HTC Incredible :: App That Allows Video Chat - Call ?
Jun 8, 2010
I see there are several options for video chat for the evo, are there any apps that have been tested and approved for the incredible? Apple is releasing their app on the new Iphone, I would think android dev teams would create an app that can blow away any apple video chat app. i would love to see an app that allows video chat/call.

Has anyone rigged up a device to convert the back camera into a front facing camera? I may experiment with this at some point. In the past I have simply sat in front of a mirror and pointed the camera into the mirror, this way I don't need to flip the phone back and forth to video chat.
However, I am envisioning a device (perhaps made of plastic or cardboard... business cards might even work) with angled mirrors on it, that can sit on top of the phone. One mirror would be facing the camera, the other would be facing you. The second mirror would mirror your image to the mirror facing the camera. Just a thought, I haven't played with this, so the image may be upside down, requiring another mirror. Attached is a paint mock up. I'll post my results when I get around to building one. I encourage others to try and improve upon a design. Could be a cool little project.

I have the HTC EVO 4G and I can't figure out how to use video chat. I know Skype can't be used since they are in contract with Verizon. I tried Fring and when I try to video with my contacts on AIM and MSN messenger it says "AIM does not support video chat" or "Messeneger does not support video chat"..

I am sure this has been discussed before but I have the Sprint evo and am looking for a way to video chat from my cell to another pc with a program like AIM, MSN, Google talk or Yahoo Messenger. I use to be able to do it with Skype (through Fring) but now that its gone im hoping if anyone could recommend another similar application for this. I am looking for a third party software that i could video chat with through using a common chat program (AIM, MSN, Google talk, or Yahoo Messenger).

I never really gave Gtalk much attention in the 7 months I have owned my phone. But lately, specially since a lot of my friends are getting android powered phones, I have grown to really liking it. I actually like using it over text messages. I think that if I can get the majority of my friends to use it I might be able to lower my text message plan. Also since I get terrible reception in my apartment I find that having people contact me through Gtalk works out a lot better since I am on wifi at home. I would like to see a widget come out for it (which is the big advantage of text messages over it), and I hope google develops it more. I would also like to see maybe video chat integration since Gingerbread is suppose to have built in support for it.

I use the Motorola Backflip, and have been looking around for a suitable video chat app. What I'd like to do is be able to do is hold a video chat session with someone who only has access to the HTC Touch Pro 2, and a webcam enabled laptop.
I've tried Qik, but that doesn't seem to work properly on my phone. What happens is I can start recording, but if anything interrupts it at all, I won't be able to start recording again until I restart my phone.
