What are the chances that we will be able to use Wireless tether for Root after the brilliant minds at XDA root this phone?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just want to know if I use the rooted final version of the OTA 2.2 blah.blah.6 does this kill wifi tether for root? This will help me decide if I want to do a rooted update, or flash back to stock and do the Sprint OTA. and wait for the rooting process to star anew.

It looks like there's an incompatibility between OSX and Android Wifi Tether.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWith much headache I've gotten PdaNet to work with DroidX via Bluetooth, despite some part of the Bluetooth driver not installing correctly/missing driver component.I've got the thing to what seemed to be the connected state on my dad's laptop, because he wants to browse at work, anyway.. I think the Bluetooth connection is working, but Verizon seems to be able to tell that its a tether because it pops up that Verizon page asking me to get a payed subscription for the tethering service (the site that shows the pretty chart where they say they want $30 more) no matter what site URL I type in.Any ideas why this happens? suggestions? Is there another solution that people have confirmed working for DroidX or am I doing something wrong? Also, I read that to use the USB connection to PdaNet I had to install the PdaNet Desktop app, which I tried to but kept failing install using the Motorola and Generic driver options, but I think despite this, PdaNet seems to not work right because of that page keeps popping up asking me to purchase the HotSpot plan addon. What do you all think? Thanks for help beforehand.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am able to detect and connect to my phone with my computer. The problem is I cant get on the internet with it. It acts like its crunching away when I open the browser and then I get a "limited connectivity" pop up on the computer. The phone only shows like 3kb downloaded and 30k uploaded. Any ideas or is my connection just that slow? I am using bugles 0.8.6. on the droid.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have rooted my hero and am currently running fresh 1.1 ROM, and I got the wireless tether for root users and its been working great until last night. I was having extremely slow speeds and was going to try disconnecting and reconnecting but as soon as I disconnected, my phone rebooted. Now, every time I go into the wireless tether for root users app, it force closes. What the Hell am I supposed to do? I need this to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLet me preface I love this app and am not really complaining, just have something that has come up. Anyone else experience it dropping the internet connection or wifi after about an hour? It works great up to that point and doesn't show an error or anything but it just stops communicating. I have to stop tethering and start tethering and its back up again. Its not a huge issue, just something that I would resolve if I could. It was happening on pre9 but I upgraded to pre13 and it still happens. Im on Myns RLS3 with Netarchy 4191bfs kernel but it was doing it on the stock HTC #10 kernel that came with Myns.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThe best WiFi/BT tether/hotspot app out there has just added support for the EVO 4G about half an hour ago. Of course, root is required but it's just one click away with unrevoked. Forget Sprint's $30 a month tether - this one is free and supported by the community. This is why I love Android. I have not looked at Chrome OS yet so I am looking for some feedback on how to tether with it.
Using a non-rooted Droid, is it possible to tether with Chrome OS?
I know there are ways to tether your non-rooted Droid with Linux/Windows/Mac, but the software required will not run under Chrome OS (for example, one of the Linux solutions requires you have the SDK installed).
so how do i get this app to work. I just rooted with the sholes mod updater rom. I plugged my phone into the computer with the USB cord and selected mount and ran the app and hit the big green wifi icon to connect. What else do i need to do? or if anyone has got links to how to get this app to work that would be great too. Oh and also when i connect the USB cord, on the notification bar and triangle with an (!) mark shows up and talks about some debugging stuff. What is that? does that have something to do with the wifi?Rep for who ever helps me get this thing to work.
I just installed the leaked OTA, rooted my phone, and installed wireless tether, but now my phone will no longer switch out of 3g and into Wifi mode?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI rooted my eris the other day with the all in one 0_3. I have a few questions about everything.
1. How do I know If there is an update for the specific root I used? and to update will I lose everything?
2. I can't seem to get usb tether to work. pdanet works but I want all access. the wired-tether-root program. It runs on my Eris, but doesn't access the net. xp x86 and 7 x64. I have two root required wireless applications installed that work perfectly, I just want a usb app too.
3. If the rooted ROM I used isn't the best, can I get some opinions as to what to try?r making this possible for us all!
I've been trying to use Wireless Tether with my laptop and have noticed that it is extremely finicky. It usually works for a minute or two but then I can't load anything at all on my laptop. I'm not doing any heavy activity or anything, just browsing some websites, but it does this consistently. I have to toggle it off and on and reconnect my laptop before I can use the internet again. No error messages or anything, it just gets stuck at 0.0 kbps on my phone as if my computer isn't communicating with it anymore.
Does anyone have this problem or is this just a common limitation with ad hoc networks? Is there another solution out there? I'm using the leaked Froyo rom but noticed this with the official 2.1 rom too. Doesn't 2.2 come with built-in hotspot capabilities? I wouldn't mind using wired tethering either, but it looks like that won't happen until we can get a custom kernel?
those two power/settings widgets has a wifi hotspot button but it seems to access sprint's hotspot. just wondering if it's possible to have them access wireless tether (root).

View 22 Replies View RelatedI've got a Sprint Hero with Android 2.1 (.6 and not .5 as required for unrevoked). All I want is root access (no custom roms) for some applications (mainly WiFi tether). I'm a complete noob to rooting and what I gathered from the guides is that all data is erased. Is there any way (regardless of how complicated) such taht I don't lose any data/apps and just gain root access?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a droid X I just got not very long ago at all and a friend told me how to use the rooted version to play xbox live and things like MW2 online using the tether...so I think I rooted my phone it says it is.
I used androot and it seems to have rooted my phone however it does not ask me permission(yet i literally just downloaded it) now my question is this:
I have downloaded wireless tether for root users version 2.0.1(I am running 2.1 update1) I am not sure if that was the correct version...but I am online so I assume so.
How do I open the NAT settings on the wifi however? that is the whole point of me doing this charade and I cannot figure it out. I try to play MW2 online and it says they are strict.
wireless tether and barnacle wifi tether doesnt work after 2.2 leak.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having issues getting the 2 wifi tethering programs to work correctly. I just rooted for the firstt time today. Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I am using a Droid X with the official 2.2 update rooted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen connecting my Evo to a computer, there is an "Internet Sharing" option. I am curious to know, does this cost extra monthly? I know the wifi tether is the extra $30 a month, but will this charge me the same?
I only have interest in rooting my phone if it's the only way to share internet with my Netbook. Wifi isn't all that important to me, and seeing as I've completely and utterly failed at doing the Unrevoked method for rooting... I'm hoping I won't actually have to root my phone after all.
Looking for reasons to purchase the full version. Just drove from SE VA to DC, and had the tether all the way up I95, without any problems.
Any reasons anyone can give me for purchasing the full $10 version?
Here is the scenario:
Motorola Droid - Original
1. Rooted 2.1, then
2. OTA Stock Update to 2.2, then
3. Seem to have lost root, However - I still have the Superuser Permissions Icon.
I use Barnacle for WiFi Tether - I get a "Permission Denied" error when I try to start the application. I also went into the terminal emulator and tried an "su" which also gave a permission denied response. I tried "sudo" and also got permission denied response. Others have told me this is common with this progression of events. However, How do I now ROOT 2.2 in this scenario?
I just rooted my stock froyo with it! If this has already been discussed.
