? the phone is getting very warm too.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt still says 'charge only' and not 'disk drive', yet when I plug it in I can still open the folder for Evo to view contents and on the phone itself, the SD card is unavailable.
I don't know what exactly I did to cause this. Its especially strange since it says charge only on the phone. Are there any common setting or app culprits for this?
I get a notification when the USB is plugged in. Does anyone know where to change this. Just can't seem to find it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have my evo plugged into my computer via USB and I never got the screen asking what I wanted to do, i.e. use as disk drive, just charge, etc. I tried unplugging and plugging back it, still nothing. Also nothing in the notification bar. I've tried 2 different plugs and same thing happens. It's not showing up on my computer either but it is charging according the the phone. I'm trying to copy some movies onto my phone and now I can't because I can't make is a disk drive.

I looked over and the phone had obviously rebooted itself. This is the only time this has happened to my DINC. I don't find anything out of the ordinary on the phone. Any clues why it would reboot itself without being asked?

View 20 Replies View RelatedI was able to root my phone with this method when everything else failed. Try this if you have had trouble with other methods. I did not discover this, I heard it from someone on IRC (forgot who).
1. With your phone booted up and plugged in via USB, type adb reboot recovery.
2. Start your adb shell loop (using the while loop or bat file).
3. Click in and out your SD card repeatedly while the phone is booting into recovery (apparently every 0.5 sec will do).
4. Watch for "- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -" to appear in your terminal
5. Follow the rest of the instructions at public:adb_in_recovery [RootWiki]
Has anyone had this problem on their Evo? It seems to work if the phone is off the charger but when I charge it overnight and have it set to wake me up in the morning it doesn't go off. And I have downloaded a new alarm app and tested it off the charger and on it and it as well only works when the phone is off the charger.
View 14 Replies View RelatedYesterday I exchanged my Eris for a new one because the screen brightness on my old one was too dim. Now I notice that when I plug in the phone to charge, the phone stays awake. On my first phone it would just go to sleep when charging so my awake time was usually around 15-20%. When I took my new phone off the charger this morning it was up to 58% . My gf's Eris also sleeps when being charged so I'm thinking mine is the exception now. I'm thinking of calling Verizon tech support later but wanted to see if this happens to anyone else here.

It is especially important since I have to type in a password each time to access the screen due to my work email security requirements (it's almost not worth it).

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've heard that today's batteries' health depends on how many cycles they have gone through, and considering this it should be wise to leave the phone plugged in while fully charged and under heavy use. This way you will delay the cycle and get a "healthier" battery. This was just MY theory and I was not too sure about it. Please correct me if I am wrong.
