HTC Droid Eris :: Not Detecting Wifi - Bluetooth

Feb 15, 2010

My Eris is not detecting my home wireless network. I've reconfigured the network to try to solve this problem -- my laptop is working great on the Belkin N, but numerous attempts at adding a new wi-fi network to Eris have been unsuccessful. And Bluetooth isn't much better. I did get Eris to pair and connect with my headset, and I actually got it to pair with my laptop, but with the laptop, it says "paired but no connected", even when the laptop's reading indicate that there is a connection. I've checked and rechecked configuration, ensured that both PC and Eris were able to be discovered, scanned and re-scanned, but Eris still won't detect my network. My computer, though, does detect Eris as a wireless device.

HTC Droid Eris :: Toggle Settings (WiFi / GPS And Bluetooth) One Bar Configuration

Feb 14, 2010

I want a widget to toggle settings like WiFi, GPS, bluetooth etc all in one bar configuration as opposed to separate widgets. I saw one screen shot in this forum of a very clean, minimalistic bar where green = on, red = off (or something like that) for each setting, but I can't remember which post had that screen shot. I've searched and searched. Anyone remember seeing this? Or what search term should I use in the market to find this sort of widget with multiple settings on it?

Android :: Detecting Ad Hoc WiFi Access Points

Feb 9, 2009

I am developing an application on the android platform. The app performs continues WiFi scan and sends information about the list of visible access points to server. However, I need to remove all the Ad Hoc points. The android.net.wifi.ScanResult api does not seem to have any information on "mode" of the network. Is there anyway I can distinguish a given point is Ad Hoc or Master?

HTC Hero :: Stopped Detecting Wifi Signals?

Jul 21, 2010

My 3 month old hero ( 3 UK - 1.6 ) has just stopped detecting ANY wi-fi signals. I haven't rooted. I have removed the battery and removed then reinstalled the we-fi application. I toggle on/ off / on the wi-fi and the phone indicates this as being on. My next idea is to factory reset the phone and if that does not work to send it back to 3.

HTC Droid Eris :: Wifi Won't Reconnect Automatically When In Range Or By Enabling Wifi

Sep 8, 2010

It's done this twice now (before and after factory reset). 2.1 OTA, not rooted.

Whenever I turn on the wifi, or I become in range of my WPA2 network, it doesn't always connect. I say "always" because it seems to be random. If I toggle wifi on or off, it doesn't always connect. Sometimes it connects after 30+ seconds. Every other device connects just fine.

The only sure way to get it to connect is to force it to rescan, usually by going to Settings and displaying all SSIDs in range. THEN it connects, always and immediately.

The even sillier thing is, it will alert me of open networks, but never connect to my own saved network.

Motorola Droid :: Bluetooth Wifi Interoperability

Jan 4, 2010

Driving home on a BT HF call tonight I kept hearing distortion every minute or so thinking that I might have a cell tower issue. This continued for 8 miles and even when I stopped the car in my drive way. I noticed that the problem seemed to disappear after disabling WIFI. My assumption is that with WIFI enabled it scans for a network every so often and interferes with the Bluetooth connection (yes, I know they share bandwidth). I tend to leave the WIFI enabled so it will automatically connect to my home network when I arrive. Does anyone else see an interoperability issue which is driving them to turn off WIFI to avoid BT distortion?

Motorola Droid X :: Bluetooth Kills WIFI Connection?

Jul 21, 2010

I'm not sure if this started after the update, but every time I use WIFI and Bluetooth, my WIFI connection dies less than a minute after using it. For example, I'll connect my Bluetooth headphones and then start up a streaming music service. In less than a minute, the music stops and my wifi connection is dead (even though it says it is still connected). Can't browse the web, do speed test, etc. Have to disconnect WIFI and reconnect. But it will do it again as soon as I start using the connection. If I turn off Bluetooth, my WIFI works just fine. If I use Bluetooth over 3G, it works fine. It's only when I use both WIFI and Bluetooth and when I start using the Internet.I'm thinking it's either a bug or an interference issue between the WIFI and Bluetooth radios? Sometimes the music will cut out a bit before the WIFI connection totally dies. But if I switch over to 3G, it works fine. I tried several apps too, not just the same music streaming service, so I know it's not the app. Here's the weird part: if I use my Bluetooth headphones while connected to WIFI, but only listen to music that's on my device, it doesn't do it. It's only when I start using the WIFI heavily that it does it.Anyone else experience this? As it stands, I cannot use WIFI and Bluetooth at the same time.

HTC Droid Eris :: Wifi Work On Deactivated Eris?

Apr 22, 2010

I recently activated my old Blackberry Curve because of my frustration with certain features on my Eris. I thought that I would still be able to browse the Internet on my Eris using wifi only but it's not really working. The reason I say "not really" is because I can do a Google search and look at Google News, etc, but I can't really go anywhere else. If I click on a link, or select one of my bookmarks, it just sits there and eventually times out. Does anyone understand why this won't work? When my Eris was activated, I could use wifi in areas where I had no cell coverage. I may reactivate my Eris soon.... I do miss the fun of it. Also the call quality is somewhat better than my Curve - although the Curve gets better reception in marginal signal areas. Love my Curve for push email and the real keyboard. When it's time for an upgrade, I am going to have a hard time deciding whether to go with the latest Blackberry or Android phone. If they come out with a top of the line android phone with a good physical keyboard (not like the Droid's) I will be very tempted.

HTC Droid Eris :: Slow WiFi Speed On Droid Eris 1.5

Mar 15, 2010

My Eris does not seem to be taking advantage of the WiFi speed capabilities of my home network. I just tested my network in multiple ways. I'm getting good connection speeds on all devices EXCEPT my Eris. Here's what I did:

1. I went to Speakeasy.net and tested the hard wired internet connection speed to my PC. The result was 22 mbps down.
2. I tested the wireless connection speed to my laptop, also via Speakeasy.net. Again, 22 mbps.
3. I tested the wireless connection speed to my wife's iMac, also via Speakeasy.net. Once again, 22 mbps
4. I tested the connection speed on my Eris (repeatedly) via a speed test app that I downloaded from the Market. Only 2.5 mbps.
5. I loaded the Speakeasy.net website in my Eris' Android browser and ran the same test. Only 2.9 mbps. So, all wired and wireless devices in the house are getting ~ 22 mbps, while my Eris is getting significantly less. Specifications:
-Eris is running default Android 1.5 OS
- Home wireless router is a Netgear Wireless-N Router model # WNR2000 running in WPA-PSK [AES] security mode. "Mode" is set to the highest -- "Up to 300 mbps."

HTC Droid Eris :: Best In Car Bluetooth - Recomend

Jan 19, 2010

These are our first smart phones so if you could help us out with some issues.

1. Oregon in now hands free and we dont want to wear earpieces. Can someone recomend a good in car bluetooth for the eris? We have the Motorola FM transmiter bluetooth for universal use but it does not really work that well. My wife has not been able to use hers yet. I am reluctant to take mine out of the box if they are not very good ones.

2. I read that video quality is much better on youtube if you press the menu button when the video starts and select HD. This procedure has not worked. I dont get a prompt when pressing the menu button.

3. Is there any way to send a message from the landscape view with keyboard? It seams you have to back out to do this with the lower left hand icon.

4. When ending a call the phone reacts really slowly. I am used to pressing end and immediately being notified call has ended. With the eris, I press end and nothing happens for a second or two. So I figure I missed the button and repress it. This redials the person and it continues like this until I exersize some patients.

5. With the seven home screens, is there any way to select what you want displayed on a screen if it had a default widget there already? For instance, say I want to move the email widget from one to the left of home to two to the left of home. Also, while trying to add people or favorites to the first screen to the right of home the boarders on that widget disapeared. Now its just a background and people faces.

6. Peoples contact faces in thumbnail size are much blurier than when the camera shoots them.

7. Switching from screen to screen, backing up, etc. seems slow.
8. How do you pop up a browser to select "home" when online. When I go back online after viewing something it takes me to the last visited site as opposed to google home. Is there away to select home from any website? I really just need a browser bar.

I think thats it. Also, my phone battery is only awake for 13-20% of the time. I heard alot of reports saying people are around 50-70% awake? Did I get lucky or do I just not use it enough?

Anyway, my question is how do I set up the phone to play in the car?I have bluetooth on my car and it works for phone calls (it drops every now and then) but I can't get the audio to work.My bluetooth manual for my Volkswagon says the phone needs to be turned onto headset mode? HTC Droid Eris :: Using Phone With Car Bluetooth

Dec 22, 2009

I have a 09 mini cooper with built in blue tooth. It worked GREAT with my Motorola Razr3m but on my eris it is driving me crazy. The phone paired initially just fine. Address book was in sync and it sounded ok.But after a few days the phone would just unpair after driving down the road a bit.For no reason I can see and it would happen whether I was on the phone or not.Now it is getting worse.I called Verizon and we did a master reset. Today it disconnected twice on my way into work.I got it to reconnect once but now I can't get them to see each other at all.So is anyone else using their eris on a car blue tooth? Does it work? Is anyone using it with a Mini.I am trying to figure out if I should return the phone for a new one or just give up entirely. This is the MOST important feature I need in a phone and if it doesn't work it is useless.I like the eris but this is driving me nuts.

HTC Droid Eris :: Bluetooth And Bump App Errors

Nov 26, 2009

I'm going to post this in the Motorola droid forum as well.I have searched all over and even read the user manual for my wife's droid eris. I have a Motorola droid and I cant send pictures to her or vice versa. When I try to pair the bluetooths,I get a dialogue box that asks for a PIN,so as it suggests, i tried 0000 and 1234.It says on my Moto droid, cant connect with Eris and on my eris it says, paired but not connected. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.I am merely trying to send pictures and media back and forth between the two phones.

Problem No. 2

We both have the BUMP application where yo can bump info between the two phones. Well as the instructions suggest,I open bump on both phones and bump them. When i do this, it says "Please Bump Again" and then at the bottom it says "you were the only person that bumped" ON BOTH PHONES it says this. What is the problem here? I cant find any help on this, even on their website.
