HTC EVO 4G :: How Do I Get Phone Internet On Computer?

I'm moving and in a fit of cost-cutting I've decided to just use this phone for internet. Only thing I really use the computer for netwise is downloading torrents which I can do when I get a 32gb card and for listening to music which I can already do. Still, I'd like to have the web browsing and keyboard features and whatever. I want the net on the computer. what is the best way for cheapest? I really don't want to tether with sprint.

I'm trying to share my Internet from my laptop to my Milestone wireless. I've read in here that Android doesn't support ad-hoc, and I don't have a wireless router so that leaves me with blue tooth. So my big Q is: "Can you share your Internet from your computer to a Android-device via blue tooth?

I am creating an Android application. This application should send message to computer via internet and Wifi (check whether if the device is using internet). The main function is by pressing on a button in Android device a message should go to computer via internet (I don't know, but I think it should be with UDP). I know that I need to set the server for computer and write down IP and port to the android app code. I don't have any clue how to do it. I kinda need to create a computer (windows 7) server receiver, which would receive messages. I am using Eclipse Android SDK

i'm looking for a way to make phonecalls with my computer+Logitech G230, through my android device (Jiayu G4 Advanced)
The Remotecall app in Playstore still requires me to pick up my phone in order to actually hear something..
its got all the other features i'd like to use: answer calls from my PC, make calls from pc (from , for example, the outlook contactlist), call Log capability; but i have to pick up my phone when i probably can just hear it through my headphone (connected to PC)
I think i should be looking for some sort of voip server on my phone and let my computer act as voip client, but i'm not entirely sure about that.

I have used sync to backup my phone numbers onto my computer but they are appearing in the windows contacts as just the phone numbers but no names.
Is tehre any program i can use to backup my phone numbers with names from my phone onto my computer?

Dumb question but how? Had the phone since launch and I must not take many pictures because I hadn't tried to transfer photos off the phone until today except for a couple 'shares' to Facebook. Was about to do this and can't find where they are on the sd card.

When connecting an EVO to a computer are you shown just the information on the SD card or information from the actual phone or Both???? im wanting to be able to view applications that i have downloaded from the android market. There is one app that i have uninstalled but doesn't delete from the download list and i want to see where it is located on the phone that way i can delete it/modify it myself. 2.2 isnt out yet so i know its not gunna be on the sd card.... BTW -- what does everyone think about the Ultra Notes app or TXT PAD LITE app???? what "NOTE" apps do yal use?

I have solved the problem of the phone not connecting to the computer! Just needed to buy a new DCU 100 cable for the darn thing! Big thanks to Toe-cutter who was very patient with both my lack of knowledge and of patience! I'm looking for some help in connecting my Hero to my computer. I haven't has problems until today but now I can't get the darn phone to connect. I have tried my work computer (Windows XP) and my home computer (Vista) and I have also tried four different usb cables, including the HTC one. I have also done a factory reset, taking the battery out and anything else I can think of including reinstalling the drivers & HTC sync If anyone can help I'd appreciate it - I need to be able to sync my phone to my calendar for work. Oh, by the way - I am not in the slightest way technically competent!

I know a smart phone is only as smart as the user but I can' connect to my computer. I get a message that the software could not be found when I plug into the usb port anyone else have this problem? I did a search on the inc. thread and couldn't come up with anything.

Trying to connect a HTC Hero to my computer, it used to connect ok as i used to use the phone as a modem for my laptop, but now instead of the charger light coming on & charging and the little symbol saying it was connected in the top elft of the screen it ONLY charges the phone but the little symbol doesnt come up in the top left and i cant find the device on my computer, iv tried new cables etc but still no joy, any ideas?

This is the fastest way that I know of right now to get a web page displaying on your PC in a browser to your phone. You will need the following applications; Either Google Chrome and QR-tag extension generator(for Chrome), or Firefox and QR-tag extension generator(for Firefox) , and this one for your phone Barcode Scanner v3.3 Application for Android you don't have to use this app there are many others out there(doesn't have to be an Incredible phone either). It should be pretty easy to figure this out now that you see the apps involved but I will explain. First is the obvious, you need to get all apps installed and running on both pieces of hardware. Second when you are on the web page you would like to take with you you simply click on the QR-Code app in your toolbar of Chrome and it will display a QR-code then open your QR-Code reader on your phone and line up the QR-code in its sights. Then simply select web browser and your there.

I just bought my HTC Hero a few days ago and just found this forum as well. I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to sync my phone to my computer. I didn't get any CD with it. I am also wondering if I hard reset my phone back to factory default, will all the apps, etc that were there out of the box, still be there? If I can sync with my computer, can I put my contacts back on from my computer? And, finally, there is a "notice" type "bell" sound every so often on my phone, but I have checked messages and phone calls as well as email, plus there are no notifications at top...what might it be? Thanks for your help. Hope I haven't posted something that has been talked about a million times before.

I keep having this minor problem when usin msn talk on my galaxy s, nothing really big but anyhow. When I log in with my phone it changes my display name to something that I can change on my phone, but because I can't get any really special characters to work (well actually just one, D with a stroke) I can't get the same name on my phone as my normal msn on computer has. Okay well I could live with that, but when I log off from my phone it doesn't revert the change but it changes the display name on my computer's msn too! It gets really annoying to change my display name every single time I log in with my computer. And it does the exact same thing with my personal message. So the question is, can this be prevented in any way? ps: does anyone know how I can get that stock sms app to mark every sms as "read" when I've responded?

The files on my phone, such as photos and videos, don't show up in the internal storage when i plug in my phone to the computer. So i can't drag and drop anything. I installed HTC sync manager on my computer, but when i try to connect with the phone it says some bull**** on the phone like "make sure you have installed the application on the computer and that it is open" I have installed it and it is open!!! What do i do? why is this so needlessly complicated????

i got an S3.. and my computer has xp pro. i had to restore my computer recently from a saved image of my system. before i restored my computer, i was able to connect my S3 to it via USB with no problem. but after i restored it, i'm unable to.
i downloaded and installed the MTP driver, which got my computer to recognize my phone before i restore it. but now its not working and i dont see it listed in Device Manager. whats weird is that when i connect my S3 to my computer, the phone doesnt give any notifications that the phone is connected to USB like it used to before. and it also doesnt give me the 2 options of connecting by either MTP or Camera. all it does is charge my phone.

i rooted my phone around a couple weeks ago, and have been trying different types of roms. Today i decided to switch to the fresh2.0d rom and so i placed the zip folder in the root of the sd card. i booted in recovery and selected flash from zip. Once complete, my phone keeps rebooting at the "HTC Quietly brilliant" screen. It does it over and over again. i tried reflashing, taking out the battery and nothing happens. I cant connect to the computer and have no idea what to do.
