The reason I KNOW its not me changing these ringtones in all of the assignable designations for media files to be played for the ringtones and such is that I have not a single of my music files within any of these settings as an option to assign in the first place. They are showing up randomly. This morning I awoke to Rock n Roll by Led Zeppelin, and earlier today a friend called my whose ringtone was changed to 99 Red Balloons.
Let me reitterate; I have never assingned a music track as a ringtone, alarm, or notification. The previous ringtone still exists in my library and is functional IE; i can reassign the same ringtone to a person again. I THINK that only ringtones which are NOT DEFAULT are changing. What is going on here? I have lookout AVP app loaded and running at all times.List on my runnng apps on EVO:
1 Advanced Task Cleaner 2.0; dont roast me; ive read your theories, and am not having a ram leak. But am not ruling out the problem
2 Alarm Clock
3 Google Partner Setup
4 Google Search
5 Google Search Enhanced
6 HTC DM
7 HTC Sense
8 HTC widget download manager
9 Lookout
10 Mail
11 Messages
12 My uploads
13 People
14 Settings
15 Touch Input
16 Updater
17 Voice Dialer
18 Voicemail
19 Weather
20 com.htc
I do have an abundance of navigation (gps, turn by turn, ect), some news, a widget for quick settings (wifi, bluetooth, ringer on/off, gps), Music (shazam, pandora tunee music, The house FM christian radio) Astro file manager, Emulators, facebook integration.I have noticed some coming on by themselves. Ill try to note when I have done nothing to activate them.

I have Nonsensikal ROM installed on this Eris and occasionally make my own mp3 ringtones. But they never show up in the default list of available ringtones. Is this by Eris design?I know how to add a custom ringtone but was just curious as to why I cant include it in the default listing area rather than having to go to my music gallery.

When a group message is sent between my co-workers, who are all iphone users, and myself (Note 3), one person in the exchange does not receive the text. This is not the common iMessage issue that was plaguing me when I made the switch from Apple to Android. This is specifically affecting one iphone user. When I send her a text individually it is not a problem. The other iPhone users don't have a problem receiving or sending to me.

I'm just getting started with mobile development, and after considerable searching I'm still confused about sending a message from my iPhone to another or an Android. For instance, in building a simple Tic-Tac-Toe game, if I want to notify the other phone of a move, what is the best way to do so? Wifi, bluetooth, 3G? And how? Many methods seem to point to communicating through a web server, but I'd rather send them directly from phone to phone if possible.

Yesterday I noticed that ALL of my assigned ring tones and notification sounds were messed up. They were all NOT what I chose..but were different sounds and songs altogether. I spent about 25 minutes fixing it yesterday, assigning the proper ones to the proper contacts.but GUESS WHAT?Today they are all screwed up again! Is this happening to anyone else? Very frustrating. Is there some kind of "ring tone virus" that I don't know about?Anyone had a similar problem in the last week or two.

I have been with sprint since my first cell phone. but now I strongly consider going to ATT. why?I want to get either android phone EVO or iphone. but an Android phone would require everything data and ED costs more than ATT, for what I need:Sprint everything family Data I know these plan are not the same but for my specific situation: I need two phones and my wife does not need data. and I don't need alot of minutes. Everything Data will cost me more than double than my current plan:any solution to this? because I like sprint for its low cost plan.

I decided to make the switch to Sprint when I saw the Evo, and man am I happy. I got the phone today, and in the little time I have had with it, I love it! The OS is amazing compared to the iphone, it does sooooo much more. I do like the quality of the iphone a bit better, but I like this phone in every other way. If you are on the edge of getting this thing or not, do it!

I downloaded some ringtones the other night using an app on my Evo. Only set up a few of them at the time to specific contacts. Went back in today and cannot find where they went to. Can anyone tell me where to look? New phone for me, (used to be a confirmed crackberry user and ready to go back, lol) still in the learning curve!

I want to put ringtones on my phone but I am not sure where to put them. On my SD card I made a directory media/audio/ringtones. when I tried to set a custom ringtone for a contact it didn't list the ones I put on the card. I also tried (With Astro) to place them in the same directory on the phones storage and it wouldn't let me paste to the directory. Are all ringers and notification sounds in mp3 format?

I am sure this was asked before but I can't fund an answer. Can you set a ring tone to a group of people? Say like all the people I have set as friends. I use the same ring tone for all of them except a few special people that I talk to all the time and would like to have just one ring tone for the co workers group so I know when not to answer my phone.

I converted a ton of songs on my Pre into ringtones. I like to get goofy with custom ringtones for people. So, when backing everything up in advance of moving from the Pre to the Evo I also saved the ringtones folder from the Pre.
I've conncted to the "drive" on the Evo via the USB cable just like I did for the Pre, and I see a Music folder, but I don't see a Ringtones folder. Is there no way to just dump all my old ringtones onto the Evo so I don't have to convert each one all over again?

I got my HTC EVO yesterday and I have a bunch of ringtones from my Palm Pre I want to add to the EVO. I plugged in the phone and browsed the card but I cant find a place where to drop them where the EVO will recognize them as ringtones to browse from the phone to change email, text, ect notifications. And Im not sure how to attach ringtones to contacts either.
I also remember seeing here and commercials that you can type using Swype. I cant find how to do that. The reps at sprint yesterday tried to get me to swap for the Samsung Epic. Its a nice phone. I really wish I had them side by side. But swype isnt a deal breaker.

I just watched the marketing video for the iPhone 4 and it is pretty sick! I came back to Verizon last summer (because I was disappointed with AT&Ts service) and I had, in order, an HTC Droid Eris, a MotoDroid, and now I have the DInc. So far, the DInc is the only device that I personally feel holds a candle to the 3GS. So now that 4 is out...I am torn!Somebody convince me that I should stick with Android.I really like Android but something about iPhone just set the bar for me.

The newest Verizon Android, the Samsung Fascinate, seems to be advancing a bad trend. On top of the irremovable, unstoppable bloatware we have all come to expect from AT&T (and now Verizon), the Fascinate will feature Bing widgets, Bing maps, and Bing search. The Market app on the Fascinates version of the Android will also block all access to any Google apps and widgets (search, maps, etc).So much for the free spirit open source nature of the Android. If this trend continues across all carriers, it will kill the Android.

Me and my brother bought the EVO and his gf has an iphone 3gs. So they both loaded the same mp4 file on their phones and played them back side to side for comparison. He said that the video looked better on the 3gs than the EVO.
