Is there any sort of IM client out there that you can text to mobile phones with. Much like you can with facebook chat? I was sitting here chatting with a friend over facebook and wanted to get a hold of another friend, but not on my phone and he was not on facebook. I just wanted to text him from my computer....

I'm looking to upgrade my phone. Aside from normal phone use my main goal is to get a phone that will send a text message to a very large group of people all at once. My current phone Samsung Epic 4g Touch will do this but i have to create the message and then from the address box go to the group and one by one touch in each member (almost 200 in the group). I have my groups already but i would like to just add the whole group all at once. I don't care about the responses being in the same thread or anything else, I just want to add the group all at once to the address box.

The Remotecall app in Playstore still requires me to pick up my phone in order to actually hear something..
its got all the other features i'd like to use: answer calls from my PC, make calls from pc (from , for example, the outlook contactlist), call Log capability; but i have to pick up my phone when i probably can just hear it through my headphone (connected to PC)
I think i should be looking for some sort of voip server on my phone and let my computer act as voip client, but i'm not entirely sure about that.
I have a verizon GS3 and when i connect it to any computer it recognizes it as a cd drive, i have installed and uninstalled and reinstalled the correct drivers but still nothing, i cant figure it out. I need to back up everything on my phone cuz i want to do a clean wipe and install a rom
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe files on my phone, such as photos and videos, don't show up in the internal storage when i plug in my phone to the computer. So i can't drag and drop anything. I installed HTC sync manager on my computer, but when i try to connect with the phone it says some bull**** on the phone like "make sure you have installed the application on the computer and that it is open" I have installed it and it is open!!! What do i do? why is this so needlessly complicated????
View 3 Replies View Relatedi got an S3.. and my computer has xp pro. i had to restore my computer recently from a saved image of my system. before i restored my computer, i was able to connect my S3 to it via USB with no problem. but after i restored it, i'm unable to.
i downloaded and installed the MTP driver, which got my computer to recognize my phone before i restore it. but now its not working and i dont see it listed in Device Manager. whats weird is that when i connect my S3 to my computer, the phone doesnt give any notifications that the phone is connected to USB like it used to before. and it also doesnt give me the 2 options of connecting by either MTP or Camera. all it does is charge my phone.
I want to know if I am able to root my note lte (gt-n7005) without the computer? Is there a software or an app where I can install superuser and root my Android without the computer?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an android phone (Moto Droid Mini XT1030, though i wouldn't think it should matter) and i want the pictures i take with it to automatically be sent to a folder on my PC everytime i am connected to a wifi network. Currently they automatically go to Google+ which is of debatable value. Sometimes Google products are fantastic and other times they seem to be missing such blatantly obvious features that it makes me crazy... but i digress.
I don't want to install any 3rd party apps if at all possible, especially on the PC. I already have G Drive installed on the PC and a drive folder would be sufficient (as opposed to a conventional folder on the PC) if that's easier to accomplish.
Wanted to know if there was a way to download my purchased apps to my computer and then send them to my phone over the USB connector.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just gotten a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 to go with my S3 and now that I have more than one device floating around my house, I'm wondering if there is a better way to share files and data among them than to hook each to my computer separately and then transferring stuff around by USB. I'm looking into Kies, but in the past, I've never been able to get it to work correctly, so I'm not sure if this will work any better on this attempt. Am I on the right path, or is there something different / better than Kies that I could use to have all three devices available on the network for sharing?
I guess I should probably ask if what I want is even possible... I'd really like an always on type of networking where as long as the device is online, I can push data back and forth (ie if my tablet is at home sleeping, and there is a file I want to get from it, I can access it from my phone and vis versa). In addition to that, I'd like a similar connection to exist between my two mobile devices and my computer so I can transfer files back and forth with the computer without having to take up desk space by connecting the device with USB.
I used to be able to just plug the phone into the computer via USB and a drive letter would appear and I would be able to easily move files off the phone and to my computer.
Now when I plug the phone in Media Share pops up with numerous menus and sub menus. Best I've been able to figure out to do is copy one individual file at a time to some mystery folder somewhere on my network. Or using DLNA it opens up Windows Media Player on my computer which shows previews of the photos but no way to transfer the actual files.
I'm having an issue that I can't figure out...
I'm using HTC Email on my EVO and my Trash folder is showing completely empty on the phone, no matter what download options I set (xx messages, xx days, ALL). I know the Trash folder is not truly empty because my regular PC mail program shows over 9000 messages.
- my email is setup as an IMAP account through 1and1.com
- the Trash folder is the only one that is not showing any emails when it should be
- I have checked to make sure there's not an alternate Trash Emails, Garbage, Recycle Bin, etc folder that is being used for deleted emails on my email account
- this same behavior is being exhibited when I setup my email account on an HTC Hero

but when i connect it to the computer, i am not able to transfer files between computer and phone as there is no option for it.my reverse tethering is working fine. on my phone it shows usb debugging mode.
I've read a good amount on how to stream content from your computer to an Android tablet or phone, but is there a way to go in opposite direction? I'd like to wirelessly play the podcasts on my phone to speakers in my Thunderbolt monitor.

I just bought and IGO micro juice 2.1 amp. when connected make the phone think that is connected to a computer.I notice when that happen the phone charge super slow even with this charger rated at 2.1. if I run to apps at the same time its start discharging. MY 3 year old Igo charge alot faster even running a few apps at the same time.Is there any way that change that I feel that i waste my money with this charger if i canot make it charge like is a 2.1 amp.

I am running a CM11 Nightly on my jfltevzw. I am trying to update to a new nightly by dragging and dropping it onto my phone, the way I always do. However for some reason when I try to do it now, I get an error message saying "Cannot copy item: This device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." even though it shows up on my explorer. It was working fine like a day ago. I have rebooted my computer and everything, but it just won't work.

This was yesterday and the phone has been fine But about an hour ago 3G no longer connects and I cant do any text messages. Any idea what could be wrong. Went back to Fresh 2.3.3
I am now trying Cynogens again... Wiped everything, re-flashed.
Weirdness is now happening. Many of the apps that I previously downloaded are now on the Cynogen rom (and shouldn't be). I go into Market and it shows that I am downloading things and when I cancel it FC's the Market. How do I completely erase everything and start over?
I just had a quick question on the Samsung Moment. I'm using the default messaging app (I've also used handcent) it feels the same. I've noticed that while texting sometimes it may lag a bit. Has anybody noticed this? Is there anyway to fix this?

View 17 Replies View RelatedI can text anyone outside my area code, but when I try it with anyone in my area code I get a message that says to use the proper 10 digit phone number. I understand what that means, and have the 10 digit numbers programed for all my contacts, but when I hit on a contact and hit the text button only the 7 digit number comes up. That works fine with voice calls, but not with texting. I've been through my phone 20 times trying to find a way to make it use a 10 digit number for texting, can't find it.
