View 4 Replies View RelatedI just want to know if I use the rooted final version of the OTA 2.2 blah.blah.6 does this kill wifi tether for root? This will help me decide if I want to do a rooted update, or flash back to stock and do the Sprint OTA. and wait for the rooting process to star anew.
View 49 Replies View RelatedThe best WiFi/BT tether/hotspot app out there has just added support for the EVO 4G about half an hour ago. Of course, root is required but it's just one click away with unrevoked. Forget Sprint's $30 a month tether - this one is free and supported by the community. This is why I love Android. All info here:

I just installed the leaked OTA, rooted my phone, and installed wireless tether, but now my phone will no longer switch out of 3g and into Wifi mode?

View 22 Replies View RelatedI've got a Sprint Hero with Android 2.1 (.6 and not .5 as required for unrevoked). All I want is root access (no custom roms) for some applications (mainly WiFi tether). I'm a complete noob to rooting and what I gathered from the guides is that all data is erased. Is there any way (regardless of how complicated) such taht I don't lose any data/apps and just gain root access?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a droid X I just got not very long ago at all and a friend told me how to use the rooted version to play xbox live and things like MW2 online using the tether...so I think I rooted my phone it says it is.
I used androot and it seems to have rooted my phone however it does not ask me permission(yet i literally just downloaded it) now my question is this:
I have downloaded wireless tether for root users version 2.0.1(I am running 2.1 update1) I am not sure if that was the correct version...but I am online so I assume so.
How do I open the NAT settings on the wifi however? that is the whole point of me doing this charade and I cannot figure it out. I try to play MW2 online and it says they are strict.
I'm using Easy Tether right now to post this, yet it will not connect to Facebook, or Gmail and Google Voice, PicasaWeb, or other Google products, aside from Gqueues. If I connect this laptop through any wireless connection (my home network or multiple public wifi hotspots) it has no problems seeing those sites.Ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having issues getting the 2 wifi tethering programs to work correctly. I just rooted for the firstt time today. Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I am using a Droid X with the official 2.2 update rooted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my epic last week and had it rooted within hours. I have to say, I do love this phone. But I have noticed a slight inconvenience. I have installed the wireless tether app, and it works like a charm. No problem connecting other gadgets to it. But once I'm done tethering, and switch back to using wifi, the phone doesn't seem to want to connect to my home's wifi. I've tried reseting the phone, manually killing the tether app, and force closing the app under the applications tab in settings. But still no connection. Eventually, after 30mins or so, th phone will be able to connect once again. Has anyone else had this issue? It just seems somewhat of an unexpected problem, and a minor inconvenience. Any information on this or a possible fix would be greatly appreciated.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI really want a free wifi tether, from what I have read barnacle is very good, and keeps AT&T from seeing that I'm tethering. Here is my journey thus far:
1. search barnacle on app market: no results
2. download double twist, search for barnacle, find it, scan the barcode. It recognizes it as barnacle. Sweet. I press the button to continue to app market, market opens, says "can't download that" or "error" or something.
3. Find the barnacle apk. online, download it to my computer, connect my captivate to my computer, throw the apk. file onto the captivate. Sweet! Now I have the apk. file on my phone at long last................
A friend of mine just got the Vibrant and she's having a problem running WiFi tether, she's unable to get higher than 15kb. Has anyone else run into this problem and know how to fix it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust when I think I want to root my phone or put a rom on it I read someone has problems. Is this due to their phones or a editing error? The OTA I think is a mean trick all of you are playing on me.lol Everyone is in on the joke but me.lol all kiding aside Not sure if I will wait for the update or go with the root.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI keep losing root access for some reason. Foe example I can load any rom but after about an hour I cant use apps that require root. Like cache mate or titanium backup. The apps tell me I dint have the required credentials. So I go to better terminal and type "su" and wait for the "#" so that I know I have root but it gives me an error. So the only way to get root back is to reboot phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFinally, a root solution for 1.6!
This kernel is intended for use with the OTA 1.6 update ROM andmicrohaxo's Behold II OTA 1.6 Tweaked ROM. If the phone fails to boot try flashing the "unroot" file at the end of the post or reflash your previous ROM.
2shared - download Root-BH2-1.6.zip
Unzip and flash with Odin. Install Superuser.apk by running on the phone off the SD card or pushing to /system/app with ADB after flashing for system install.
No App2SD in this one.
Includes:
/system is now rw by default ADB is root by default 'su' and 'busybox' version 1.16.1 (located at /sbin)
Superuser Whitelist 2.2.2 (by ChainsDD) installed separately
If there is a lot of interest in getting App2SD in this I may revisit it. For now my Android time will be shifting to BH2 ROM development.
If you ever want to "unroot" flash this file: 2shared - download OTAkernel16.tar.md5..and uninstall Superuser Whitelist.
Excuse my lack of knowledge, but... why is it that we are unable to root the B2 to 2.1+ ourselves? We did it with 1.6 way before Samsung announced anything. I thought Google publicly release the source codes to each Android OS. Can't we take the source and modify it to be usable on the B2? Coudn't we possibly take 2.1+ from another (possibly Samsung) phone and transfer the data over? We know Samsung's claim that the B2 could not handle 2.1+ is pure BS.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen connecting my Evo to a computer, there is an "Internet Sharing" option. I am curious to know, does this cost extra monthly? I know the wifi tether is the extra $30 a month, but will this charge me the same?
I only have interest in rooting my phone if it's the only way to share internet with my Netbook. Wifi isn't all that important to me, and seeing as I've completely and utterly failed at doing the Unrevoked method for rooting... I'm hoping I won't actually have to root my phone after all.
Ever since rooting my phone for the first time (and I have followed BH_MAN instructions to the last T) I have noticed one thing: I have root confirmed and it works great, but If i plug my phone to the laptop and use the SDCARD (transfer photos or music or etc...) after I unplugg (ejecting it properly first) and everything returns to normal in the phone, except that I loose root access. Better Terminal Says:
here1here2here3here4$
And until I reboot my phone root doesn't work again.
So I had previously rooted my BH2. I used both the Galaxy and the newer BH2 Stock from BH MAN. Since I was having that annoying random reboot problem, I decided to use my 14 day period and just get a new one. So far so good.
But now I'm sitting here with it out of the box. I really miss having it rooted... mainly the speed of the phone. But I'm wondering if I should just wait until this little update comes out before spending the time to root and then odin and then root yet again. Anyone have any thoughts?
I see a few different tutorials on how to root your behold 2. what did you use? and a link if you can post it....i am still having trouble getting my PC to reconize my sd card. i have tried 3...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently converted to BH_MAN stock BH2 image + root. I'm having the following situation:After the install and performing the Master reset everything is working fine, I proceeded to download some applications and everything was operational. I rebooted my phone (for some reason I do not recall right now, happened 2 days ago) and when it came up, I had several applications corrupted: There was an icon in the same place that the original was with the same name but different icon, and if I clicked it would advise that the application was not installed. I would go to my downloads and the application management sections and see the application and it wouldn't work till I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it.Now, last night I also uninstalled the T-Mobile "My Account" software and let my battery drain out completely to have it sync correctly (that was another problem I was having, batt would say I was at 20% and I had 4 bars in the screen, fixed now) and once I let it charge completely I powered it on and some applications were uninstalled again, but the T-Mobile Account software was there again! Can anyone explain if this is a permanent problem or is there something to be done?
