In short, the mobile network radio or whatever does not seem to work on mine so I'm thinking a different radio might fix it, since it's not the APN. (trust me it isn't) However, it isn't on cyanogen's forum anymore so Idk where to get JUST the radio. What do i do?

For anybody who is interested, the FM radio capability as seen on the HTC Desire phone, will be available for the Nexus on the next Modaco Sense ROM release (will be r.23 fixed due to a new kernel it seems (intersectraven's)Just had an interesting twitter feed and thought I would share.Not really interested in switching to Sense for this functionality but somebody may have been waiting for this

View 23 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Nexus S (Not the 4g version) I just picked up and the radio seems to not be functioning. No matter which sim card I insert into this thing the radio still comes up with zero bars I've switched the roms around a few times and I'm currently downgrading to the PeterAlfonso's Bugless Beast with the custom kernel in hopes that maybe flashing these two things may have a positive effect on my issue.

View 5 Replies View RelatedDamn, I cannot remember the commands & neither can I find them on Cyanogen's forum anymore Can somebody let me know the commands needed to install a new radio image file from the computer onto the phone, or point me towards a thread via hyperlink?I have got as far as putting the file "radio.img" into the Superboot folder of my computer & run the required commands to make sure the computer can detect the phone (fastboot-windows devices) but just cannot get any further.

Maybe it's already doing this, I don't know, since the WiFi symbol blocks the 'E' or '3G' symbol...

My N1 was sitting on my desk 5 bars 3G and WiFi on. I went to send a text and it failed. Tried a different number and it failed. Tried making phone calls and nothing happened. Turned off the WiFi and noticed I had 5 bars but no 3G or E symbol. I just got a network error when trying to access web pages. I rebooted the phone and it was fine. If this happens I will not know it and miss important calls, sms etc Still got data on the wifi. If this happens again I am going to have to switch back to my trusty iPhone. As much as I want to love the radio software/reception has some serious issues. Based on research on the forums I don't think it is my unit thats faulty esp since a reboot fixed it. I realy hope HTC/Google releases a better radio FW for this device or its going back within the 30 days.
View 19 Replies View RelatedMy Eris has always had issues with knowing who is who in my recent calls, texts and in google voice from time to time. I reformatted all the contacts to +1-555-555-5555 format(something that someone on a google forum suggested) but it still doesn't fix the problem. For instance- A friend named Steve called me. I see incoming call from and it knows who steve is and says "Incoming call from Steve". I called him back, clicking on the exact icon in my missed calls that says his name and it says I called 5551231234 (unknown). This happens in my messages as well, and it is starting to drive me crazy. I will get a message from 5551231234 and it will only list the number and not the name, so I have no idea who is texting me. For some reason my phone is incapable of putting it together to figure out that the number it lists as unknown is already a contact in my contacts. I have to always call people back to figure out who it is or send a text asking who they are.

Most recently during a phone call? I got this phone as a refurb from Verizon after the OTA bricked my last one. Does this warrant a replacement or is it a software bug I have to track down? I honestly don't want to go through the exchange process again.

I am not new to android: i have had the G1 which i did not root, the T-Mobile pulse, which i rooted and the HTC Legend and now the Nexus one.

With the legend i am am awhere of the Sence UI ? i liked how facebook contacts synced to my phone and when i rang i saw there display pictures, does the Nexus one do this?
SMS, is there a similar app to the legend, where you see threaded messages with a picture of there facebook dp?
I can't hear the phone when it rings, its so quiet, the volume is on max, is there anyway to increase this?

That all works just great, but I want to add them to a RadioGroup so only one button can be toggled at a time. When I tried to add the dynamic RadioButton to the RadioGroup AFTER I added it to the table row, I got an error saying that the child (the RadioButton) already had a parent. I agree, it does have one, the TableRow.
can you have radio buttons tied to a radio group inside of a row or, should I just code my own toggle mechanism and avoid RadioGroup all together? I mean, I could code the onClick to unclick all other radio buttons, but I would rather not do this if I can use the build in RadioGroup.

I have multiple radio buttons which I want to layout using a table but also include them in a single radio group. I have the following xml layout:

But unfortunately the radio buttons inside the table seem to ignore the fact that they're inside of the RadioGroup tags and because of this you can select more than one radio button at the time. I noticed that by removing the table and just having the radio buttons it works just fine. How can I overcome this? Would it be as simple as declaring the radio group inside of the table instead of outside?
I turned on my Droid this morning to listen to MSNBC and I heard the last 5 minutes of Keith Obermann (5:55 am est) and then all of my news and talk channels disappeared! Channels like CNN, C-SPAN, MSNBC and NPR are all gone from my favorites and the channel line-up. There is nothing in the "News and Public Radio" category.
Has anyone else noticed this? I'm thinking this must be a temporary glitch but I would hate to lose all of these channels. If you have the Sirius/ XM radio app, would you please check this on your Droid?

Depends on the size and gauge of the wire of your headphones. Also depends on the position of the wires. FM radio is a little picky, but works fine- depending on the points mentioned. Old & wrong: The FM radio on the Inc must be the weakest radio in a phone, evah! Just tried it today and picks up half the channels my Ngage and N900 pick up well. A lot of channels barely come in, or are static filled. I thought Steely Dan said "FM has no static at all"? Makes the CDMA radio seem not that bad, in comparison I know- at LEAST it has a radio. Must be set to suppa powwa savva mode
View 32 Replies View RelatedI just got my Droid but I frequently use Pandora and Last.FM on my computer at work. Last.FM - Seems like the service has a better list of artists than Pandora so i switched to it on my PC recently. On Android the service is the same but as an app it tends to be open in the background all the time and suffers from not being able to pause (like the PC version). The scrobbling could be nice for some users and it links to the android player. Sound Quality seems excellent, best of the three so far. Pandora - Haven't gotten to use it too much because it takes so long to load my station. Sound Quality seemed fine with my limited use.
Slacker Radio - Has the most music options of the three and seems likes the best application. It has plenty of options like keeping the screen from freezing while plugged in and on wifi without having to change your phone settings. Had to stop listening from poor sound quality though! Sound Quality started ok but a bassy boom and click started appearing after a few songs, forced to switch to Last.FM.
Does anyone have an idea when we will see one of these apps for android?

On the upcoming HTC Desire or even current HTC Desire, suppose I'm listening to the lovely built in FM radio and I want to make a recording of a breakfast show; would that be possible? Is there a possiblity for an app to be created that could record the built in radio in this manner? What about recording in a better quality like mp3? Does Android need to provide API access to the output speakers or... I am not reffering to internet/streaming radio, this is about the built in FM radio found in the latest HTC smartphones.

He quickly did a search on Chicago Bears and found 3 stations during the Monday Night Football game where we could listen to live audio.
