When I scroll up in an SMS to look at previous messages in the conversation the phone snaps it back to the most recent message. Even if I hold without releasing it still snaps back, wtf? Am I not allowed to read my old messages?

Weird issue here but very very frustrating. When I'm scrolling up through a conversion to view old texts in a thread once I take my finger off the screen it immediately just snaps back to the bottom (newest texts) so I can't scroll up past like 6 previous texts. I tried a battery pull and still does it.
View 45 Replies View RelatedI've been using the default SMS program since I'm OK with it and don't really need the fancier customizable stuff of Handcent and such. However one thing that does bother me about the SMS program is that when I hit "Messages" it brings me back to the conversation of the last person I was texting with/I sent text to, not the SMS that just came in.
For ex: I've been texting Person A back and forth. Then I get a text from Person B- I see it in the notification bar preview. So I press Messages, but it doesn't take me to Person B's message- it takes me back to the thread from Person A. I can't even figure out How to get to the Person B message except to go to "Menu" key, then hit All Messages, then it shows all the threads and of course the most recent (person B) is up at top. But wouldn't it make sense that pressing Messages after receiving a message takes you to the most recent incoming message? Am I doing something wrong/have some options checked off wrong? Is there a way around this default behavior?
Apparently auto focus in a phone camera isn't all it's hyped up to be. To get faster performance (the time from pressing the shutter button to the picture being taken is usually slowed down by the camera trying to find focus in autofocus mode (and sometimes missing completely and giving up if the subject is dark or lack contrast). I'm not sure about all Android phones, but my Acer Liquid has a focus setting either 'infinity' or 'auto'. From what what I understand about photography, on a small lens such as on a camera phone, the DOF (Depth of Field) is very large, and when the focus is set to the hyperfocal length (the 'infinity' setting), everything from infinity to about 2.5 ft is in focus. I confirmed this with my phone (set focus to infinity, see what the closest thing that's in focus). So what this really means is for almost all regular picture-taking, it should be set to 'infinity' for faster performance, and only set to 'auto' when one needs to take pictures of objects closer than about 2.5 ft, like a 'macro' mode. So it would've actually made more sense if Android Camera app were to label the two settings '0-2.5 ft auto focus' and 2.5-infinity fixed focus'. If your camera has this setting, give it a try and see if it's snappier.

I also want to be able to launch it stand-alone with no arguments, so I've specified two intent filters: I have also specified android:launchMode="singleTask". Now, if I explicitly launch my application from the application list, its name and icon can be found in the "recent apps" list that pops up when I hold the home key. If I then use the email application to open a URL in my application, my application disappears from the "recent apps" list. Why does this happen, and what can I do about it? I notice that the Browser application doesn't behave like this, and it has similar intent filters and the same launchMode..

Also, anything I do on my phone doesn't translate to my account online. When I sign in from my laptop, all the messages I deleted from my phone are back. Does anyone have any advice to help fix this?

I tried out chompsms recently, but I just didn't like the way it working compared to the regular messaging system. My friend somehow turned off the notifications for the built in messaging system, so now that I've uninstalled chomp, I don't know when I get messages. I can't figure out how to turn it back on. I've looked all through the settings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow to bring back the message notification numerals? i.e. I used to get a 1 or 2 on my phone when a message or two came in, showing the number of new messages. It has now disappeared and I cant find the information under Display, gestures & buttons to get it back. There is only 'notification flash' there but not like 'numerical notification'. I am in Australia and have been to my local Telstra store yesterday but they were not able to quickly bring it back. They said to wait for a technician but I did not have time to hang around.

View 8 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, when I pull up a text conversation and start scrolling backwards through it, the screen ALWAYS jumps right back to the bottom again. It wont let me scroll back up long enough to select a particular message to delete. Now I do have a screen protector on it, however, it was put on as soon as I took it out of the box so Im pretty sure its not the screen or my touch. Anyone else having this issue? Another related one, is there any way to select multiple messages to delete?

Since I've installed 2.2 the message app on the desire jumps to the top of a message thread randomly while I'm writing a message meaning I have to scroll to the bottom again. This can be very annoying in thread which I have lots of messages. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
In short, the mobile network radio or whatever does not seem to work on mine so I'm thinking a different radio might fix it, since it's not the APN. (trust me it isn't) However, it isn't on cyanogen's forum anymore so Idk where to get JUST the radio. What do i do?

Like a notification history or something? I cant find it if there is.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I run my app, it works fine but if I switch back to home or another application, I want to go back to my app quickly by using the recent activity list (on my phone this is done by holding down the home button). For whatever reason, I never see my application in this list of apps. All other apps when they are running or have just recently been closed show up ( the menu shows 6 icons for the recent apps). Why doesn't my app show up on this list? Is this something you need to do programmatically?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI noticed my EVO is running sluggish (2 second delay when touching screen) after the recent upgrade (not 2.2), but the most recent upgrade. I'm trying to figure out why? Right about the time I upgraded the software, 4G was becoming more available in my area. so I'm trying to figure out why my EVO seems to be slower in regards to previous upgrade/4G. Those are the only things I can think of that would cause this and of course, I'm probably wrong.

I have a feeling it may be a matter of modifying systemui.apk but I'm not sure.
Several recent applications (e.g. Shazam) have text and image ads which are handled by Google. I can't seem to find how they did this. Is there some new API that you can use to display ads given some key, similar to how the maps API works? Or is this something that developers individually negotiate?

searched for this post and found this post a few times, but no answer. This if for the D-Inc btw, I emailed the wrong people a few times. for example i used JSmith@aol.com, instead of JSmith@yahoo.com, now whenever i try to email JSmith, i'm getting both AOL and YAHOO emails under recent history for email addresses. I've been notified three times, but each time I try to install it either hangs at the rebooting screen (before shutdown, not during) or says your phone will reboot, but doesn't and the screen just goes away.
