I only just discovered this after owning the phone since January - but you can move the text autocorrect bar up and down by press-hold a la moving widgets on home screens! To many of you this is old news, but to many others this is kickass. This is great since I was always miffed that the default location of the text-correct bar always overlayed the text I was entering.

Is there something i need to download to enable auto-correct and auto-replace typing features?
I can see in my text messaging that im automatically becomes I'm, which is great. But it doesn't do this in any other applications (only in text messages).
Furthermore, i want to add items to the autoreplace list, such as my name (capitalizing the first letter automatically), and other changes that i used to have on my Sidekick 3 (itss -> it's, smoment -> Samsung Moment, and probably many others i would think of over the months).
Is there an app i need to download? I want this feature enabled on every part of my phone, not just text messages.
Im not sure if its just me, but does anyone else find the autocorrect text typing lacking? Example I found with my iPhone that if I typed hime by accident it would change it to home. I am loving my android over my iphone. I just find that the autocorrect is not as good.
View 12 Replies View RelatedOften when typing I'll type "i" and it doesn't autocorrect to "I," and there's no option to specify capitalization. Also, it won't autocorrect "Im" or "im" to "I'm" AT ALL. How do I fix this? As many times as I click "I'm" in the autocorrect bar it does not save.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOn occasion, I'll be typing (either vertical or horizontal orientation) and I'll hit the punctuation button (not a long-press on the period) to type a dash and the damn keyboard removes the space I typed after the word. So if I wanted to write the following sentence I'd have to hit delete "I never type dashes -- only semicolons."
Why does the keyboard repeatedly remove the space between the s in dashes and the dash itself? Is there a setting to stop that? Nothing more irritating than speeding along and having to back up because I typed it properly and the device decided to intervene for my benefit.
Aside from switching keyboard applications -- which I don't want to do -- any way to get around this other than hitting delete and retyping it properly
Is the a way to move my text messages from my Mot Droid to my INC.
Can I copy them from one place and drop them into the INC?
I use the hardware keyboard exclusively, but am wanting to use the software keyboard more, figuring that my next phone may only have that. My real problem is figuring out how to move the cursor around in the text. If I want to go back and edit using the hardware keyboard, I just use the d-pad to move back to the spot I need. How do I do that with the software keyboard? Am I forced to tap the screen (which never chooses where I want it, and I have to key pecking at it to get it in the right place)?

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I both have the Eris and have stayed on 1.5. I got the 2.1 OTA yesterday morning. I've loaded it and am enjoying it quite a bit. I keep checking her phone as we are on the same contract (she's a second line on my contract), but the 2.1 OTA hasn't come into her phone yet. I was wondering if there's a 2.1 file that I would have downloaded OTA, that I can move over to her phone and manually install.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI just want some input on what i should do. i realize this is the droid forum so im probably going to get some biased answers from people, but i am looking for some good feedback. basically, im tired of going back and forth between trying to decide if i should keep the eris or go to the droid (or wait for something better). the factors i am looking for in the phone are the following:
-fast system that can compete with today's best smartphones
-longevity of the phone (meaning once i get on the 2-year, i won't regret it because something far outdoes this phone)
-best internet experience possible
-"bring it all with you" design, meaning, i want it to be an all-in-one unit that can do basically anything on the go.
-i do not want a budget phone, i want power to do things.
what can you guys say about these factors compared to the eris? im especially interested in the longevity for i do not want to be outdone by some new smartphone so quickly with a 2-year contract. is the moto droid going be around for awhile? on a final note--design. i chose the eris because when i went to verizon i saw it and it looked so much more slick. and its a beauty.....
i tried to play the game teeter the game the phone comes with and the ball wouldn't move dont matter how much i move and or wobbled the phone

How do I save it (along with the Installer) and move it to the new Eris?
My wife has a completely stock 1.5 Eris. She's getting a low storage notification. I looked at the system setting and her internal storage is completely maxed out, but the SD card is 90% available. I've mounted her phone to my laptop and tried moving files around, but nothing is moving. She only has pictures on her phone, not a single song, movie, video, etc. How do I get the data moved to the SD card?

Well, in a few cases I have saved words on accident, like I saved the word "tou" once by accident. So now every time I type that it stays at that and doesn't auto correct to "you." For some odd reason it's starting to move around frantically when I'm type out words. It's jumping up and down so frantically it's to a point where I can't select a word from the bar because it moves too quick.
My predictive text or auto correct only seems to work in a few select areas like messaging and youtube. In the android market or the google search bar widget it's non existent! you have to type really slowly and accurately to get the right words.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to enter something into the url/search bar on either the stock browser or dolphin hd (which is what I normally use) one of two things happens. Either the input box simply closes after a few keystrokes and I have to start from scratch, or the input on my screen doesnt match up with what is actually sent. Generally, the autocorrect will not be updating properly, and will refuse to even give me the option to send what I've written and will insist I go to a previous page, even If I just want to do a Google search from the bar.
Other times, it will start to accept input into the suggestion window but stop after a few letters, and when I hit return to go, it will only take those few letters it has acknowledged, rather than what is actually in the Input window. The only work around I've found Is that if I just close the keyboard and click the box again, the correction window will be gone and it will use the text I'd entered. This is only if I am in the version of they keyboard with the .com shortcut, e.g. URL entry. The fact that it happens in multiple browsers make me feel like it's a problem with how the sense keyboard is handling URL input.
Why doesn't autocorrect work/appear when I'm typing in my browser (Chrome or Default) and also, more annoyingly, when I'm typing in Google Now search?
I have tried this with both the android keyboard and with Swiftkey 3 (which I use normally). I have read in a couple of other forums that the problem was fixed in an ICS minor point update but I did not find that to be the case. In fact, I'm now running a (relatively) stock JB ROM and it's still a problem.
Of note: autocorrect would appear on the old google search before I got Google Now...
I want to cause the focus of one edit text box to move to another on editting (meaning you can only type on letter before it automatically moves on to the next edit text).
It's the "on edit" that I can't get my head around. Theres a lot I need to implement it into, so just a basic understanding should set the ball rolling.
Does anyone know if you can make the text larger in the "messeges" application? If so, can you explain how? I love the phone except the fonts are so small it makes it hard for me to read incoming text messeges.

Final track pad question- do you use it? The battery- with moderate to heavy use will it ALWAYS last a long day 7-11 for example? Hows the froyo update, is sense still as smooth as ever?
I can't see any arrow keys on the keyboard to move the cursor around in a text entry box. So, when I want to correct a typing mistake I have to stab my finger somewhere to the right of the error then backspace over the error (usually deleting a few correct characters in the process) before retyping. There must be a better way.
