Is there a way to view my Gmail contacts on my computer without an internet connection? I travel outside the country and may not have internet from time to time and without cdma coverage I may need to get my contacts from my computer instead of my Droid.

I am creating an Android application. This application should send message to computer via internet and Wifi (check whether if the device is using internet). The main function is by pressing on a button in Android device a message should go to computer via internet (I don't know, but I think it should be with UDP). I know that I need to set the server for computer and write down IP and port to the android app code. I don't have any clue how to do it. I kinda need to create a computer (windows 7) server receiver, which would receive messages. I am using Eclipse Android SDK

When I connected my cellphone to the internet my cellphone contacts got contaminated with all my gmail contacts. This really pisses me off.
Aside from manually going through and deleting them, how can i turn this feature off?
Does anybody else notice at times their internet connection hanging? It will sometimes partially load a page and then not respond for minutes after. I end up force closing the browser, waiting a few minutes and then trying again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my Droid connected to my computer via the USB that came in the box. The phone recognizes the cable, chimes, and has the USB icon on the screen. But the computer doesn't recognize the phone at all. It could be a problem with my computer, but I'm checking here in case I just can't find the option on the phone to "allow USB connection" or something.

For some reason I can't access the gmail account on my computer but I can through my phone. Why can't I access it on my computer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had WiFi tethering for awhile now, but I have never got it to work properly. The problem is that I will have, say, my laptop, or any device for that matter, connected to my Droid and I am able to maintain a steady internet connection for about a minute. After that, the tethering application reports a download speed of 0.0kbps. If I disconnect my laptop (or other device) and reconnect it, it'll start to work again, but only for about another minute. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

I tried sending a test message and it never comes up. Does anybody have any suggestions as why the "No Connection" message comes up in the Gmail app, or how to fix it?

For instance contact #1 has a gmail account I can see the picture that they update on their gmail account and statuses but contact #2 doesn't show anything from there gmail account. Is there a way to get this contacts to all link to there gmail, if they have a gmail account?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had to drive to someones housethat I had never been to so I opened up gmail and tried to view the email the guy sent me, well he sent me two emails the one with his address being the first and for some reason I couldn't view the first one only the second on my droid! Frustrated I booted up the pc and just found it in gmail on the pc what gives? Under the newest email it had a little "(2)" though. I'm missing something here but what? It would have been easier to pull up the email click the address and open up maps and drive there instead of having to do all that.

Can droid do the same thing? Also it let her sync her contacts with facebook profile. This put the facebook picture next to the contact, and found birtday for the calander. View 9 Replies View RelatedI'll be getting a Droid about the middle of next week. Most my Google contacts don't have phone numbers attached, just e-mail addresses. I also have a Google Voice account and number and plan on using it for most of my phone traffic (which really isn't all that much). About a dozen of my contacts are in there now with their e-mails and phone numbers.
Most my e-mail contacts (a couple hundred) aren't divided into groups right now.
Do I need to clean up my contacts before getting the Droid and syncing things up? Any tips for doing so if needed? I don't want to mess up my Droid right off the bat if there are some things I go do in advance to make getting up and running smoother.
ok i have contants that are on my phone but i can't find out how to get them to be saved on gmail so when i wipe my phone i have all my contacts? some how my contacts where removed from my gmail but still are on my phone and when i go to gmail to readd them it shows up double on my phone.

As long as the contacts are in my contacts everything syncs fine. when I put contacts in those groups that I created they never show up on my phone. Is there a setting I am missing? View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter I installed and evaluated the Companionlink software for syncing Outlook contacts, calendar, tasks and notes to my Droid, I noticed the gmail contacts were no longer syncing via the gmail sync. However, the gmail calendar and mail were not affected. I uninstalled all of the Companionlink stuff but the contacts still do not sync. Anyone know how I can get the contacts to sync via gmail again? Short of "reset user data on phone"?
