I bought a used working EVO. I activated it and I noticed that when I turn it on, The data connection does not start. When I go into Settings/Wireless & networks, the Monile Network says Connection failed. If I turn it off and back on, it connects fine. Is there a setting that I am missing that is causing this problem? I rooted it before activating so I don't know if I should take it back to stock. But I would prefer not to.

I would like advice from those with 2.2 on Orange. I've had my Desire for 2 months now and love it-apart from one thing-the damned Internet connection. Quite often, with a strong 3G+ (HSDPA) signal, my internet connection fails to load data. Then, a few minutes later, in the same location, it works perfectly. I know for a fact that this is not a network only problem. The reason I know this is because I previously used the exact same SIM in my iphone for 6 months in the very same locations and it always worked perfectly.
Therefore, my strong suspicion is that the problem is a result of the combination of the Orange branding on a Desire and the network itself. I'm sure I read of a couple of posters here who had the very same problems and when they moved to 2.2 the problem disappeared. Can anyone confirm? I've been waiting patiently for the Orange update to 2.2 but am getting fed up and I'm concerned that the Orange bloatware may still cause an issue after this. Hence, I'm considering a debrand and update myself.

How do I detect there is no internet connection?
How do I popup a same dialog in my application?
What's the technical term for being able to have voice connection and data connection simultaneously? Like AT&T was promoting heavily for a while.Apparently, the new T-Mobile Vibrant has this capability. A friend got one and was accessing the web while talking to me, double jealous now.I have benn lusting after the Verizon version, Fascinate, and wondering if there is any chance it will as well.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to upgrade my ROM from the 1.7v. I dl'd the RUU file and did everything as required. However, when the bootloader tries to connect I get a prompt, "ERROR[171]:USB Connection ERROR". It asks me to make sure that the phone is connected to the USB cable and for the USB cable to be connected to the PC. Both are connected but I noticed that the phone is powered off. It will not power back on while connected. It will once I disconnect it from USB cable. This leads me to believe that the phone starts to do what it is supposed to but somehow disconnects.

However, within the last day, I've been getting an error message which reads "Connection Failed: This application requires network access. Enable mobile network or Wi-Fi to download data." I've gotten this message when initiating the browser, going into email, etc. Of course, I can't access anything via the web.
When I go to settings, mobile network is checked off, although it does say "turning on..."
I've used Twidroid Pro for about a month now, but I've never tried the built in search feature up until today. I can search for "Tweets" without a problem, but when I search for "Users" I get a Twidroid Error: Connection Failed every time. Has anyone else been getting this error? Any ideas on how to fix it? I would send a report to Twidroid but I can't figure out how to contact them from their site.

I was navigating the other day, and a call came in and I answered with the handsfree system in the car. When directions came up, it cut in the call, and announced the directions over the speakers. Is there any way to directly do this for navigation only?
Another quick question. I have my phone set up with my Mac Book Pro. I can send files with bluetooth to the laptop, but when I go to browse the phone from the computer, it says connection failed. I do have ftp turned on on the phone.
having been notified that my x10 mini required an update I connected to PC using PC companion. The update failed halfway through and could not be restarted (battery was fully charged at start of update).
The phone now will not switch on and only displays a triangle with an attention symbol in the middle of it. I have tried the reset (home button and power on together) and also have tried to connect to PC companion to re-try update, however because the the phone only displays the triangle i cannot connect to PC and therefore cannot load software update. I effectively now have a very pretty paper weight.
I've already got a facebook account and use it regularly. I can't seem to register the account information on the X10 but I can access my account through the facebook app itself. I've updated the app from the android market and still doesn't allow me to register my account. I keep getting the message "connection failed".

However, once I installed it; when I go to open Lock 2.0 for the menu; the screen that says, "Please wait while we download the default skin..." pops up, but just as quick as that appears, a box stating, "Downloading failed, restart app to retry, make sure you have unplugged your usb connection"
This is pretty annoying, as so far I've tried:
1. Killing the app and restarting it
2. Rebooting the phone
3. Uninstalling and Installing
Nothing is working and I really want to start using this app! I even downloaded the demo free version to see maybe it was an issue between the paid and free; but same issues. I'm currently rocking a HTC Magic running Sense UI 1.5. Anyone encounter similar problems? or possibly know of any way to fix this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone indicated that the SD card was damaged. I had to re-format. I lost all my data and music I downloaded from Amazon. I have been able to use the SD card after formatting but am concerned that it may crap out again. I am going to try to get a new one from Verizon, however it may be better to buy a new one from a 3rd party.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy droid razr was installing an automatic update, made an error and then failed ultimately. It happened over night, so I wasn't even paying attention to it. This morning it was stuck with no service, no data, nothing. I tried turning it off and then back on, putting airplane mode on and then off. No luck. I then did a factory reset. Now it just says "please wait, this may take a few minutes." It does not change. I waited as long as the batter would stay charged. Still nothing.
I also tried re activating it on the verizon wireless website. No luck.
Any reason why i would no longer have network/data connection? The 3g icon is missing. my mobile network is in fact enabled and it was working fine about an hour ago. any ideas on how to fix this?

I can still make calls though.
Does anyone know what setting might have changed or anything I can do to get my data back?
When I'm in a call over a month ago, I was able to check on the traffic in the maps app..but now when i try to do that, i get the message "connection data lost" and therefore am not able to check the traffic until I am done with my call. I search and didn't come up with any in call answers.

The "3G" will dim itself after a period of inactivity even with having three or more bars of signal strength. For most applications this is not a issue but it reeks havoc on Google Talk (have "automatically sign in enabled) and sometimes the Android Market.My phone has been doing this for a while. I just updated to Fresh 3.2 and installed the latest radios. Still having the same problem. What can I do to fix this? Has anyone else had this problem before.

A bit like the battery stats that says which application has been using the battery but for data connection if you see what I mean.

I noticed that my data connection is always (3g is always visible). i know how to turn it off through settings, but when i try to use any apps that require internet connection, i would have to go through the settings and turn it on manually. is it possible to make this experience easy? i would like something that can easily and quickly turn the connection off and automatically turn it on when it needs to be on?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAll the sudden today i just lost my 3g data connection. I actually saw the airplane symbol for a min or two as well. I toon it to sprint and they couldnt get the data connection back thy tried some kind of "activation" which didnt work then they wanted to have the phone for a day which j cjldnt do today. Now i disabled the 3g on the phone and turned it back off and on again and it said it was runnjng the activation again but this time t ran through and i turned 3g back on and the arrows show up but they never flash but i am on the pjone now posting this.

Even when wifi is turned off, the mobile network gives this message "Use phone for data connection when wifi is unavailable".
My wifi is turned off and the 3G connection is also strong. With this issue, I cannot access the internet as the browser or the app says that there are connection issues
Evo has locked up on data connection.One minute data is working great and then, No internet, app store, etc. and anything I try to do brings up a dialogue box that says retry or cancel, and that I need internet network access. Phone still works, but does occasionally seem to not hang up on first try.
When I go to settings - wireless & networks, it shows a box "trying to connect" but nothing happens. 4g, bluetooth and wifi are turned off. I have to completely restart phone and the data is back. This has happened about 5 times. Phone issue or Sprint issue. I am in Atlanta, and can get 4g coverage around my house and area. 3 g goes from great to low in same spots.
I have a Droid Incredible. Working fine, suddenly this am, after a phone reset, the data no longer worked. Phone and texting are fine. Under settings > wireless and networks > Mobile network it is dark grey, and says "Turning on"..... over and over.
Spent 45 minutes with tech support. Nothing. Did 2 factory resets, checked the network settings in the phone, checked the settings on their end, nothing worked.
So, they say, we will need to replace your phone. Then, we have no Incredibles in stock. So, they call my local store, who also has none in stock of course. So they say they may be getting some in tonight or tomorrow, supposedly they are going to call me tomorrow and give me an update. I wonder if anyone else has had data issues requiring phone replacement? I guess since I talked to VZW there's nothing else that I could check on the phone.
