General :: ICSSGS RC 4.2 - Display Auto Brightness
Apr 8, 2012I have switched from Android 2.3.6 to 4.0.3 (ICSSGS RC 4.2) on my Samsung Galaxy S.
All I need works fine but there is one thing I wonder. The automatic regulation of the display brightness is very dark compared to the old 2.3.6.
Now I wonder ist this an Android 4.0.3 or ICSSGS feature? Is there a way to increase the offset for this feature a little bit. Sure I can turn it off and use manually brighness, but that's not what I want.

Dec 9, 2009Are these the same? I have searched the forum, and can't seem to find the answer. I don't find any "auto brightness" setting in the settings menu on the Hero. I have auto backlight unchecked. What exactly does this do? Is this the screen dimming? Sorry, I am confused. Uh oh! Must be a senior moment!
While I am showing off photos I have on my phone, the screen dims...how do I keep this from happening?
Also, relating to photos..when I go to "Albums", I have 4 folders listed...Camera Shots, All Photos, etc. When I take a pictures with the phone camera, they seems to be in both folders. Why?

Oct 16, 2010My wife and I have been having the same problem. We keep the auto-brightness option checked, but every so often we find that it goes back to manual mode--and it always reverts the phone back to full brightness setting. Any ideas why this would happen?

Mar 15, 2012I've had this problem ever since installed then uninstalled avast and the antitheft bit that sometimes youtube won't play videos.The app shows the videos available and I can search but when you click to play all you get is the spinning circle.
It doesn't happen often and a restart of phone always fixed it before but now that's not working.Cleared cache etc but nothings working. What can cause this and how to sort it?
Its a stock rooted gb rom and only happened when avasts hidden app didn't uninstall after getting superuser rights and I had to freeze the hidden app then uninstall it with titanium backup. It did say (avast) something about doing something to nand.

Sep 15, 2013Ever since the most recent YouTube update (5.0.21), any time I try to open a link to a video (might be all FLV videos) in Facebook Chat, whether it's the actual Facebook app or Messenger, it doesn't work.
It tries to open in Gallery, and gives me a "Can't play this video" error.I've tried different ROMs, different kernels, etc... with the same results.

General :: Black Bar On Bottom When Playing Full Screen Content
May 24, 2013in some apps (such as VLC, Flash player, the stock video player, etc), there appears to be a small black bar at the bottom where the status bar usually is (even if it's hidden, there's still a black bar). I've had a research and saw a solution app called 'full!screen', however I have no way of rooting the device (It's an Android TV box with no USB output, only input). My current solution is to use MX Player, but it doesn't play 1080p videos properly, so I'd really prefer VLC at this point.

Apr 27, 2013I commute to school underground with no service for roughly 1.5 hours. During that time, I like to watch youtube videos. Besides TubeMate, is there any Android app (or any method on Android) to download youtube videos AUTOMATICALLY? I want to have the videos download while I sleep so it is available to me when I wake up and get ready. Right now I manually download some videos using TubeMate (when I remember).
I did have another setup using "youtube-dl" program on linux and setting up a cron job to download the latest video from a channel. I would then upload this to dropbox and then redownload it on my Android using FolderSync app.
Any better way to auto download new videos from youtube channels. I have a Galaxy S3.
General :: Android YouTube Apps Stops Playing Music If Screen Is Off Or Going To Background
Mar 17, 2013When playing music with the stock Music Player application on my phone and turning the phone screen off or multitasking, the music is still able to play in the background. Is it possible to do the same with the stock YouTube app? I want to let the audio of the YouTube video I am watching to keep playing when I either exit out of the app or when I press the power button on my phone to turn off the screen to save battery. Although I can just set my phone screen to not go off when idle for a certain amount of time, but then again, that is battery consuming.
Phone information:
-Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G from T-Mobile
-Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4
-Rooted
-No Custom Rom Installed
HTC Incredible :: Phone Stay On At Full Brightness When Plugged In?
May 27, 2010This is not a perfect solution but it does give a work around to the fact that, even though you can set the phone to not have the screen shut off when plugged in, you still have the problem of it dimming to lowest setting. Anyway, what I did to fix this was to download a program on the app store called keep screen. It gives you the option to make it so that the screen doesn't time out or dim for certain apps. What I did was just go in and select all apps and tell it to not dim on any of them.
Then on the front page of this app there is a button to "start/stop service" I use this button like a toggle. If my phone is plugged in I toggle that button and toggle it off when I unplug. It is not a perfect solution and requires manually doing the toggling but it's the best solution I have found to keep the screen and brightness up when my phone is plugged in. Anyway, just thought I would share in case anyone else was looking for a solution for this. Also, if anyone has found a better way of doing this i would love to hear it.

Sep 22, 2009I wondered how everyone set their brightness - I was comparing my Hero with my wife's iPhone at home last night and the Hero was a lot dimmer in comparison because of the auto-brightness. I disabled it for the first time and cranked up to brightness and the display looked so much better - I just wondered what others thought about this and whether battery life would be affected greatly turning up the brightness.

Jul 8, 2010So I just got my phone two days ago and I have auto brightness set which works well. What I do notice though, and it might just be in my head because I read the issues with the pink hue on the screens, is the following.When using the phone normally it looks great, the screen looks really nice. When you place the phone down and have the screen timeout set (I have mine set to one minute) a few seconds before it goes to sleep mode it dims the screen, and if I'm on my main home screen it looks fine, however, if I'm on a page where there is a lot of white like a white background, it seems as though the screen takes on a weird hue right before it shuts off. I wouldn't say it is a pink hue, but it is definitely a weird hue. It isn't that big of a deal because like I said, it only happens before the screen automatically times out. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, what are your settings (screen timeout time, is auto brightness on or off)?

(I know root isn't done or even close) But here's a little request for someone whose good with code and making apps: I am looking for someone to create a custom auto brightness app that lets you set the max and min for the the auto brightness on the Incredible. I like the auto feature on the Incredible, but it gets way too high and drains the battery too quickly So I would like to have an app that lets you set like EX: 5% as the minimum brightness and 40% as the maximum. Make it so you have have ajustable bars to move back and forth to pick your percentage or something along the lines of that. I think if someone managed to work some code and create this app it'd be heavily downloaded. So I was wondering if someone could make an app like this?Anyone good with this stuff and want to try and work with the brightness settings and make an app like this or apk.?

Sep 28, 2010Since 2.2, I don't do the auto brightness cause its always to dark from my taste so I shut that off and set it around "o" in automatic for the setting. Almost every time I re-wake the phone up its at full damn brightness and when I go into the settings it is still at my setting if I touch it it quickly dims to where it is suppose to be. Also I can get there by hitting the power button and re-waking it a couple times. Is anyone else having the issue and how do u resolve it. I have done a cache clear and factory reset then I also did is all again "Fabrian" way.
