My phone indicated that the SD card was damaged. I had to re-format. I lost all my data and music I downloaded from Amazon. I have been able to use the SD card after formatting but am concerned that it may crap out again. I am going to try to get a new one from Verizon, however it may be better to buy a new one from a 3rd party.

Do not update your profile via Setting/System Updates.
It deletes your pictures, videos, and movies. Just an FYI in a more prime location since not everyone reads the troubleshooting forum.

If you must do it, back your SD card up first.
I have lost every thing on my sd card music, pistures, ringtones, all of it. I'm not sure what did it but the last message I got was there was too many songs on it and that is not true. It's an 8gb card with 700+ songs 15 pics and 4 ringtones so it being full is bs. I don't know what killed it but I suspect Ringdroid or 91Pandhome both have been acting funny for a couple of days force closing alot. Anyone else have this happen to them and is there a way to recover the data on the card as my laptop just does not see it anymore.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhile driving across iowa i suddenly lost access to the internet and in my top bar had a large, empty triangle and another triangle w. an ! in the middle of it, telling me i'd lost my data pkg. because. . . (and then it ended). i had no internet access after that for 2 days until i returned home and it came back at exactly the same spot on the interstate where i'd lost it. i was in major metro areas during these 2 days and my wife's incredible always had internet access while i did not.

Then as I started getting calls throughout the day, I noticed that all of my contacts had their ringers reset to the default ringer instead of their custom one. I haven't seen or heard of this problem anywhere else. I know people have had their messages completely wiped but this seems to be only Phone data.

I just checked on my home computer and it's still there, however why doesn't it appear on my phone? I even went to the Google doc website on my phone and every document was blank. I tried restoring w/ titanium and didn't have any luck with that. I tried opening the application and clearing data, however after reassigning my accounts I still had blank documents. View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I recently rooted my phone and switched to the Kangerade 1.1 rom running a chevy kernel. I pretty much have no issues EXCEPT for the fact that maps wont function unless I am on wifi. Once I am using 3g I just get data connection lost, and then it loops....I am using version 4.3 of maps, my wife's phone is also rooted with kangerade using a p3 kernel but with maps 4.2 and she gets the same results.

I put it in usb mode and no go.The last time I did this was about 3 weeks ago and as soon as I plugged my phone into the laptop, it immediately came up as drive G:this time when i plug it in, it tries to open and the drive G i see the folders then it says Please insert a disk into Removable Disk (G I don't understand why this is happening. I just want to be able to plug my phone into any computer and access it for drag and drop. Can i do this? Or do i have to have a special program for this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust got my Droid 2 FedEx today, and am getting her all set up. I was using an LG Dare before. I had an micro 2GB card that had all my pictures, music, videos and contact photos (picture ID pictures).
It was easy going from an old Verizon phone to another old Verizon phone because the file structure was the same for all the SD formatted cards (MY_PIX, MY_FLIX, etc...).
In looking at the 8GB card that came w/ the Droid 2, there seems to be no such structure. There are directories, (.android_secure, Android, logs, and LOST.DIR) but I am not sure where to put my videos, pictures, etc. Any thoughts?

I don't know if this is a problem with using double twist to sync music then the default player to play it, but i recently wiped all my phones music using double twist media sync program and then put some more music on... after this i went into the default music player and it was very lagy and showed songs that i had removed with double twist but when i went to play them it would play a random song that was on the phone... does anyone know how to get the media player on droid x to rescan your SD card so i can realize that some songs are gone now?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, the moron at the Verizon store who was activating my replacement Droid decided to import or retrieve contact data from my broken droid / SD card....he didn't know that it handled all the contacts from the cloud. As soon as I entered my gmail login it imported all my contacts and so, now I have contacts with duplicate data and some contacts that are now just phone numbers. I tried deleting the contact data and resyncing but it appears to be grabbing this duplicate data from somewhere. All my contacts are CLEAN in gmail when viewed online. But if I look on the phone, when go to edit them each person has 1 contact with multiple google contacts merged together. The problem is, any time I go to search contacts or enter a contact in email or create a contact shortcut, all of them are appearing twice in the selection list.
I went through each contact and split the merges, essentially deleting the dupes, but they are still appearing multiple times in the search/selection lists....and when I resync the dupes come back. I don't see anything that looks like contact data/backup on the SD card and don't know if that is something that can be deleted from the phone's memory or not?
[I know I can deleted all the dupes, but my concern is that I did this already and they came back. Is this data stored anywhere else that it might be pulling it from again when I sync?]
I was composing a message and the phone got stuck when I was about to select the recipients. (Wanted to group send message so that's why I was not answering directly.) After waiting for a while the phone was still not responding then I forced to shut down and turned it on again. Okay I again edited the same text and tap to choose receivers. Good grief! NO CONTACTS! EMPTY! Why? What happened?
I first tried to sync Gmail contacts back to my Sony Xperia, however when I logged in to Gmail and it was the same! NO CONTACTS!
Long story short, I finally found Myjad Android Contact Recovery which seems to be useful because I want simply the contacts. So any example of trying successfully restoring lost contacts with this program?
My droid razr was installing an automatic update, made an error and then failed ultimately. It happened over night, so I wasn't even paying attention to it. This morning it was stuck with no service, no data, nothing. I tried turning it off and then back on, putting airplane mode on and then off. No luck. I then did a factory reset. Now it just says "please wait, this may take a few minutes." It does not change. I waited as long as the batter would stay charged. Still nothing.
I also tried re activating it on the verizon wireless website. No luck.
Well the problem is I have the pre-installed SD card and for some reason, it is now saying that "the SD card is unmounted or removed" but its not. When I go into settings I have the option to Unmount it, so why is it saying that. If I restart the phone, the SD card works for about 2 minutes then tells me that its Unmounted again, which it is not. when I try to take a picture the phone tells me this AGAIN!
I cannot save any files, access music, pictures, or video. I can access the files when it is plugged into the computer, but when i try to add something to the SD card from the computer, it doesn't go on the phone. Is my Card corrupt? Do I format it? Help?
If this helps, this didn't happened until i upgraded my Droid to Froyo.
I cant seem to be able to add more then a gig or two of music before it all gets deleted into the LOST.DIR folder on my sd card when I try to add new music.Any idea?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have purchased a 23gb sdhc micro sd card. On my computer and phone the total memory is recognized. When connected to the computer I can transfer my selected music across to the phone (htc legend). No issues and no errors.
Everytime I dismount the phone and then check these files the phone only see 4-5gb of the music (9gb orignally added). If I then try and reconnect to my computer only the 4-5gb is present the rest has been erased! This is happened with 2 micro sd cards. Really confused - can anyone help?
I bought a used working EVO. I activated it and I noticed that when I turn it on, The data connection does not start. When I go into Settings/Wireless & networks, the Monile Network says Connection failed. If I turn it off and back on, it connects fine. Is there a setting that I am missing that is causing this problem? I rooted it before activating so I don't know if I should take it back to stock. But I would prefer not to.

A few months ago it started randomly resetting itself. 2 months ago it started resetting itself then going into a reset loop for a few minutes until it stayed on. A little while ago it just started shutting off and not turning back on for a couple of hours.
I searched on Google and there was a suggestion to update the software. I read the instructions and noted it said to do a backup. I went to m.sonyericcson.com/backup on the phone, downloaded the latest backup software, and created a backup. Took quite awhile but said it was successful. I then connected to the computer and did the software update. Turned the phone on and tried to do my restore thinking everything worked great. Unfortunately when I load the backup file it says
File Error: Cannot read selected backup file
Did I just totally ***** myself and lose all of my data? Any ideas on how to make this backup file work? I will go back to 1.6 if it means I can actually use my phone, at this point it is useless without any of my contacts, programs or text conversations
