I'm new to the world of Androids. I have the the HTC Evo 4G and wanted to know if there is a place where I can save sensitive information on my phone? I converted from the BB Bold 9700 on ATT, that phone had a password keeper. Evo does not seem to have a similar application.

Is anybody using Bing maps? I was trying it and looks good. The only complain I have is that doesn't allow to save a place in the map as it did on Windows. I was trying to save home as I did before.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an android application with a LOT of activities, think of something like a book where every page is a new activity. The user can make changes in each activity, for example highlight certain texts with different colored markers etc. and it's crucial that I'll remember this information as long as the application stays alive (and I don't want/need to remember any of this when it's not). As I understand the best mechanism for storing this kind of information is via onSaveInstanceState(Bundle outState) and onCreate(Bundle)/onRestoreInstanceState(Bundle) rather than lets say, the Preferences mechanism. My only problem is that the user can navigate backwards to previous pages (Activities) and the only way i know of achieving this is by calling finish() which of course kills the current activity without calling onSaveInstanceState(Bundle outState) and even if it did call it, the next time I would launch an activity representing that page it would be an entirely new instance. So my question is: Is there a way to go back to the previous activity without calling finish()? or, is there a better way to save this information? maybe through static variables?

I think I remember this happening once or twice on the moment but admittedly, I don't use it much so not sure if the lock screen was on, screen was off, etc. Just looking to see if anyone if affected by this or if it's a known problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am a Mac user (photographer/ videographer). I also rely heavily on my iPod Touch when mobile (i can often find a wifi signal when i am out and about). I use iCal on the Touch and iCal on my Mac as well as the address book on both everyday and as a Mobile Me user, my two devices sync so everything is mirrored and up to date. I also HATE AT&T for their terrible signal strength and coverage and have been a loyal Verizon customer for many years and this is why I don't have an iPhone. Okay, all that being said, is there an easy way to still use everything I love and rely on with my Mac (the calender and address book, mainly) and easily sync all of my existing information and future info to an Android based device? How easy is it to use an Android device with a Mac? I don't want to have to manually re-enter my entire address book into a new device.

What is the best place to buy Evo off contract? Certain places like Wirefly don't sell off contract, others like Amazon apparently don't either. Places like Best buy and radio shack seem to have a higher off contract price ($549). Sprint's online store seems to be the most obvious choice, but then we get stuck with Tax (which for california is nearly 50$ dollars)
So, has anyone done their research and figured out what place will be best, and why?
I should be able to get an Evo tomorrow. Is Wirefly still the best place? Their price has gone up from the launch price of $170 to $190, but it appears you can still get $50 Bing cash back. And I think there's a coupon code for a free bluetooth headset.
I actually tried to order the Evo on the launch date from Wirefly, but was denied because my upgrade date wasn't ready. I think I'll give them a call and see if they can honor the launch price of $170 for me.
Received my HTC Desire this week and its amazing. I've ported over from another provided and it appears that Phone Information in the About Phone Section contains my temporary port number.Can this be updated? Or is this information taken from the SIM?

What format do they have to be in on the computer to put on your phone? I know my iphone was mpeg4. Keeping my kids busy on road trips, plane trips and restaurants is of paramount importance.
