I have had the Eris almost since it came out. I am updated with the latest OTA OS. In the last couple of days my phone just decides to reboot on its own. It reboots when the screen is off and I go to use the phone. I hit the key to bring the screen up and it just reboots. I am not rooted or OC'd.

Tonight I showed my wife, who has a Droid Eris like me, that the icon in her notification panel was telling her there were updates available for some of her apps. Turns out she hasn't updated any of them so she updated them all at once. Her phone starts lagging quite a bit and reboots itself spontaneously... just goes to a black screen and then restarts and boots back up. Once I realized what was happening I canceled the updates that hadn't yet downloaded and started Taskiller to get rid of all the programs running. Now her phone won't stop rebooting every 5 minutes or so. I did a hard reset by taking the battery out for a minute... does anyone have any suggestions? Her phone's been fine until tonight.

She got the deal from Wireless Amazon Beta, where she only paid 39.99.I wasn't able to, wasn't eligible for upgrade and got mine at the store.Anyhow, her phone a couple days in would freeze, the screen would go black, and then it reboots.Now it happens a couple times a day at least.Obviously seems like it's defective, but I'm wondering if anybody else is dealing with the same problem?If so, have you taken into Verizon. what have they told you or done for you?Wondering if she should send this back to Amazon Wireless, or head into a Verizon.And I'm wondering what kind of return/exchange/refurbishing headache were in for.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on call this weekend - was talking to a patient when all of a sudden the call cuts off. (no land line, so i have to use my eris on call) -- I push the trackball to light up the screen and nothing happens. Then a few seconds later the bootup screen starts (where it says 'HTC - quietly brilliant). The phone was fully charged...anybody ever have this happen to them? I rely on this phone to reach patients and other doctors...am not happy about this.

I had no problems like this with 1.5, the update to 2.1, it started after the latest OTA update. The OTA installed without any problems.
Anybody with a similar problem or a solution?
This is weird and took me a while to pinpoint exactly when this happens. When I am done using my phone I usually hit the home button to get to my home screen, regardless of what app or what screen I'm on. Then I press the power button at the top top turn off the screen. Almost everyday with what I thought was no clear pattern, my phone would reboot just after setting it down when I was done using it. I found that when pressing power too quickly after pressing home when the app hasn't fully gone away yet causes the phone to reboot. I have been able to consistently do this today from the gallery, not just at a specific picture but when viewing the list of my phone pictures. Over half a dozen times just now, every time, home then power and it reboots. I uninstalled OpenHome thinking it was related to the custom home app, but even with the default home it is still happening.Gallery is not the main problem, it has happened from other apps, but that one I have been able to most consistenly reproduce it because it takes longer for that to close before getting to the home screen (I only have 52 pictures, so I can't imagine that is the reason). I am about to go to a verizon store and see if I can reproduce it on the phones on display.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI backed up my apps in anticipation of a factory reset and nothing since then. so since i switched back to sense yesterday, i have noticed that when off the homescreen for too long, like while browsing the internet, when i return to the homescreen, sense reboots itself. black HTC screen comes up and sense gets a reboot. i figure maybe this is because the OS is used to switching sense to the background because i was running helix for so long.
View 33 Replies View Relatedwhen i plug in the usb charger or connect it to my car dock. When i plug it in, the phone reboots and goes to the droid logo/droid eye screen and hangs there. I have to pull the battery to turn it off and back on again. Once it reboots it doesn't seem to have a problem connecting, but after that and a f ew hours of usage it happens again when i plug it back in. I installed a lot of apps using appbrain recently and i feel like it started doing that after i installed them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy screen turns black when i wake up my phone. frequent reboots, that it does on it's on, not to mention the lines showing up across my screen. this phone has never been dropped and has a screen protector and case on it. looks like i'll be calling verizon for a replacement - totally unacceptable, but understandable considering it's a new phone.. and it seems these days things are being rushed out the door.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a new battery for my Droid, and the battery came 60% charged. So I did the battery drain until it powered off. I then put it on the dock to do a full charge, and now the phone is in a constant boot loop. It reboots up to the home screen and mounts the SD card. It stays on for about 5 seconds after mounting the card, and then reboots. I tried just plugging it into the charger w/o the dock, and still does the same thing. I have also tried pulling the battery, putting it back in and charge. Same. I have even tried doing a power down from the home screen within the 5-10 seconds the home screen stays on, but no luck. It turns off before it completes the shutdown and reboots again.

I have my eris running Evil Eris 2.0.1, and every few hours it reboots randomly. I won't even be using the phone, it will just reboot.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter using the unrevoked3 method to root, I downloaded rom manager and obtained the damage control rom to flash. When rom manager prompted to install, I just hit 'yes (or whatever the prompt was)' without checking backup (since I already have one) or clear the cache. Once it reboots and finishes installing, it just hangs at the 'htc EVO 4G' screen and seems to be in an infinite cycle (screen goes blank for a second then back onto the htc evo 4g screen).

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince few weeks my battery life get drained by my screen. My screen brightness is on his lowest and still draining like 20-30% battery life each hour. Sometimes my screen even drain in stand-by mode... Every other draining apps/things are off.
And then we have random reboots... My nexus 4 just reboot without any reason. Sometimes its reboot in stand-by mode and sometimes when I use my phone. But both without any reason to reboot...?
OK today charged battery then turned off bump charged it turned it back one. HTC splash screen, then little splash screen then verizon splash screen then its reboots. It did this even if I removed the battery. Called Tech support had to clear all my data UGH!!!! luckily i did export to sd card a while back only missing about 20 contacts out of a 100 but its fixed now. Anyone else have this happen. I have had no problems with this phone til now.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi tried to flash a rom without unlocking my bootloader. Well im running windows 8.1 and for some reason i couldnt get my computer to recognize the phone at all. After using 3 or 4 different guides i gave up for a few days so not to get too aggrivated. I mean its my own fault but my back up phone sucks lol. So i borrowed my wifes laptop running win 7. I Followed this guide androidforums.com/optimus-l9-all-things-root/807569-guide-security-error-fix.html. everything seemed to work got the s/w screen to appear in reverse and using the cmd prompt that says wiating for device then starting the .bat file from the download it says on the bat cmd prompt that everything worked. well at the bottom its says done then comes up with C:fast boot yours. i have been browsing Google but i haven't been able to find what i am supposed to do with the yours file. i tried putting a kdz file into the file location and running it from that but no luck. after a few min the phone auto reboots and comes back with the security error screen and not the backwards one.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis morning my alarm started unexpectedly at 6am. The lock screen turned into the snooze/stop screen. Dragging down didn't stop it it.. It came on every ten minutes for the next hour. My alarms were set to 9:45am and 8:30pm as usual. Even turning the phone off and on didn't stop the beeping. It was my 9:45am ringtone even. (The two are set differently)

This is driving me crazy. The phone is pretty much useless when this starts happening. I will be on the Main home screen and then it will start jumping Home screens as if I'm swiping to the left but I'm NOT swiping! Once it is on the last screen to the left it won't let me switch back to HOME. I can almost never do anything when this happens. I haven't dropped the phone. I've reset the G-Sensor. Has anyone experianced this? I've even done a Wipe of the device.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.

This gets really annoying when using apps that require such actions. Anyone else having this issue or know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe an app that's causing it.

Im trying to find an app or program that is just like the screen when the moto droid is plugged into the multimedia dock (you know, the screen with the time, date, music and weather). Ive already tried a program called DockRunner, but it FCs every time.

They don't seem to be related to any running service, unless it is a background service. 98% of the time the phone reboots, it is "asleep" in my pocket. I will hear the notification chime, pull the phone out, and see the droid eye. suxxor, booted again! This happens about twice a day now. Before the 2.1 OTA it was about once a day. When the phone was new, it was about once every other day. Phone was rooted, but not rom'ed before OTA. I have not re-rooted after OTA. I have not wiped (ever), but am about ready to try. Recently added Helix as my home, but had the re-boots before helix.
