HTC EVO 4G :: New Update Not Rooted Yet?
Jul 14, 2010
I don't see anywhere that says the OTA update has been conquered yet..is this true? Hopefully i am proven wrong, i would love to remove the bloat ware from my phone. If anyone would like to help me root with unrevoked3, please ask for my gmail address. I would really appreciate it.

I recieved the ota update this morning and tried to install. while the phone did its thing with the power off i would get an exclamation point and with any button press would bring me into clockwork. I have no idea how to get the 2.2 update working and upon reboot of the phone i go to setting and check for software updates and am told it is up to date. If i go to the about phone section I am still running 2.1update1. Is it because my phone is rooted that I can not update? I do not care for root capabilities as my friend did it for me and wireless tether can be done natively. I have done a factory reset twice now but i can not get this froyo update to work.

I have rooted my live with walkman ICS 4.0 by downgrading then rooting then upgrading it as seen on one of the popular XDA forums.
Currently my version is 4.1.b.0.431 and now I have got the update notification on my phone for version 4.1.b.0.587.
If I do this update then will I lose my root(superuser rights) or not?

I rooted my desire about a month ago, and only used root access for backups. last week i got the OTA update to 2.2 and installed it, but now i think i no longer have root access. i was doing something (i forget what now) and it told me i need root access to do the task. i still have superuser permissions on my app list, but im not totally convinced. is there an easy way to find out if i still have root access?

What the title says basically. I'm rooted and on 2.1, and was wondering what would happen if I install the upcoming OTA 2.2 update. Should I unroot it first?

Now that I have rooted and done the 2.1 update 2 days later Verison plans to update the phone. my question is is there a way to urn on the OTA update for the rooted Eris? If not then I am sure there will be an updated ROM that covers all the OTA stuff, but I was just wondering if there was a way to turn on OTA.

Got my phone rooted with Unrevoked3.I have not applied -s off. I have not updated the radio, flashed ROM, or changed kernel- just running stock.I have installed some root only apps and removed City ID, Twitter, and Peep.So what should I do if the expected OTA update comes through? Can I apply the update on a rooted phone? I believe from what I have read that I would have to unroot and revert to stock in the box.Do I want to apply the update? If I apply the update with -s on will I permanently lose root?(I have too much faith in the droid community and xda-dev to really believe this would be more than a temporary problem)

I recently rooted my Vodafone (UK) HTC Desire after the bloated 2.1 release from Vodafone but never got around to flashing a custom rom (after problems with the clockwork recovery Amoled or SLCD). I know wish to install the clean(er) 2.2 official Vodfone OTA release but I'm having trouble. When I download OTA the phone restarts and hangs at a screen with a triangle and explanation mark. I can then get to the recovery screen where I se the error - failed, un-verified signature. what I need to do to install the Vodfone release, do I need to un-root my phone first?

Sorry if this has been answered, but I haven't found any many solutions through Google or this forum. The OTA update for the Samsung Captivate (that was supposed to fix the GPS and a couple other bugs) isn't working on my [rooted] phone. I am able to download it, but it says that the process failed after my phone restarts. Luckily, it doesn't brick my phone like it has done to some other people's phones. From what I can gather, it doesn't fail because the phone is rooted but because some of the stock AT&T apps have been removed. Is this the problem? If so, is there any place I can download those stock apps (AT&T Navigator, Where, Mobile Banking, etc.) and reload them onto my phone?

I received my Froyo update today and it is wreaking havoc on the apps I use most. ESPN radio and MLB atbat. The streaming audio is very choppy. I did not back up and my phone is not rooted. Can I undo this update?

My Incredible is rooted. For the past few days I've received a notification that a system update will be installed and the phone will reboot. Nothing happens, no reboot and no evident change. Now that the phone is rooted do I need to apply updates manually? Should I take the Verizon updates at all? (The only specific change mentioned in (more info" for this update is the addition of an app called "Slacker").

I am new to this whole droid scene and I had 2.0.1 rooted and rommed out but I am currently running stock 2.1 and wanted to know if there is any info on the progress of a new root process to root this firmware version. I really liked having the ability to control all aspects of my phone, including the nandroid recovery. I don't want to risk bricking my phone by trying to revert back to 2.0.1 using the RSD program.

This morning I received the 2.2 OTA update for my Droid. The confusing thing is that I am rooted and have 2.2 Sapphire FRG22 build running. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this or received and update on their rooted phone? Also wondering if I should install it. The Sapphire build seems stable.

So I rooted my droid about 2 months ago. I have Bugless Beast V0.4 and I used SPRecovery. No joke, but as soon as I rooted, I got the official Froyo update from VZW. I clicked on install and it took me to recovery mode ( i think that's what it's called) and I just clicked on "reboot now" and my phone stayed rooted. Now I'm getting the Froyo update message about once a week (since then) and each time I just "reboot" the phone. Well today I got a text from VZW saying that my droid was sent the Android 2.2 update and to click for more info. What do I do and/or how do I stop the updates from coming? I love the way my droid is right now and do not want to change it.!

I rooted my Android Motorola Droid X. I've heard mixed reviews about whether or not I can upgrade when the update comes out to Froyo or if I have to set my phone back to root. I used the easy root tool to root my phone but if I need to put it back is there an easy unroot program? Or do I not need to worry about the rooting.
