Is anybody using Bing maps? I was trying it and looks good. The only complain I have is that doesn't allow to save a place in the map as it did on Windows. I was trying to save home as I did before.

I am creating an application that checks the installation of a package and then launches the market-place with its id.
When I try to launch market place with id of an application say com.mybrowser.android by throwing an intent android.intent.action.VIEW with url: market://details?id=com.mybrowser.android, the market place application does launches but crashes after launch.
Note: the application com.mybrowser.android doesn't exists in the market-place.
MyApplication is my application.

However, when I try to launch the market place for a package that exists in the market place say com.opera.mini.android, everything works. Log for this case:

I'm new to the world of Androids. I have the the HTC Evo 4G and wanted to know if there is a place where I can save sensitive information on my phone? I converted from the BB Bold 9700 on ATT, that phone had a password keeper. Evo does not seem to have a similar application.

View 24 Replies View RelatedThe problem - when viewing a webpage such as craigslist, if I click into an ad and then go back to the previous page my location on the previous page always defaults close to the top of the page instead of that last link I clicked. This is a very annoying problem if your a hardcore craigslist junkie like me because you can be you have to scroll back thru all of the ads you looked at just to get back to where you originally were.
Trying to fix the problem using two kinds of soft resets, a hard reset, resets followed by reinstallations of 2.1 ,etc etc, I finally went to a sprint store to get it checked out and the rep had a Hero that did the same damn thing! Apparently he didn't have a problem with his phone doing this because he just kept giving me some dumb blank stare.
1.5 never had a problem with web pages forgetting their locations when using the back button. Yet I haven't seen anybody else complain about this. Is anybody else able to recreate this problem? One thing to look for, after I reset the phone, reinstalled 2.1 or cleared the internet cache, the phone will do fine for a few minutes, recognizing pages like its supposed to, but after usually 4-6 times of clicking links the phone goes right back to forgetting locations.
I upgraded to 2.1. With 1.5 I had a phone I loved that worked fine and the only problem I had was a laggy phone-book, now I have a phone with a laggy dialer and that doesn't do web pages correctly. BTW, it does this with all browsers, not just the stock browser and Dolphin.

The left lower side of my battery cover doesn't fully snap into place, causing an annoying gap. It was never like this, but I took the cover off to remove the battery, and when I tried to put it back in, it wouldn't snap. I tried a different cover and it still didn't fit... I have no idea why it wont snap in all of a sudden. Anyone else have this? I'm on my fourth epic, If I have to go to #5 I might just say forget it and save my upgrade

I've been deciding on phones for about a month or so now and have done NOTHING but research almost 24/7 and was all over the Incredible. It seems like a VERY good phone, but now I'm a bit torn, again, The Fascinate is out now and im mildly curious about how bad Bing and touchwiz REALLY is. I hear a lot of hoopla about how its awful and you should avoid it like crazy, but I dont know how much of that is just "new phone hate" or how sound that criticism is. I would MUCH rather stay with Google and Sense, but I cant escape the feeling that I might be making a mistake choosing the older phone over the newer fascinate. Really my biggest features I want out of this phone is a good phone, capable browser (I like me some internetz), decent camera/video, music player and GPS navigation.

However a new problem has emerged I have found out today. The Fascinate is a real stand out and I'd love to keep it. But, as per my thoughts on Bing, I'm going to cash this and go with Sprint. Before I walk away though, I wanted to check here. Anyone heard of a decent approach to getting this phone back to using Google, as God intended it? Specifically, I want to use the dedicated search button to pull up Google text and voice search. Adding Google as a bookmark to the browser isn't really a solution, IMO.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I use Bing voice search, I always get the following message "due to a temporary connection or service issue, we can't get results. Please try again later." This has been an issue over the last 10 days or so. Anyone else have this problem? I brought it to Verizon tech and they couldn't figure it out. Google voice search works fine. I speak loudly and clearly in a quiet environment, using different search terms.

If there were an app that would set the wallpaper from a URL [URL] ....... on a daily basis, then I could scrape the Bing image and host it for retrieval.
If I could even just find a wallpaper app that switches on a daily RSS feed, I could create my own feed to expose Bing's daily image.

This phone does not take Micro SD cards but it comes with 50GB Google Drive storage. However i haven't used this at all. I am wondering whether i could download android apps and games to google drive, dropbox etc. Games like Real Racing take up about 1GB so i cannot download it to my phone. Can i download it to the Cloud? If this is not possible, is there any way that i could save the app data on the cloud. E.g. The Simpsons: Tapped Out is about 37mb to download off the play store, but then you must download the updates etc which are about another 250mb. is there anyway to save this 250mb on the cloud.
