Does anyone know of a way to add an exception to the silent profile? i work nights and my phone is put on silent but i would like it to ring with sound for certain contacts ie wife, kids school and childminder i had a blackberry and could do it on that. is there a way or program that would do this
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a application or a way to have the phone vibrate but have messages come in silently? Sometimes I need to have alerts silent, and be able to tell that there is a phone call, other times I need to have both message alerts and phone calls be audible. I'm looking for a way to quickly do this.

So I downloaded Tasker and created a profile that's supposed to silence my phone when it's plugged in at night, and it almost works. Tasker says the profile is active and I can see the "silent" icon in the notification bar, but texts and emails still make noise. As far as I can tell, Silent Mode is also supposed to silence notifications, but it's not working for me. I'm using Handcent SMS and Gmail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Captivate I was running with out of the box software. I installed a profile timer to control sound (mainly because of the "fully charged" notification going off of a night). Since I installed it, I have not been able to get my phone out of Silent Mode. If I long-press power to get the Phone Options menu and Silent Mode is enabled, then I disable it, I get the Silent Mode icon in the notification bar and Silent Mode in Settings is checked, but shows as "Off" in Phone Options. If I turn off Silent Mode in Settings, then it shows as off in Settings, but "On" in Phone Options.
Because of this, the phone is always silent. I did a hard reset, but that did not straighten it out. I've also tried a couple of different widgets to force it to ring or vibrate, but I'd like to actually get the problem resolved. I even did the upgrade to Froyo 2.2 to see if that would fix it, assuming a whole new firmware would straighten it out. It worked until I restarted the phone, but then went back to the out of sync Silent Mode settings.Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Mark
Two issues that are bugging me...
1) Is there a way to avoid notification sounds to take place during media playback, mainly music player, without having to change my sounds profile to silent, or vibrate?
2) All of a sudden my phone is taking a little long to load SMS conversations. Is there a way to fix that? I feel as though my Snapdragon shouldn't lag when I open a text.
I get the animated Droid X boot but no sound -- I could have sworn I'd heard "Droid" the first few times I booted up my phone. Now -- nothing. Am I just imagining things?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter the update, the shutter sound is not silent when in silent/vibrate mode. Sony always had this one in a bag. Why does it fail now? Please fix this Also, I am not sure if this is bug, but to activate camera with camera button, now you need to long press the button, whereas before you just had to tap. [Is it a bug or a fix?] But, the previous mentioned is a bug. Shutter should not make a sound when the phone is on silent mode or vibrate mode.
View 18 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of a way to make the phone, when set to vibrate, vibrate longer and stronger than the 2 short weak vibrates that it does now? I miss more calls because of this than any other reason. A co-worker has the Moto Droid and that thing will vibrate so hard the phone will move across the desk. Thats what I am used to coming from BlackBerries. I would like to accomplish this without using a 3rd party app if possible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've seen on some peoples phones they have a widget for different sound profiles. Airplane, vibrate, and silent modes. This morning I dl'd more HTC widgets and I found on that said 'Profile.' The details say, "Quickly switch your phone's profile to normal, silent, or vibrate." Once it dl'd I found the profile for 'Airplane' was added to my Settings widgets, but I've found nothing for normal, silent, or vibrate modes. Am I missing something, not looking in the right place? Should I uninstall and reinstall and see if that helps?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI flashed Jellybean today on my Galaxy Nexus using the guide I found on The Verge [URL]
everything works great, except the fact that the sound search widget is nowhere to be found
the apk exists but the widget is not on the list, I tried to reinstall the apk but since the original one it's signed I can't install over it.
I am currently trying to create a cuckoo clock widget in which I am facing problem with updating the pendulum sound each second. My pendulum has to keep on ticking each second with sound effects integrated. I am doing update every second and I am able to play the sound using
mPlay = MediaPlayer.create(context, R.raw.chime); mPlay.start();
But after about 30 seconds, the sound stops playing giving the log error as follows:
E/AudioTrack( 2106): AudioFlinger could not create track, status: -12 E/AudioSink( 2106): Unable to create audio track E/VorbisPlayer( 2106): mAudioSink open failed
Then again the same sound starts playing after a pause of about 20 seconds instead of getting played each second. It continues in this fashion of playing the sound file for some seconds, then to the pause state and then again playing from start. This problem doesn't come into picture when I'm trying to update the sound on hourly basis for my hourly chime because in that case only once every hour this sound is played, same is the case for updation every minute. This problem arises only for updating the sound each second. What is the reason behind this delay?
I'm looking for a fast way to simply turn off all sound notifications, except for incoming phone calls. On my BB, there were different sound profiles, and I used to use 'Phone Only' quite a bit. I still wanted SMS and Email to come in, but I wanted those to be silent.I realize I can dive down into Menu > Setting and do it manually, but I'm looking for something simpler like an app or widget.I could turn off Mobile Network via a widget, but like I said above, I still want SMS and Email to come in, just not make a sound.Any ideas?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to change the alert sounds for various events: email notification, SMS, power status, Google Talk, etc. I can change the alert sound via Settings->Sound & display->Notification ringtone, but the sound is identical for all the various notifications which seems ridiculous. Is there an app or widget which allows me to assign different notification sounds to different events?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a widget for sound profiles? I know I can create a shortcut for the "sounds and display" setting but it would be a lot easier if I can toggle say, normal, silent, and vibrate from a simple widget.
Also I frequently have bluetooth devices connected to my phone. I've found a lot of bluetooth toggle widgets, but I'd like to be able to check the device status via my home screen.
Perhaps stupid but in android 1.6 together with the wifi and gps there was a icon to select the sound on/off/vibration know after update to 2.1 i can't find a fast way to change de sound to off or vibration except via the setting menu.
Is there a widget or perhaps a link so you can put it on one of the screens.
In my application, RTSP streams play only sound without video, but if i specify the video path as a local file, it plays the video and audio.
