LG Ally :: Not Powering Down When Plugged In
Jun 4, 2010
Has anyone else noticed this? I got my wife an ALLY, she loves it. When I went to charge it, I powered it down and and when I plugged it in, the phone took it upon itself to start back up. Not a real issue, but I find it a bit odd.

It seems that I am unable to fully power off my DI. Here's what I'm doing:Hold down the power button until the popup menu appears Select "Power off" Select "OK" The phone then says its shutting down. The screen goes black for about 5 secs, then it powers back up and goes through the boot process.

just got a Droid Eris a few weeks ago. All of a sudden, on a somewhat regular basis (4-5x in last week), the phone will just shut off and the only way to turn it back on is to remove the battery. This occurs even when the battery is not even close to empty (today, for example, an hour after coming off the charger all night).
This is quite a troublesome issue, and before I decide what to do regarding keeping it, exchanging it for a new one, or returning it and holding out for the N1 or Incredible, I'd like to see if anyone has input regarding this issue.

Does anyone know how to fix this? It'll come on and just stay at the Samsung logo screen. It's not frozen because the logo is glowing on and off. But it never gets past that screen!

We just swapped my wife's Fascinate it for a new one because it was buggy on her. Got the new phone in last night and all seemed to be going well. She used it until the battery was gone and plugged it in. Well, I just powered it on and got this.

today i've recived a phone (M-Horse N9000W), i've put in the SIM, SD card, powered up perfectly, found network, used if for a little, tryed to install Google Maps, that required some aditional app google play i think or smth like that, and when it was downloading that it froze and went dark. I tryed to take out the battery, change the battery, to charge it and nothing... i don't think the phone got any LED on front cause nothing is lightin up.. i've removed the battery wille the phone was plugged to usb and used a measuring tool and the phone gets power... it just won't start. Tryed holding vol up home and power, vol down home power, home and power, vol up and power, vol down and power... nothing. i've plugged in too see if odin recognize it and... nope . Is there a solution or i have to send it back, only the downside to this is that i have to send it to China from Europe and it will take a lot of time.

My boyfriend and I bought Milestones from Telus last week and have noticed when we go to use our phone in the morning it's already powered on. Last night I turned it off and 20-30 minutes later it powered itself back on. Is this because I need to log out of apps? (facebook, gtalk, etc) Or is there some option I'm just not finding?

So I thought I heard something that you should power down your smartphone each night. Is this something I should be doing? And is it just that turning it off and then back on?

I've searched this forum, but couldn't find the post that is same problem as mine, so I'm hoping you guys could help me out.I updated my HTC Desire a week ago to Froyo, and was having no trouble until today, when I plugged my headphones into my Desire, I couldn't change its volume when I played the music on the device. Even I pressed the volume controls on the left, it didn't change. It stayed in loud volume. I went to setting on Desire, and changed the media volume, but still nothing. I did the Factory data reset twice today, but still having the same problem. Also, this has nothing to do with the volume issue, but I cannot turn my cell phone off. Every time I tried to turn it off by pressing the button on the left top, it once does turn off, but few seconds later, it turns on automatically. I didn't know if I should create two different threads for each of them or not.

I have just done a nand backup, then unrooted (downgrade), then used Unrevoked to root and did a nand restore. Btw that took forever! Anyway after it was said and done the phone rebooted, and viola everything was back on there. The only hitch is since I have done the restore my phone has shut off by itself 3 times. I was ever so reluctant about doing the whole Unrevoked process and this is why. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Update: It hasn't turned off since after the third time so I guess it's stable now.

I'm having with my Matrix One tablet. I'm getting an exclamation mark inside of a triangle, inside of a battery icon. The issue started after I let the battery completely die out. I can't get past that screen. When pressing power the battery icon shows up and the tablet shuts down a second later. I tried all button combinations to get into recovery, nothing worked. I've also tried charging the tablet.
There was one thing I managed to do, that was get the tablet to show up on my computer. I held down the update button with a needle and then held the power button until a blue light indicating the tablet was on showed up. The screen was black but my computer detected a new device. My computer didn't find any drivers for the tablet, so I went in search of them myself and couldn't find any. My tablet is A10 compatible, but none of the A10 drivers I found seem to work on my tablet when I go to manually update it through device manager, neither does the PDAnet method I found online.
I was able to find a recovery that works on my device, one that will allow me to reset my tablet, if I'm able to boot into recovery after I get it on my tablet. Now in order to even test the other recovery I need drivers for my device so ADB can detect it and I can push the recovery. My device is already rooted with Superuser updated to the latest build.
I'll add that I've even taken the liberty of opening up the tablet to see if I can disconnect the battery from the board to cut all power, as I'm unable to do that because the batteries are connected by soldered red and black cables.

I rooted my Desire HD succesfully and had no problem flashing roms and learned a little about rooted device abilities. However, no matter which rom i used, when trying to power down the phone it would power off and boot into clockwork mod. I could never actually power the device off. I now have a Note 2 that i would like to root but I am worried I wont be able to power off my Note.

I can't be 100% sure which one it is. But I installed Nonsensikal 13.2 about a week ago, love it, and was about to basically settle on this as my default rom until Saturday. Starting Saturday my phone has become non-responsive about 5-6 times. Meanin the lock screen won't come on, and the power button will not turn the phone on or off.I'm assuming this means that the phone is still on when this happens, because if it had just powered down randomly I'd think the power button would turn the phone back on I have to pull the battery out and power it back on to start working again. I don't have setcpu or autokiller running, but I am running juicedefender (in case any of that is helpful for anybody.)

My LG Ally is stuck at the "VELOCITY" boot screen and is stuck in a loop. I had Velocity 0.3 flashed yesterday and I decided to re-flash today. I have tried wiping data/files/cache/dalvik cache. I'm stuck and I don't know what to do. Also I never did a Nandroid backup (because I'm slow).

I figured out how to full flash the LG Ally 740 to cricket but 3 out of every 5 phones I flash do not save the NV settings. When I go to manual programming (##program740 send) then select DATA. The MIP & DUN MIP settings always revert back to the default 0000000000@vzw3g.com settings. I've changed them in LGNPST,CDMA Workshop & QPST but still reverts back to VZW. It's rooted and tried several different ROM's to fix the problem. Could it be the kernel? If anyone can help, please let me know.

Is there any way to remove keyboard shortcuts for a rooted phone? For instance, while texting i sometimes press ALT+DEL and it removes the whole line i was typing. Kind of frustrating. So if there were a way to remove those shortcuts through terminal or modifying files that would be great

Before applying the Turbo4 ROM, I ran Linpack to get a base number so I can compare it with the number I get after I apply Turbo4. I got a 4.188. The phone is rooted with many of the stock apps removed running the Zeam Launcher, but no other custom ROMS.
Is that a pretty good number to start with? It was higher than I was expecting because most linpack scores i've read about are in the 3's.

Another n00b needing some tips/assistance... I spent hours the other night trying to figure out just how to flash my LG Ally to Cricket, to no avail. I've never flashed anything to anything before, so I'm trying to understand the whole process at the same time. There's a lot of vague info on the forums about doing this on the Ally, but nothing clear, yet. I rooted my phone (thanks to amoamare's AllyRR) and tried using 3 programs to gain access to changing PRLs, etc: CDMA Workshop, LGNPST, and QPST. None of them could correctly identify my phone (and yes, I had USB debugging on). It seems to me LG has added a layer of protection to prevent using these tools. My guess is that those of you out there who know how to code (I'm not included) can use ADB Shell or something else to modify PRLs, etc. on a rooted phone.

Just for fun and to see what I could score...I tried it. Well, I only scored a measly 278. I've read on here of other Ally owners getting 300 up to 525. So, my question is, what would cause my low score and if you guys wouldn't mind. go ahead n post up YOUR Quadrant scores.
