This morning I received the 2.2 OTA update for my Droid. The confusing thing is that I am rooted and have 2.2 Sapphire FRG22 build running. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this or received and update on their rooted phone? Also wondering if I should install it. The Sapphire build seems stable.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am new to this whole droid scene and I had 2.0.1 rooted and rommed out but I am currently running stock 2.1 and wanted to know if there is any info on the progress of a new root process to root this firmware version. I really liked having the ability to control all aspects of my phone, including the nandroid recovery. I don't want to risk bricking my phone by trying to revert back to 2.0.1 using the RSD program.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted my droid about 2 months ago. I have Bugless Beast V0.4 and I used SPRecovery. No joke, but as soon as I rooted, I got the official Froyo update from VZW. I clicked on install and it took me to recovery mode ( i think that's what it's called) and I just clicked on "reboot now" and my phone stayed rooted. Now I'm getting the Froyo update message about once a week (since then) and each time I just "reboot" the phone. Well today I got a text from VZW saying that my droid was sent the Android 2.2 update and to click for more info. What do I do and/or how do I stop the updates from coming? I love the way my droid is right now and do not want to change it.!

I've heard mixed reviews about whether or not I can upgrade when the update comes out to Froyo or if I have to set my phone back to root. I used the easy root tool to root my phone but if I need to put it back is there an easy unroot program? Or do I not need to worry about the rooting.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if and when 2.1 is released by Google will we be able to get full featured versions of 2.1 on our rooted phones a lot sooner than the OTA update. Secondly, does anyone know what kind of install it might be. Will it just be another ROM to replace the humancyborg ROM that most of us are running. Hopefully when 2.1 is released it shows up quickly on here.

i have never got everything working quite right with this rom and would like to go back to stock (once its 2.2 anyway) and not have to worry about the hassle.

My phone is rooted and running 2.2 via download. Froyo is great but I have been waiting for the Flash update like everyone else.
Got the notice this morning on my phone that an OTA update was ready to install and asked if I wanted to proceed. Unit was fully charged and connected via WiFi.
Clicked "proceed" and the phone rebooted. On startup, it went to the boot screen that I used in the root process, and the bottom line said something like "upgrade aborted." Clicked reboot to get the phone usable and see what's what.
Now Settings>About Phone says Android 2.2, Build number FRG01B by Pete. The only "update.zip" file on the SD card is one from the root process. "System updates" says "Your system is currently up to date."
Looks like nothing happened.
Has rooting my phone precluded the possibility of an OTA update?
(If I had known that rooting my phone would prevent OTA updates I would not have done it.)
How can I get the OTA update to run? Where are the update files loaded? What do I do now?
I have a Rooted FRG22 droid with custom kernel. I used SPRecovery to update to the FRG22 rooted version.
I just got a system update notification for 2.2. WTF do I do? I remember hearing that the update will drain my battery (i mean, the update notification).
Why am I getting this notification? How do I make it go away?
I've scoured forums and seem to see only talk about people receiving the OTA, or using the About PhoneCheck for updates to get it, or downloading a custom rooted ROM with it.
I have a normal, unrooted D2 and I've not had an OTA, and every single time I try to do the check for updates, here is what happens:
Over wifi: The checking for updates spinning circle never stops.
Over 3g: Message Box: "Check for update was not available at this time. Try again later."
I've had this since result the 28th of October. Am I missing something?
How many people have received the update directly OTA.

But my wife loves my phone so I plan on giving her mine and either getting another eris and rooting or a Moto Droid and rooting. I've been trying to read up on the Droid and the different ROMS available and have some questions.First I want to make a few things clear:
1. This IS NOT a phone comparison.
2. The Incredilble IS NOT an option since it can't be rooted and I don't want to spend $200 on it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted HTC 2.2 unrevoked (yay) and i have been getting a message coming up everyday and saying there is an update available. I click on it and it asks to install now or later. It is an android update saying it will update the vcast suite of apps. Well I have uninstalled that crap with Titanium backup. Whatever, im adventurous and I tell it to install and it says ii will reboot and it never does. It says it is downloaded but it just never installs and it is getting annoying.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo i had my Droid Bionic (Verizon) rooted a few months back. A few weeks ago, there was an update for android firmware. I went from 2.3.4 to 4.0.4 without realizing I had to un-root my phone before.
The night I updated, my battery just so happened to run out in the middle of the night (the update was done in the morning, so the update process was obviously unaffected). I woke up to AP Flashboot Flash boot error. This was temporarily fixed with me just loading the fastboot menu and selecting Normal Powerup.
But now i would like to re-root my phone, and i was wondering if it is safe to just straight-up root it with my comp. And if im not specific enough, just let me know what information i have to include.
Onee the " official" fryo comes out will I have to flash to stock then update or can I just apply the update to my rooted phone?

I have 2 overclocking utilities. (Setcpu, and overclock widget) I understand that I have to update or flash the Kernel. The adb commands were successfull. WHen I rebooted my droid it was bricked (well not really cause I did a Nandroid backup right before I did this) It was just frozen with the white Motorola logo. Perhaps I downloaded a bad 800 mhz evilboot8.img.
I just ran a anti virus program and it says I am rooted. I do not want to be rooted. I did click on the shole updater but I never opened it up because I am a chickenshit and know my limitations. I thought the scan found the download and assumed I was rooted so I deleted the download ( I never opened or saw any type of process). AV still says I am rooted. How can I look to see if I am or not rooted?
