HTC EVO 4G :: How To Replace Phone By RadioShack?
Jun 19, 2010
I pre-ordered the Evo from my local RS and got it on launch day. Now I am 2 weeks of owning it but need a replacement due to screen separation, light leakage as well as bad earphone. Now, RS has problems stocking up the Evo units. The manager told me to call Sprint (all their Evos are sold out as well, no??) to check if they can send a replacement unit. Has anyone gotten their phone replaced by RS yet? How do I go on about doing so? I noticed that RS return for exchange policy lasts up to 30 days... Does that mean, I have to get a replacement unit within that timeframe?

I'm super bummed. I'm currently evaluating Android phones and have looked at a lot of them (basically all of the decent HTC phones and the Samsung Epic). The Fascinate is a real stand out and I'd love to keep it. But, as per my thoughts on Bing, I'm going to cash this and go with Sprint. Before I walk away though, I wanted to check here. Anyone heard of a decent approach to getting this phone back to using Google, as God intended it? Specifically, I want to use the dedicated search button to pull up Google text and voice search. Adding Google as a bookmark to the browser isn't really a solution, IMO.

Some of you may remember when I posted about my cell phone contract being sold to AT&T from Verizon. Well, I am very close now to getting a new "comparable" phone from AT&T to replace my Moto Droid. The new phone that they will most likely be sending me is the HTC Aria. Anybody have any thoughts about this phone? Is it a good phone? Is it comparable to the Moto Droid? To be honest, I plan on switching back to Verizon after all this mess anyway. I am just curious (in the rare event that I might be stuck with the phone) as to whether or not this is a good replacement (even though nothing can replace my droid .... I love it so much).

I am used to doing my music and playlists through Itunes. Now that I have my EVO, I would like to use my EVO as my music player instead of carrying my phone and iPOD everywhere. Please help me and suggest the proper apps to use to allow me to create and save playlists as well as a good music player.

I was wondering if anyone knows if there's an app to replace the ID Caller. I would love something similar to the iPhone, where the Picture when someone calls is huge. Just seems that so much screen space is lost on the Android.

I have two questions:
1. What should I do if I want to replace the contact program with my own?
2. If I don't replace it. Can I just add something to it? like a menu item, or something. If possible, how to do it?

I use my daytimer more so as a notebook than for planning my day. I use my outlook/android calendar to keep track of appointments. I mainly use my daytimer to keep track of things that occur during the day or things I need to remember for later that day. I also keep track of time I worked at a specific client so I have it when I go through later in the week and prepare invoices. So, is there an app that would work well for that? I am thinking some kind of journal program maybe.

I think that is for a malfunction of GPS fault driver. I wanted existing driver that is from Custom Rom / system / app / YGPS.apk replaced by the factory driver.
I have a Nandroid backup of the factory ROM (file: boot.img, cache.img, data.img, system.img and nandroid.md5).
But I do not know where this factory driver is located. How removed from Nandroid backup and put in a cell phone.

I just called Sprint customer service about my rebooting Evo and after a visit to the store and a hard reset that did nothing, they offered to replace it for me but at a cost of $35.00. I have replaced 2 Pres in the past year and not once did I have to pay anything. Is this a new policy? Are the other carriers charging to replace phones under warranty?

Has anyone else had the issue where when you launch ADW you can't access all the same widgets as you could without it? When I use ADW launcher I can't seem to access the Media & Web player widgets that I can normally access - those are the lovely little spinning pieces that display your pictures/wallpapers/music or your browser bookmarks. I'm on the Acer Liquid E - 2.1. Are there any decent programs to replace these two widgets or should I replace ADW? I'd like to keep ADW so I can have 7 screens without modding my phone. Or is there a replacement for ADW that will let me have more screens and access all my regular widgets?

I've been doing a LOT of trying different ROMs and themes, and want to get in to a bit of designing myself. The actual icon designing I can do. What I need to know is the best way to implement it.I'm referring to the icons for specific apps (i.e. Market, Gmail, etc.). I was thinking I could open the .apk and replace the files that way, but that would mean an update for the app would un-do my work, right?I know there are apps out there that replace the launcher that allow you to change icons, but from what I remember, they are normally buggy. Has this changed? So, what is everyone's opinion on the BEST way to replace icons?
