I noticed that my data connection is always (3g is always visible). i know how to turn it off through settings, but when i try to use any apps that require internet connection, i would have to go through the settings and turn it on manually. is it possible to make this experience easy? i would like something that can easily and quickly turn the connection off and automatically turn it on when it needs to be on?

What's the technical term for being able to have voice connection and data connection simultaneously? Like AT&T was promoting heavily for a while.Apparently, the new T-Mobile Vibrant has this capability. A friend got one and was accessing the web while talking to me, double jealous now.I have benn lusting after the Verizon version, Fascinate, and wondering if there is any chance it will as well.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen i ran my old application in 1.6 i noticed that the progress bar was not showing up on the screen.When i analyzed it further i found the issue.The progress bar is getting activated but its not visible since my background color is also white.When i changed the background color i was able to see the progress bar.Is there no other way to make the progress bar visible other than changing the background color..Shouldn't the progress bar be visible under all background colors??

I recently upgraded my Android app to support multiple resolutions. Previously, my Android.manifest file had a line:

I then added a couple of new directories, like drawable-hdpi-v4 and drawable-long-hdpi-v4 that includes the high-res versions of the graphics. That's about it.
Ever since releasing this update, there have been a decent number of users complaining about various problems:
the app icon doesn't appear (I did not create a high res version of the icon)
the home screen widget no longer works, even if they delete and re-add it (this code did not change with the update). I've had a user send me their error log, which shows:

There is one questionable section in my existing widget code that may be relevant:

And perhaps most troublesome: the sqlite database is no longer accessible/writeable for some users so their data is no longer available. I did add the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission to the manifest. This is only happening to certain users and it tends to be HTC Eris users. In that error log I see things such as:

It's as if the update has caused a new process and it can't access the old process's data, or something.
Any reason why i would no longer have network/data connection? The 3g icon is missing. my mobile network is in fact enabled and it was working fine about an hour ago. any ideas on how to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI went to install a theme on CM6 final and now my EVO will not bring up a 3G connection anymore even after flashing a stock rom. It will not connect to data or even show the 3g symbol.
I can still make calls though.
Does anyone know what setting might have changed or anything I can do to get my data back?
When I'm in a call over a month ago, I was able to check on the traffic in the maps app..but now when i try to do that, i get the message "connection data lost" and therefore am not able to check the traffic until I am done with my call. I search and didn't come up with any in call answers.

The "3G" will dim itself after a period of inactivity even with having three or more bars of signal strength. For most applications this is not a issue but it reeks havoc on Google Talk (have "automatically sign in enabled) and sometimes the Android Market.My phone has been doing this for a while. I just updated to Fresh 3.2 and installed the latest radios. Still having the same problem. What can I do to fix this? Has anyone else had this problem before.

A bit like the battery stats that says which application has been using the battery but for data connection if you see what I mean.
I've seen a few apps that seem to give an overall usage figure so you can track how much data you're downloading in a month but nothing per app.I originally posted this in the HTC Desire section but I think this section is more appropriate, not sure how to move a post so have done it again. All the sudden today i just lost my 3g data connection. I actually saw the airplane symbol for a min or two as well. I toon it to sprint and they couldnt get the data connection back thy tried some kind of "activation" which didnt work then they wanted to have the phone for a day which j cjldnt do today. Now i disabled the 3g on the phone and turned it back off and on again and it said it was runnjng the activation again but this time t ran through and i turned 3g back on and the arrows show up but they never flash but i am on the pjone now posting this.

Even when wifi is turned off, the mobile network gives this message "Use phone for data connection when wifi is unavailable".
My wifi is turned off and the 3G connection is also strong. With this issue, I cannot access the internet as the browser or the app says that there are connection issues
Evo has locked up on data connection.One minute data is working great and then, No internet, app store, etc. and anything I try to do brings up a dialogue box that says retry or cancel, and that I need internet network access. Phone still works, but does occasionally seem to not hang up on first try.
When I go to settings - wireless & networks, it shows a box "trying to connect" but nothing happens. 4g, bluetooth and wifi are turned off. I have to completely restart phone and the data is back. This has happened about 5 times. Phone issue or Sprint issue. I am in Atlanta, and can get 4g coverage around my house and area. 3 g goes from great to low in same spots.
I bought a used working EVO. I activated it and I noticed that when I turn it on, The data connection does not start. When I go into Settings/Wireless & networks, the Monile Network says Connection failed. If I turn it off and back on, it connects fine. Is there a setting that I am missing that is causing this problem? I rooted it before activating so I don't know if I should take it back to stock. But I would prefer not to.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Droid Incredible. Working fine, suddenly this am, after a phone reset, the data no longer worked. Phone and texting are fine. Under settings > wireless and networks > Mobile network it is dark grey, and says "Turning on"..... over and over.
Spent 45 minutes with tech support. Nothing. Did 2 factory resets, checked the network settings in the phone, checked the settings on their end, nothing worked.
So, they say, we will need to replace your phone. Then, we have no Incredibles in stock. So, they call my local store, who also has none in stock of course. So they say they may be getting some in tonight or tomorrow, supposedly they are going to call me tomorrow and give me an update. I wonder if anyone else has had data issues requiring phone replacement? I guess since I talked to VZW there's nothing else that I could check on the phone.
Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to transfer data between 2 applications( one running on Android Phone and another application running on PC) via USB connection? If yes then please tell me the what are the settings to be done.

Firstly what are the correct complete set of setting for virgin internet and MMS on Desire?
Secondly will these settings help solve the intermittent data issue, if not what will?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted my Moto Droid a few months back. Running 2.1 and all seemed well. I decided to trade it on Craigs List a couple of weeks ago. Before the exchange I did a factory reset. The guy I traded it to seemed honest and certainly didn't know much about hacking on the phone. Anyhow he told me he couldn't get a data connection (wifi did work though). He took it to a Verizon store and naturally they said it had been hacked and that was the problem.I traded him back (Palm Pre sucked anyway). I figured I could just get it back up and running. But I'm definitely only getting wifi connection. Market will NOT log me in no matter what.Any suggestions? Is the phone now dead?

Just got my Milestone today (having moved over from Windows Mobile and Blackberry). I have signed up to T-Mobile. Got the phone, charged it, inserted SIM and can make calls just fine. However, I can only get a data connection via wifi and not through T-Mobile.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI just bought my i7500 in the excitement that it has all the features that I need (except upgrade to 2.0 OS) but it seems that GPS chip doesn't work properly. From what I understand, GPS chip enables the phone to communicate with the GPS satellites and determine the location, without the need for data plan (EDGE, HSPA, or WiFi). However, on my galaxy, I have two apps (GPS Status, GPSTest) for GPS which suppose to show my location (long, lat) but I get nothing with these apps. How come? I have enabled the 'Enable GPS Satellites' and 'Use wireless networks' (even though this shouldn't be required) in Security and Location setting and still nothing. I see the little GPS icon the status bar at the top blinking but I believe it's suppose to stay there when it actually locates itself, which its clearly not doing. I have tried in various locations where the GPS signals are pretty good so I don't think reception is a problem. I have the i7500XXII4 baseband version.

For example, if I am using last.FM and I turn on my wi-fi, I get an error that the app can no longer connect to the last.FM servers. If I turn off wi-fi, it starts working immediately. View 22 Replies View RelatedI saw this commercial the other day for the iPhone where they were saying how the iPhone can look up stuff on a map and lookup restuarant info on the web all while on a phone call. I thought, that's silly, can't every smart phone do that? I had never tried it before on my Hero, so tonight I just did a simple test, where I was on the phone and tried to look up some info on the web. No go. There was no data connection. Boy was I not happy about that. Is that a function of the OS (v1.5), or the network I'm on (Sprint)? It seems like its pretty basic that I should be able to be on a phone call AND look something up at the same time, just like the iPhone commercial. Or am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting somewhere?
