My cousin and I just tried to do a Quick video call and we had some issues. He's in Chicago and I'm in New Orleans. He was able to see and hear me just fine but I couldn't see him nor hear him. I saw myself on the screen in a smaller window but it was just a black screen behind that.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an old unused phone running Android 2.1, I think it's a Samsung GT-I5600 or something very similar. My three year old daughter have all the computers and tablets she could ever want, so I would like this one to be a very simple telephone that she could use to make calls to preset numbers and nothing else. I would like a screen lock that's easy to unlock and then just two big pictures or buttons. One for me and one for her mum. That button should make a call, and nothing else. Perhaps there could be a hidden preference whenever the call should be made thru the speaker or not.
Any app / lockscreen like this?
is there a quick way to silence any ringtone or notification on the phone. when your in a public place and suddenly your phone is the loudest thing on earth.i'd like to be able to push a button or do something that makes it immediately stop. with my blackberry i pushed the buttons on the side (volume buttons) and it made it stop.i can't figure it out on the hero.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having a problem getting video chat to work from Fring/Skype? I applied this OTA update this afternoon, and now all i can get in Fring is audio. My FF cam shows myself, and Skype on the PC shows it's own webcam, but neither me nor the receiving PC can see each other's cams. I've done a reboot on both PC and EVO and still no video-to-video. I'm not saying it is the OTA that caused this, just wondering if someone else can test their Fring/Skype after the OTA has been installed to verify?

Maybe someone can help me. I am living in Europe and travelling quite often. So far when I was going abroed I have talked to my girlfriend using my notebook (wifi connection and using skype video call). Using the video call I was able to see her, talk to her and the other way around. Now as I bought my first smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S) I would like to do the same thing without taking my notebook to my travels.
Is there any software which will allow me to have a video call from the phone to PC? I am asking about software which work on Android 2.1 and support front face camera on the phone, so I am able to see her (and she can see mee) while talking to her!
I do not have Froyo as in my country there isn't original update yet. And I would rather wait for the official update.

I use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
I did a search here on PAR2 and QUICK PAR and found nothing. I download binaries from Usenet. These binaries are commonly checked for completeness and if need be, repair, by using a utility called QUICK PAR. It is made for Windows but can be used on Linux using Wine. I am wondering if there is a version or equivalent for use on my Droid X. A Google search turns up nothing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you are like me and have been using Quick Profiles (free in the market) to easily change system settings do yourself a favor and check out Quick Profile Pro (about $1.10). I has a very convenient widget to change profiles and now gives you a choice of 115 icons to assign to each profile (I used to use Bettercut to skin the icons - this is much easier). Quick Profiles has always been one of my most trouble free time savers (I have profiles set for my car (turns on my bluetooth and keeps screen on), work (lowers ringtones, turns of wifi and changes wallpaper), home (everything cranked up) and night (sound off). I purchased the addon to show my support for the developer. I had no idea how well thought out and implemented they designed the widget and assignable icons. This is a real keeper
