HTC EVO 4G :: Pics Taken With Camera Lense Protection
Jun 17, 2010
I have the Evo Naked and I wanted to somehow protect the Camera. I cut a small circle of Screen Protector for the Back Camera for protection. I cant tell a difference on pics that I have taken with the protection on or off. I used a standard screen protector from sprint.

I've been reading a lot on protecting the camera lense on the back cover. My question is: is that the actual camera lense? On my Hero it is part of the back cover and just a cover for the actual camera lense. I have several backs for me and my wifes Hero's so I don't worry about it that much. We purchased several factory packs off ebay with backs, batteries, usb cords, etc. for just $16.00 a piece. Maybe this can be done with the EVO when we get them.

Anyone figure out a solution? I'm very careful with my phone, and my lens already has a few microscratches on it.

With some of the reviews mentioning that the EVO will lay directly on the camera's lens, is there a chance that the screen protection manufacturers will create a disc to protect the lens as well?It might not get trashed right away, but it would be nice to be able to swap out a disc rather than having permanently fuzzed out pics from the scratches on the lens.

besides a seido case or any case... what are the alternative methods to prevent that camera from being scratched up? here are my thoughts
1. what if you used one of those screen protector and cut a circle to place onto the camera glass? will that degrade picture quality?
2. HTC Evo 4G Magnet Mount Conversion Lens, FREE Shipping, HTC Evo 4G PHONE Magnet Mount Conversion Lens what if you attached the included circular magnetic piece (kinda like a washer) to act as a spacer?
3. like the magnetic spacer, maybe add a small strip of rubber with adhesive on the back to raise up the top of the phone and create a very small space between the surface and the camera. similar to feets found under a laptop.
4. small adhesive rubber dots... like those placed on your laptop's bezel around the lcd

Does anyone else have this issue? When I go in for a close up shot, say 20cms away, the camera focuses fine, turns green, makes a beep them shoots. All fine but when you see the preview or even go into the gallery to view the picture it is out of focus.Sometimes i have to pull back a good 50cms before it will record a focused shot. Is this the macro distance for the DHD?I know it doesn't have stabilization so I've tried this with it mounted and on timer. Still does it. But once I pull back away it behaves as it should.Hope this makes sense. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something in the settings that will eliminate this?

Just got Camera 360 and I'm having some trouble on my EVO. I'm shooting in high quality and in 1280x960 resolution but when I download the pics to my laptop they are coming out 424x320. I bumped up the resolution and same thing, small pics. The stock camera is working fine shooting at 1280x768 resolution

When I take pictures using android.hardware.camera and I save them to the following location /SD card/dcim/camera/ they don't appear when I launch the gallery. Is there a process for getting them to show up in the gallery that I missed?I can see my images using a file explorer and know they have been saved.

In store Verizon and customer service for over an hour led me to believe that pictures taken on my camera can NOT be transferred to the SD card that is installed. Either that is Horrible or the 4 reps I showed/spoke with are morons. I have 30 pics on my phone that I want sent to the card so I can do a hard reset. Any ideas?

I have the original Droid. Love it. Thinking of getting the Droid X. One question. How is the shutter compared to the original? Im satisfied with the pic quality from posted samples. But the original has a noticeable lag when taking one pic to the next making quick shots and successive shots not very practicable. Specially since it makes moving subjects blurry. Does the Droid X camera take faster pics then the original?

So I take a picture with my Droid X, and it doesn't save at all.It seems to be tied to the GPS, because if I wait for the GPS to tag the photo, then it SEEMS to work MOST of the time. Thing is, I can't wait for the GPS all of the time, I just want a point and click cam. I have tried disabling the GPS and it doesn't seem to work until I reboot the phone. Anyone else having this issue, any suggestions?

I don't get it. I actually really like the stock camera app that comes with the phone. But if I take a picture or video, I can't view it. It's like it's instantly corrupted. It sucks cause I had some good pictures and video but now they are basically gone. I have downloaded another camera app and I get reliable pictures that aren't corrupted. But I would prefer to use the stock one cause it just seems to react quicker. What apps do you use for taking pictures?

So the title may be a bit hard to comprehend but the gist of it is that I turned on full device encryption and since then when I transfer the pics off the phone to a computer they cannot be viewed. The message I get is corrupted metadata, the sizes on them seem right, I have not tried to view the exif data through a utility yet to see what exactly is corrupted.
I can still see the pics on the device, and share them online, but when I copy them off of the device they are broken. I've tried a couple of jpg recovery tools without any luck.
Most similar posts I've seen related to this is a corrupted sd cared (but this is on the internal one and only started after I turned encryption on).
And to confuse things a bit more, if I email the pic off it works correctly. So the problem seems to be just directly pulling them off the device, or browsing them when they are on the phone but connected to a machine. Same thing happens in linux and windows with various software.

I installed the new camera app to take photo-sphere pics. I installed the gallery as well. But all of my pictures already in the gallery are not showing. The screen is blank, though I think all the pictures are in the memory. This happened after I installed the new camera app.

I am having is when I try to send a picture through picture message I get an error saying message size limit reached, you cannot attach this to your message. So in order to send a picture this way do I have to either:
a. change my camera settings to lower resolution?
b. is there a program or setting to automatically send a smaller image and keep my high res photo?
Obviously I would prefer option B as this camera rocks and takes some good pics.

Apps can choose to require connection to google to verify they are legit EVERY TIME they are opened .....so if u happen to be offline then u won't be able to open the app. Android Market apps now have to check in with licensing servers to confirm legitimacy. i have no problem paying for apps, but if a cocktail mixing app refuses to open to give me a drink recipe because i happen to be not connected to wifi or a data connection then i would not buy that app ....as it is i do not have an always on data connection.

I am no security expert and have not thought this out all the way, but could a workable solution to the pirating problem be something like this:
1. The market clients (like Google Market, AndAppStore, SlideME) could record on their servers some kind of identifier about who bought the app and perhaps what Android device it was bought for. They already capture the who information.
2. Android apps that care can, on first launch, ask the user about their identifier and what service they bought the app from.
3. The app, or the servers that support the app, can query, via http, the market client service to ask did so-and-so get this app from you?
4. If an affirmative response can be had then the app is not pirated. Otherwise the app is pirated
Google Market, AndAppStore, SlideME, etc... will need to make such a service available, via http.
It would be straight-forward to generate a list of installed market clients for the user to select from. The market clients may even be able to supply the user identification so user does not need to enter it.
The application could retrieve from its servers the list of market clients is believes are legitimate in order to prevent the bogus clients from spoofing it.
If you installed an app w/out a market client and the app did not intend for such an installation to happen, like on rooted phones using adb, then the app is pirated.
And finally, could this process be invisible to the user and just involve communication between the app and installed market clients and the market clients servers and the apps servers?

I was just wondering what your thoughts are on having some law enforcement on your side as well as legal protection. As an independent developer its hard to afford legal nonsense like this. In your experience has it been worth it to include legal agreements with your apps and do you have protection like a LLC to protect yourself from being sued into oblivion?
Also what licenses are freely available that might be of interest?
