View 1 RepliesI looked around and couldn't seem to find the information I was seeking in one place but found it on various forums. I thought I would put it here in case others need it or are looking for it. I was trying to add custom mp3 tones to my alarm clock, gmail, sms, etc., but I couldn't get the phone to recognize anything. In the end this is what I did to make it work:
I plugged the phone into my PC using the "usb storage device" option upon connection. I created a folder in the root directory called Tones (probably anything will work as a name) and then created 3 folders inside called Ringtones, Notifications, and Alarms. Anything in those folders will show up only in that app.
In other words, if you want a custom Alarm, you will need an Alarms folder and an mp3 or two. If you have a custom ringtone, you will need to put it in the Ringtones folder and so on. I got a bunch from the Zedge website but I've made a few of my own such as Halo Chant among others.
I've downloaded some custom ringtones and notification tones onto my SF. However, they all end up in the music player. I don't want to hear my ringtones and notification tones while I'm going through all my music... Does anyone know how to get keep these custom ringtones and notification tones out of my Music Player?

How do we set a text message ringtone? When we text, all we get is a goofy little chime and the phones vibrate. I'll never hear that thing in my purse.I went to settings>notifications and set a soundbite I want to use after transferring it to the media>notifications folder, and when I get e-mails, it worked. But not for texting.
Also, what forum do I use for the double time? What is rooting, and do we need to do it? We got the phones through AT&T and they work fine so far. Also, we have wifi at home- does that still count against our 3g plan when we're using that to access the market while trying to figure this out?
When I got our Nexus7 tablet over a year ago, I was happy to find that it would accept WAV files as notifications and ring tones since I had a number of custom WAV files that I wanted to use for different needs.
In addition I used SmartVoiceRecorder to generate a custom voice ringtone for my wife (who has difficulty hearing and finds it easier to hear alerts recorded with my voice) and it worked fine using the WAV files that it generates.
Over the last couple of days, her phone stopped ringing. Her settings showed that the ringtone was set to "none"
Using SmartVoiceRecorder to reset my recordings to "ringtone" didn't work either. Copying the WAV files to the ringtone directory and selecting them using ES File Explorer also didn't work.
None of the above actions triggered any warning or complaint, but the current ringtone was reset to "none" after each attempt without warning or notification.
I checked the SMS message tone and found that it had also reset to none.
Not sure if there is an android app to convert WAV to an android acceptable ringtone, but Mobile Media Converter - The Audio and Video converter you want. is a nice little PC converter that creates mobile compatible audio files... I tried AMR and OGG outputs, and both worked as Nexus ringtones.
I have Nonsensikal ROM installed on this Eris and occasionally make my own mp3 ringtones. But they never show up in the default list of available ringtones. Is this by Eris design?I know how to add a custom ringtone but was just curious as to why I cant include it in the default listing area rather than having to go to my music gallery.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the Samsung Galaxy s3 on T-mobile.So far all the websites i've looked at have been telling me to go to Contacts>SelectContact>Edit>Ringtone but once I select the contact and click Edit, I don't see the "Ringtone" option.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI set ringtones to contacts individually for my frequent callers. However, when they call, i get only the default ringtone. I tried various apps like ringdroid, ringtone maker etc.., but none of them fixed it.
I am just wondering if there is any place to look internally in Android and make changes to this. Like some configuration/framework file that will play specific ringtones assigned to them.
Device - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V - Rom - Super Jelly bean ; Kernel - Fusion for JB
I am having the problem where I have set custom ringtones for some of my contacts, but they are not always being played as they are assigned.
I have all of my ringtones in an folder on my sd card (/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones). I have a custom ringtone set as default and other custom ringtones set for a few of my contacts. However, when I receive a call the phone will only occasionally play the correct ringtone. Most times it plays either the default ringtone, or the ringtone assigned to the last person that called (this last option being more common).
Just made the switch from my iPhone to the Evo, I have done some looking but could find it, how can I get my custom ringtones from iTunes to my droid ? I could not find my ringtones using Doubletwist.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a droid razor maxx and have been trying to set up custom ringtones and text alerts for certain people and a guy at the verizon store downloaded two apps that have worked for some but the problem is that the custom ringtone will start and then after a few seconds be interrupted by a tweeting tone that came preinstalled on the phone that I was initially using while trying to figure out how to set some up
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy only complaint about the Droid is the seeming lack of options for notifications.
Is there a way, or an app, that would allow you to assign different notifications to emails vs texts vs missed calls?
Also, does anyone know if there's a way to set the phone to re-notify you periodically if you have a notification that has not been looked at? I tend to leave my phone sitting on my desk at work and would like it to let me know if I missed a call or text while I was away from my desk.
Ideally I'd like to silence email notifications, but have text and missed call notifications with unique ring tones for each, and I'd like the phone to renotify me every 10 minutes or so if I have a text or missed call waiting for me.
is there some application that can manage the notification for each app, i can chose for which application i want to be notified by a ringtone/vibrate for example i don't what to know about the Facebook notifications, but i want it to vibrate when i receive a whatsapp or email notification.
View 1 Replies View RelatedPhone: Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, Android 4.4.2
Settings/Notifications: Use system sounds: ON
Set your ring tone as custom ring tone which is .midi file. Please note that .midi is default extension for custom ring tones for Android 4.4, .mp3 can't be set as ring tone (at least, on my phone).
For incoming Viber call: do not answer and wait for other party to hang up.
Ring tone continues to play even after disconnect, the only way to stop it is to exit from Viber (or to terminate Viber using Task manager).
So on my Galaxy s4 I know how to set up a custom sms/mms tone for individual contacts. HOWEVER they are always the same tones listed. When I create or download any notification sound it won't show up on the list when I try to make it a custom but it will show for my default list. Apparently I did it somehow because one of my notification tones I created appeared on the list but that's it. How to add to that list?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently become somewhat irritated by Words With Friends' notifications, due to the fact they have a rather ugly layout IMO. I would much rather they just displayed like every other notification. Any way to achieve this? (I don't mind modifying the APK or whatever if necessary)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am very new to Android (using non-rooted LG Nexus 5) and am having a great problem finding a feature that I depended on regularly with my Blackberry.
I occasionally receive an email from an automated server that indicates an emergency with one of the systems I manage. In Blackberry, I had setup a custom notification based on the email source address, and it would play a custom ringtone (Star Trek Red Alert) at top volume whenever a email from that contact was received. Android only allows custom "ringtones" on a per-contact basis, but these ringtones are only used for phone calls. There is no similar setting for SMS/MMS or Email messages that I can find on Android. I think it is strange that it is not part of the base functionality -- I am beginning to suspect it is a patent issue and it never will be added.
I can't find a good third-party application to provide this additional feature for email.I have tried several and found none adequate (for example, they fail with "Unfortunately has stopped.", they create separate connections to email servers and suck the battery dry, or they are built for SMS/MMS only).
I recently noticed my phone has not been going off when it should. I checked my settings and noticed all the ringtones were no longer listed when selecting a ringtone/alarm/notification. Using a file browser I was able to located all the missing ringtones, under /system/media/audio. This may be relevant, my phone recently was low on data and i had uninstalled some programs, although none of which as far as im aware, has anything to do with the ring tones.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi noticed on my rogers magic phone you can add ringtones that you put on sd card for voice calls but when i go to select ringtones for notifications SMS it doesnt give me the option of getting them off of sd card.. am i doing something wrong or? View 8 Replies View RelatedI noticed this morning that my alarm didn't make a sound when it went off this morning. Fortunately it was set to vibrate and I heard that. I than noticed it didn't ring when I received a call. I had my GF send me a txt and no sound with that either. When I go into setting to change my ringtone none of them play. The volume button beeps when I hit it and I other apps that play sounds are working fine.

View 7 Replies View Relateddoes anyone know of an app or widget that can give android iPhone-type notifications. Meaning, when you have a missed call or text message or email, or anything, a big thing appears in the center of the screen that is huge and impossible to miss. for some people, esp the older ones (i.e. my father) it is hard to remember and, more over, to see the notification area at the top of the screen. It would really help if there was an app that brought large notifications to the center of the screen, just like the iPhone and the iTouch do.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI fought for quite a while trying to add custom ringtones to the epic, don't know why they make it so difficult. Anyway, create a two folders on you phone called "notifications" and "ringtones" these can either be in the root dir of your sd card or nested in another folder. Apperantly it for these it searches for folder names instead of file type. I have my nested in another folder called media. I use this for all external media I add to phone.
Also remember that the phone will find pictures by file type. So any pictures you put anywhere on your sdcard will show up in gallery. This makes it real easy to create folders for sorting pics. If you don't want a certain folder to show up in the gallery just put a "." in the beginning of the name. Then when you want it to show up in the gallery go to the folder, delete the period at the beginning of the name and there it is in gallery. So folder name "confidential pics" will show in gallery but folder name ".confidential pics" wont show up in gallery. I use Astro for changing the folder names on the phone and it works pretty good.
Is there anyway to add the list of notifications to the list of ringtones, so that if I wanted to make a notification option a ringtone, I could.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a way to do two slightly different things:
1) I want to be able to assign different ringtones to different groups on the phone (ie based on the groups assigned within the Google contacts database).
2) I really need to be able to set the phone on silent overnight for everything (calls, emails, sms messages) EXCEPT for calls from people in a VIP list who I want to be able to wake me up.
I've been able to do this on "dumb" phones for the last 10 years! Can anyone restore my faith in this thing's smartness?
is there a way to get the stock ringtones and notifications off the droid? or maybe someone has done this already and i can download it. i mainly want to do this so i can put it on a non droid phone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an app that sets specific actions (like changing ringtones, volume of notifications, e-mail notifies on/off) according to the SSID/availability of WiFi networks nearby. Pretty much like "locale" does for position, but tied to WiFi availability. The idea is that I can turn off e-mail alarms/notifies when I'm at home/work where I have a PC anyway (WiFi of home/work is detected) while automatically having them turned on when I leave the house (no wifi anymore).
