Nov 4, 2010Does anyone know why in wireless & network settings it says connection failed under mobile networks?It'l connect to 3g for a bit but then come up with connection failed?

HTC Desire HD :: Mobile Network Widget - Switching Off/on Mobile Network Setting From Home Screen
Oct 29, 2010I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?

Jun 10, 2010I am developing an Android application and I would like to setup a tcp/ip type of connection between two Android phones using the 3G/Edge network. My test version will establish a connection if I have both phones on a lan using wifi but when I use T-Mobile's network a connection is not established. Could this issue be a port or ip address?

Dec 14, 2009I got my HTC Hero the other day and am very very happy with it. The only problem is that I cannot connect to the internet through "Mobile Network". I am on a "3" contract and I am able to access "my 3" which is where I can look at my account, look at my last bill, check my usage, etc. I can also connect to 3 - Home - that loads fine. But any other website (google, bbc, facebook, etc.) will not load - it just times out after a while.
It seams obvious to me that this is an issue with my account on 3. I don't know how many hours I've been on the phone to these guys. I have gone through all the settings with them, more than twice - replaced my SIM card and tried my SIM in another phone. So Three are now looking into it and have passed my issue onto the network's team, now they said that it may take up to 21 days for someone to get back to me!
HTC Droid Eris :: Connection To Mobile Network Failing
Mar 1, 2010Im wondering if this is an issue with my phone or an issue with the network in my area. Basically, i try to turn on my mobile network and it freezes at "turning on" i hit the back arrow, head back in and it says that the connection failed or "standby for connecting to the mobile network.The only thing different i have done today is install spare parts, and read a few issues people had with sense turning off, and wondered if maybe something within it is bugging my phone, just a thought though.

May 31, 2013I have a T-Mobile Galaxy Vibrant that was running Android 2.1. I rooted the phone (successfully), and installed Slim Bean 4.2.2 plus Google apps. Everything was going smoothly and I was reinstalling apps and data when I noticed that I had no network phone connection. Slim Beam did not seem to recognize the sim, and I came up empty searching for networks. I removed the sim and put it in another phone, and everything was fine.
I decided to restore the previous android 2.1 (which I had backed up) using ClockWorkMod Recovery. I did restore, then reboot. Now the only thing I get is the initial screen ... Vibrant and Samsung in bold white letters. I have tried repeatedly to launch CWM Recovery, without success.

I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.

I got a big problem cause every time i turn my phone into standby i loss my connection to internet and also i loss my mobile signal. after unlock my screen i have 2 enter my pin , i can only phone emergency. when i enter my pin, the phone reconnect and i got signal. i tried nearly every update, i flashed stock ROM and re-flashed cm10, nothing better.

Sep 20, 2010Im not sure if its the orange network that might be at fault or the phone? It was happening when I was running it on Orange branding quite a lot, it seems to be doing it less now with the standard ROM but still is.
Whats happening;
On occasion when I send a text (with seemingly strong reception) it instantly says its failed. I know when I manually send it again people tell me that they received it more than once. That to me makes it look like the phone is sending the message but saying it failed.
HTC Desire :: Internet Connection Failed To Load Data With 2.2
Sep 10, 2010I would like advice from those with 2.2 on Orange. I've had my Desire for 2 months now and love it-apart from one thing-the damned Internet connection. Quite often, with a strong 3G+ (HSDPA) signal, my internet connection fails to load data. Then, a few minutes later, in the same location, it works perfectly. I know for a fact that this is not a network only problem. The reason I know this is because I previously used the exact same SIM in my iphone for 6 months in the very same locations and it always worked perfectly.
Therefore, my strong suspicion is that the problem is a result of the combination of the Orange branding on a Desire and the network itself. I'm sure I read of a couple of posters here who had the very same problems and when they moved to 2.2 the problem disappeared. Can anyone confirm? I've been waiting patiently for the Orange update to 2.2 but am getting fed up and I'm concerned that the Orange bloatware may still cause an issue after this. Hence, I'm considering a debrand and update myself.
HTC Desire :: Network Connection Problems
Nov 15, 2010Recently I've started facing a problem on my Desire. Sometimes it acts like the network is down, and the signal bar shows a cross. At that time when I tried another sim card, the network was working fine. Then after a while my phone starts showing network with the original sim. But it won't connect to the internet. It simply won't connect, although I am toggling the mobile data connection tick mark.
Right now the network has gone again, and I'm trying to get connected to it through either Automatic registration or manually selecting from the list of network providers. But I get the message "unable to connect to this network at this time"...

Must say I'm loving android, for the sheer ability to customise it, altough not brave enough to root yet!
Installed folder organiser and launcher pro plus cos I want to change icons and names of folders etc.
My problem is when I switch from sense to laucher pro, i lose my data connection widget/ shortcut and cant get it back. On my sense screen I have the power control widget, which gives me the wifi connection toggle and also a mobile web toggle. I want a mobile web toggle that works with launcher pro.
Downloaded the widgets pack from curvefish, but the APN on/off does nothing at all.

Is there any other way I can share my network connection from my laptop? I know I can use the 3G to my laptop but basically I want to reverse that.

Jul 6, 2010As part of my battery saving techniques i often use a widget which turns off the APN. This has direct effect on disabling 3g as it no longer flashes in the task bar, but can someone explain the difference between turning off the APN or turning off the whole 'mobile network' (holding the power button and selecting mobile network off)Also, do both ways save the same battery?

May 13, 2010I' ve been using a lot my Desire these days and absolutely love it.I surf the Internet a lot and just wanted to make sure if I get it all right:
1. If I only use the Mobile Network Internet on my phone that means I am using the Internet my provider (Orange in this case) gives me per month. I have 1GB limited Interned each month and therefore surfing the web through the Mobile Network option means I am draining from that 1GB limit.
2. If I only use the Wi-Fi Internet (when Mobile Network is OFF) on the phone that means I connect to (in this case) my home Internet router and use it to access Internet and therefore do not drain any of the 1GB limit I have per month.
Is that right? I use Internet a lot and don't want to end up paying huge bills to Orange.And last question- what happens if both options (Mobile Network and Wi-Fi) are turned ON? What Internet will I be using- Orange's or the one from my home Internet router?

Jun 14, 2010I seem to have lost the ability to connect to the mobile network so can't connect to Market or web without wifi switched on. I have error message as follws: "Connection failed due to incorrect APN setting" I haven't touched any of these settings so a bit in the dark as to what the problem could be.

Jul 31, 2010Basically I was at work today, the reception was okay and I wanted to go on the net. When I tried to turn mobile network on (I normally keep it off to save battery), it just said "connecting" in the dark silver colour and that was it. It didn't turn on at all, until I turned the phone off completely and then the mobile network was on when the phone was re-started. It happened to me twice that day.

Sep 23, 2010having loads trouble trying to connect, on o2 network (but phone was intially vodaphone) when i purchased it got APN settings and all sweet , then htc sent update to my phone and since then no joy , went back to repair centre , recived it back yesterday and it's still the same argghhh.Htc say it's because it has been on vodaphone and this is causing the problem (even though it worked fine before they upgraded software!).

I can select a video to view and it looks like it's loading but after serveral minutes the error message 'Sorry no network connection right now, please try again later' or 'Sorry, this video cannot be played. this video is not available'
My internet seems to be working although it seems very slow (thought it should be alot faster). Is there something I need to set up to be able to view the videos? I've tried using the youtube widget and also using Dolphin HD but with no luck.

Aug 18, 2010Ive tried turning the phone off and also removing the battery but still no luck. It still says ''turning on'' when i go into settings.I dont no if theres something wrong with the phone as i don't think its the network because i can still make calls and the bars are stuck on two.I'm on orange and they normally have good reception/network.

Apr 15, 2010Excuse me if this is due to my poor understanding of mobile internet.When in my office at work the signal bars on my phone will be either 2 or 3 out of 4. The 3G icon is also present.When, For example, I try to go onto the Market the connection seems very poor. The 3G icon will get the arrows showing that 3G data is being transferred and sometimes it will drop down to a H icon.I then get the message "A network error has occurred, retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen".This happens with all other apps, internet etc as well.I bought the phone with a orange PAYG from Carphone warehouse and put my Orange Monthly pay sim in.When I am outside or even in a different area of the office the internet works fine.If my phone was showing 1 bar and no 3G icon I would accept that it is just too bad signal in the office but as I have nearly full signal and the 3G icon is there another problem?

I'll it admit that I'm a little puzzled after staring at the APN settings for a while and adding the ips etc still not getting any luck. 2degrees (my provider) have attempted ota delivery but no luck. HTC Desire :: Mobile Network Started To Malfunction
Jul 17, 2010My Mobile Network started to malfunction the other day. It worked perfectly until that point. With WiFi, everything works as it should, however on 3G, only IMs, maps and the market work. Dolphin shows every page as 404, and Facebook can't connect.

Sep 11, 2010Is anyone else not getting a mobile internet connection right now? This has happened before on Orange but it's different this time because my phone doesn't seem to be searching for a network to join (before in the settings it would say "searching" or something and be greyed out but not this time)
Hopefully it's just a network problem, rather than my phone
I've managed to fix it i think. It would seem something I installed (im thinking SwitchPro Widget) changed the APN name in the settings to orangeinternet_off.
