i know froyo added the ability to sync events with facebook ... i was wondering if there was a way to have it only sync the events and not the birthdays since having everyones birthday in the calendar is annoying for me.

When I add events on the phone through the native app it syncs as an invitation in the desktop version. Is it possible to get it to create actual events instead of inviting myself to my homework or doctor's appointment?

Problem is, I can't find them in the options... If I go to the Facebook app, I see them, but when I go to the Google contact to try to link it, they aren't there. I've done some searches and it seems like they are supposed to just pop up randomly. It's been almost a week and that hasn't happened yet.

I've got three requirements: -An easily manageble "to do"-list om the home screen (e.g stickynotes) -A good calendar (which may or may not be able to sync with google calendar, no biggie!) -Ability to sync my adress book with an online server (google sync?) every month or so...(That was two years' worth of contacts, damnit Anyway, my question is this: Would an android phone really be the best choice for me? I'm kinda on a tigt budget, and I've heard horror stories of Android phones/Iphones having to connect to the net every day or so... But the only thing I really need the internet for is for syncing (the adress book once a month, the calendar every week or so), checking my mail now and then and for downloading the occasional app (e.g. stickynotes).

But what will happen if froyo is added into the final update? I would expect they would be in the same shape as many of us rooters now with the leaked version. Just thinking ahead if we will be able to install another leaked or modified version of the update over what we have now and just have it add froyo since testers are not going to be able to roll back what they have already on their end.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI've had my (generic) Desire for a few weeks now, and have a really nagging/annoying problem in that, where i've added contacts (on the phone memory) and then synced with facebook, it's pulling in their mobile phone number from facebook, but is defaulting to 447584... and will not let me call the contact without first editing the number to read 07584...
The only way around this so far as i can tell, is to manually add the number again as a 'Home' number but with a 0 in place of 44, as re-adding as a mobile just defaults back to the 447584... and then assigning the 'Home' number as the primary contact number. Does anyone have any ideas whether this is a bug or something i've done myself, and also whether there is a way i can update my whole phonebook to change the 44's for 0's rather than manually going through and changing them?
my contacts list is growing quickly, thanks to facebook.
the problem is that i get emailed when someone replies to a post i make. if i reply to that email, sent by facebook, it updates the facebook post (which i like) but it also adds the facebook email message to my contacts. since each facebook email is different my contacts list is growing quickly.
is there a way to stop the facebook replies being added to my contacts, while still keeping other replies being added to my contacts?
Anytime I add a contact detail via the handset if I let it sync, either via Google or SE, the contact will be wiped which is pretty useless (basically I cannot add new contacts on the handset, preposterous!). I contacted SE help, they recommended I use the software update program to update the handset software. I have done this but the update software tells me the handset is running the latest software, the problem persists.

I had a few questions that I saw on here, but I'm not 100% about.
1. Does this come with a cable to connect to the PC? The Eris's charger was both a charger and a cord to connect to the PC, really like this ability.
2. Does Droid have the ability to run Froyo WITHOUT rooting?
3. Can you comment on some things I may find annoying or cumbersome with the phone?
4. Can you comment on the benefits I will get?
I had my Android phone set up at the store to synchronize with Facebook.The trouble is, any even anyone in my Facebook list enters shows up on my phone calendar. My phone is cluttered with other people's events in which I have no interest, to the extent that my ability to see what is on my calendar is impaired. This is true both with the native app and CalendarPad which I downloaded specifically to get around this, and also for events I have declined.Anyone know of a way to keep Facebook events off my Android calendars?

I also like the idea of having my friends' birthdays auto load into events from facebook. However, I don't want ALL the birthdays of my facebook friends on my cal, if that makes sense.
In other words, I have too many friends. Does anyone know how to manually choose which birthdays you get events for? Or is it simply time to start dumping some excess facebook friendage?
I have my facebook synced with my calendar, now I came from Web OS and if you would confirm to an event, it would show up in your calender, if you would put maybe/not attending, it wouldn't for those pesky 2 month events that people love to make. Now my problem is that I have it synced, and double checked and I am declined for the events and even have the "hide declined events" checked but yet they are still being displayed.
