Weird issue here but very very frustrating. When I'm scrolling up through a conversion to view old texts in a thread once I take my finger off the screen it immediately just snaps back to the bottom (newest texts) so I can't scroll up past like 6 previous texts. I tried a battery pull and still does it.

When I scroll up in an SMS to look at previous messages in the conversation the phone snaps it back to the most recent message. Even if I hold without releasing it still snaps back, wtf? Am I not allowed to read my old messages?

When I try to text here it lags like crazy (I assume because it has all the messages on that page). Like, it will not respond and i have to wait like 15 seconds before i can type between messages sometimes.. very annoying. Anyways, I can't seem to find any way to back these up?

I want to back up my contacts and my text messages and be able to restore them.Some of my contacts are associated to phone instead of Gmail. I dont know how that happened or what I can do to associate them to Gmail. Ideally I would like to perform a back up for personal use instead of on google, and restore when ever I need it.
- How can I convert existing contacts from phone to Gmail status.
- How can I perform a back up and restore, independent of Gmail syncing.
- I used a back up tool to send my text messages as mail to Gmail. I am ok with that but would ideally want to restore the messages back to my phone too. Is it possible.

I want when text area get focus scroll a little bit and also display the bottom buttons while text area id selected.
when I send text messages which are longer than one line but less than 100 characters, sometimes the other person texts back that all they see is an empty box. At first I thought it was the other persons phone but several people are telling me the same thing. This does not always happen, but often. One liners seem to have no problems. I called Rogers tech support and they give me the same aswers all the time for different problems.
1. reset the phone to factory settings(which I already did, and same thing happened)
2. If you would like we can send a replacement phone since the problem seems to be hardware related.( I doubt this, since I can send texts and other person receives them, except the times they receive an empty box)
So the charging port broke on my old hero, and i got a replacement. And i downloaded sms backup to take all my texts and turn them into an xml file on the sd card. On the new hero, i downloaded the same program but it does not seem to want to restore the texts back.
Any ideas on how to take that XML file and turn them back into text messages?
My Evo asked me to do the update and I declined, how do I get the update back? I went into setting and checked for an update all it does is just say checking and nothing happens.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay so I had a problem with an app, it would never download and stay at the installing progress bar for days. I looked up the solution online and they told me to go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Market>Uninstall Updates. I did that and now I have the old version on the Market, so I don't have automatic updating and there is no "Update All" button, so I can't do that either. I tried rebooting my phone, no luck. Unrooting and rebooting, still no luck. How can I update back to the newest version?

To get faster performance (the time from pressing the shutter button to the picture being taken is usually slowed down by the camera trying to find focus in autofocus mode (and sometimes missing completely and giving up if the subject is dark or lack contrast). I'm not sure about all Android phones, but my Acer Liquid has a focus setting either 'infinity' or 'auto'. From what what I understand about photography, on a small lens such as on a camera phone, the DOF (Depth of Field) is very large, and when the focus is set to the hyperfocal length (the 'infinity' setting), everything from infinity to about 2.5 ft is in focus. I confirmed this with my phone (set focus to infinity, see what the closest thing that's in focus). So what this really means is for almost all regular picture-taking, it should be set to 'infinity' for faster performance, and only set to 'auto' when one needs to take pictures of objects closer than about 2.5 ft, like a 'macro' mode. So it would've actually made more sense if Android Camera app were to label the two settings '0-2.5 ft auto focus' and 2.5-infinity fixed focus'. If your camera has this setting, give it a try and see if it's snappier.

View 30 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, when I pull up a text conversation and start scrolling backwards through it, the screen ALWAYS jumps right back to the bottom again. It wont let me scroll back up long enough to select a particular message to delete. Now I do have a screen protector on it, however, it was put on as soon as I took it out of the box so Im pretty sure its not the screen or my touch. Anyone else having this issue? Another related one, is there any way to select multiple messages to delete?

I've went to a few websites like bleacher report and aljazeera news to name a couple (mobile version for both) and most of the videos cannot play. The do have the play button in them and when I press it, nothing happens. I downloaded the team stream app and the videos still don't play. They play fine on my iPhone though which I don't understand.
Also another problem I'm having is when ur on a website and there's text within a box. How to u scroll within that text. When I try, the whole page scrolls. In the iPhone, u use 2 fingers to scroll the text. I tried that but it didn't work.
Is it possible to scroll the text inside the button.

1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?
If I need to paste text from another app in my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy SII, O2, Jelly Bean), like from Google Keep or Docs, into a text message it tends to convert from an SMS to MMS. This leads to a charge for me as my SMS messages are included in my tariff but I have no allowance for MMS messages. I presume that this might be something to do with character encoding or other formatting data that is pasted in, but that is only a guess.
Is there any way to stop short messages from being converted to MMS messages like this:? I couldn't find any 'paste clipboard as plain text' option in Android Jelly Bean.
