Wasn't sure if this should be in the troubleshooting section, since there might not be anything wrong. When I mount my EVO, all I see is my 8 gig micro SD card and no other volume. I was assuming that if I wanted to root, I'd need to actually see the EVO its self and not just the SD card.

Has anyone successfully mounted the Epic to an Apple computer? If so, what were the steps? Can you pull video off the sdcard or just music and pics?

I can now sync my phone but i cant get my pictures from my phone to my laptop. it shows the removable device for a second or two then disappears!
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have read the previous threads, but still having no luck getting my Samsung Epic to show in My Computer. So I decided to post a new thread. After connecting the phone to my PC, I select Mount and turn on USB storage on the phone then windows shows "Found New Hardware" then asks me to install the new hardware. When I install the hardware, new device shows under "Other Devices" in Device Manager with a yellow icon (?) in front of it as if it is still unrecognized device. I am not allowed to install the drivers on my PC since it is a company PC. My coworkers did not have to install drivers to get the EPIC show in My Computer.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an ATT SGS3 and today I flashed 4.2. Everything is cool, but due to multiple flashes over the past few days, I had several (0) folders on my SD card. I know this is due to 4.2 having the option to have multiple users. Since I had like 6 (0) folders, I moved my main folder back to the newest folder. The problem? While I can see the folder in Root Explorer and CWM, it does not show up when I plug it into the computer via USB. I only see one folder and nothing else.
How can I fix it so I can see this folder when plugged into the computer? The way it is now, my personal ringtones, music and everything else are not being found as they are not being seen.
The Android phones have a setting that allows you to force the notification volume to match the ringer volume, I can't seem to find that setting anywhere in SDK, can someone help me find out how to get and set it that specific setting?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm really frustrated with this. If I adjust the ringer volume with the volume rockers on the side of the phone, it only applies to phone calls. Notification volume requires going into settings and adjusting by itself. Is there an app that forces all volumes to sync with the ringer volume?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an app that plays intermittent sounds while its activity is open, and the user is always expecting it to make these noises, but unfortunately it is constrained by the music stream volume. The options I have discovered are thus:
Adjust the music stream's volume, possibly deafening the user if they happen to be playing music at the time.
Call MediaPlayer.setVolume() which is ineffective if the music stream's volume is 0. Handle volume button presses myself which presents two issues: volume button presses adjust the ringer volume unless my audio is playing, and I have been as of yet unable to catch the onKey event for a volume button press using my OnKeyListener. If there were some way to force the adjustment to apply to the music stream while my activity has focus, or to just catch the button presses myself this would work. Play a silent looping piece of audio in the background to keep the music stream in context for volume adjustments.
I think the 3rd option is probably best since it cedes control of the volume to the user, but if there were some way to just override the system volume in a single mediaplayer instance that would work too.
I need to insert approximately one million rows of data (spread over 4 tables) - each row has one or two numeric fields, and two or three text fields (normally quite short). Single-column indexes on all the fields. After doing some tests on the emulator with a small test set, I extrapolated (assuming the last row will be inserted with a similar speed to the first row) my results to figure out that this would take about 15 hours (I have a Core 2 Duo running Vista). However, then I tried running the small test set on my Hero and I was surprised to see it run more than four times faster. I would guess it would take about 3 hours on the Hero. Alternatively, I could make the pre-populated database available as a download on the first run but this is likely to be a 120MB download. I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help me with: 1. SQLite performance on the actual device being 4-5 times faster compared to the emulator - is this normal/expected? 2. Do the figures above generally sound fast/slow/normal (sorry this is so vague)? 3. From a user perspective - would it be best to provide a 120MB download or a 3 hour "first-time initialisation" step (plus 6MB download)?

I need alarm volume to always be at max so I want it independent from this. I used to have an app that could do this but i forgot what it was and the only one ive been able to find after much searching, was one that links all volumes (alarm volume included). The prog i used before let me choose which volumes to link to ringer volume, rather than making them all linked.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI dont mind the stock music player app but is there any other music player apps. the only problem i have with the stock one is that the volume is kinda low at the max. with headphones they are fine but i use my phone for music in my car and even with my speakers on max volume within my car the music is really low. and my speakers in my car are upgraded and VERY loud. is there another music player app that has lower output volumes ?

It changes the notification volume instead of media volume which is quite fustrating when trying to watch movies or listening to songs. I have to go to setting and change media volume seperatly. View 6 Replies View RelatedRooted 2.2, stock kernel etc. No ROM changes (yet). Trying to xferr some media files from internal mem to SD card. Shouldn't be this hard! USB Debugging checked, rebooted phone, stock charging cable. Connect to PC, select "MOUNT AS DISK" option on phone; AUTOPLAY pops up, but then windows explorer refuses to open and locks up. Only fix is to unplug phone from computer. Booted into Clockwork Recovery and tried to mount system. Now when I plug phone into PC, I show two new drives (good) but then when I click on them in explorer, it says "Please insert a disc into external drive" (BAD). I don't think this should be that tough! Is this a rooted phone issue? A windows issue? A general Android OS issue?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDidn't have a problem with this before on my EVO and can't recall any settings I might have changed to cause this problem but when I choose the "Disk Drive" connection for "Connect to PC" it takes a long while (minute or so) for the drive to mount. I have the default connection to "Charge Only" but when connected to my computer and I choose the "Disk Drive" option the mount is SLOW. It SEEMS to get a bit quicker if I RE-choose "Charge Only" and then go back to "Disk Drive" to mount the SD card, however, like I said above, it is MUCH SLOWER than before. I used to choose the Disk Drive option and the mount would occur RIGHT AWAY. But not it is slow.
I have installed various apps over the weeks but only recently experienced this slowness. I recall some information about USB debugging conflicting with the SD mount but that option is turned OFF on my phone. Anyone know of any apps that might be known to conflict with the SD mount?
When I plug my phone in, it auto-mounts and its very annoying, anyone know what app is doing this? I keep finding apps that do it which I don't have.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt still says 'charge only' and not 'disk drive', yet when I plug it in I can still open the folder for Evo to view contents and on the phone itself, the SD card is unavailable.
I don't know what exactly I did to cause this. Its especially strange since it says charge only on the phone. Are there any common setting or app culprits for this?
Has anyone else noticed (after froyo update) that Verizon has added a drive when the phone get's mounted to the PC? One is for the phone, two is for the SD card and the third has some kind of Verizon software/drivers on them.
I know that this has been posted before but I've had trouble finding it by searching the forum. Does anyone know what this software is and if i can remove it so it doesn't appear every time?
When I connected my phone through cable it asks for formatting internal storage... After that I'm unable to mount sd and external sd also.. When I'm mounting sd card it shows "preparing sd card" and within a second it shows "sd card safe to remove".

The pc itself will recognize that a device has been connected and begins the add new device wizard. The phone however will fail to prompt the mounting options in the notification bar. Im not really sure what could have caused this since i havent made any changes to my phone since manually installing 2.2 last week and grabbing a few new apps. BUT, I did drop my phone earlier today onto my garage floor. Any chance these mounting troubles may be a result of the fall?

1) try a different SD card - no dice
2) format the SD card - again, nothing
3) factory phone reset - nothing
I have 3 cards: a 2gb, an 8gb and a 16gb. the 16 is what I had in my Droid 1 and it had no issues whatsoever!
Has anyone had luck mounting their Droid to their computer running XP SP2? Verizon tech support says it is not possible and that mounting should be automatic if it's possible. He said my computer is too old to complete this task. That I need to update to SP3 or higher. I'm looking for a SIMPLE, non-complicated way to get photos off my camera. He suggested emailing them to myself. I have been able to get them to Picassa. Is downloading to my computer from Picassa going to be the only thing that works? All I want is simple drag and drop. When I plugged the USB cable into my computer, I was expecting the "mount" icon to appear on the top left side of the status bar re: page 38 of the user guide. But that does not show up.
The computer did recognize "new hardware" and wanted to find the driver, but could not when I let it look. Now when I check under device manager on control panel, I see a yellow explanation point on the Motorola 885 which I assume means it cannot find the driver. Is there a SIMPLE way to get the driver off the internet? Or am I looking for more trouble than it's worth? I don't want to mess with my computer settings too much.. it's a VERY flakey computer and seriously would not be worth the hassle. Non-techie here so I don't want to be messing with too many settings.
