I can't see any arrow keys on the keyboard to move the cursor around in a text entry box. So, when I want to correct a typing mistake I have to stab my finger somewhere to the right of the error then backspace over the error (usually deleting a few correct characters in the process) before retyping. There must be a better way.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use the hardware keyboard exclusively, but am wanting to use the software keyboard more, figuring that my next phone may only have that. My real problem is figuring out how to move the cursor around in the text. If I want to go back and edit using the hardware keyboard, I just use the d-pad to move back to the spot I need. How do I do that with the software keyboard? Am I forced to tap the screen (which never chooses where I want it, and I have to key pecking at it to get it in the right place)?

The device I am using is an Android HDMI Stick (ICS 4.0.4) which has no touch screen obviously.
My EVO 4G will freak out when I am texting. Its like the cursor just goes to doodah land. Its gone completely. I am sure others are frustrated by this symptom. Its my only real bitch about this phone. Am I fat fingering the up arrow ? If so it wont come back down. Anybody else having this issue ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne nice thing with the Evo is the always there cursor keys. I like some of the alternative keyboards but they all require toggling the ABC/123 key to get to cursor keys and then you have to go back to the keyboard to continue typing. It's quite annoying, and no matter how convenient they are (better key spacing, swype and what not), I just keep going back to stock for that convenience.
With the Evo being the first 4.3" screen, there is plenty of real estate to throw cursor keys in there with the keyboard as shown. I'd gladly pay for swype, better keyboard or keyboard pro (think that's the main ones), if they were able to do this.
I am new in Android and i am working to make an on-screen keyboard which can be visitable via arrow(direction) keys of my external keyboard. I mean i wanna move left, right, up and down in the on-screen keyboard's UI (keys) with pressing arrow keys from my external(hardware) keyboard. The key that cursor is on should be focused, when i press an arrow key from my external keyboard the focused key should change and when i press "enter" from my external keyboard it should be operated.(written to the screen etc.) How can i make this? Is there any idea? How can i make virtual keyboard's keys visitable? It doesn't look like moving around a matrix of buttons.

Has anyone found an easy, reliable way to reposition the cursor so that you can modify text you've already written? The only suggestion I was given was to "swipe" the cursor over to where I wanted it, which turns into a series of moves that have the cursor jumping all over the place. Are there no equivalents to the "cursor arrows" that let you move the cursor up, right & left?

Just wanted to let everyone know how much I love my Eris now that I have played all weekend! Bet ya'll missed me! Ok now on to the reason for the post...I just wanted to know what keyboard everyone uses for texting? I learned on the phonepad to text with T9. I was very excited to see the option to use that virtual keypad to text. I am much faster on it than on the qwerty for sure!! Love love love this phone!

everything looks okay, but EditTextPreference entries (2 and 3) have arrow-down icons next to them, just like ListPreference (1) does. Why is it so and how can I remove these icons as they look irrelevant?

I can't select 3rd party text entry types.
Go into Language & Keyboard - I see Big Buttons Keyboard, Swiftkey Beta and HTC_IME mod listed, all 3rd party keyboards I have installed.
I select one of them. It gives me a warning, I say OK, box is ticked. This keyboard is now selected.
I go to create a new SMS or enter something into the browser.
Stock HTC Keyboard.
I try again. Choose a different 3rd party keyboard. Stock HTC Keyboard.
Am I Just missing some essential stage in the process here, or is something messed up?

A lot of Flash games use the arrow keys. If the d-pad is hardware mapped as such, a lot of games will work fine with 10.1.

Just started testing my games in 1.6 and the first thing I notice is that on the landscape ones, the dpad up/down/left/right orientation doesn't switch 90 degrees like it did on all emulators before.
The device trackball/dpad will still change with orientation (right becomes up on landscape, etc..), right?
I have a Motorola Xoom and a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard. I have my tablet connected to the TV via HDMI. When I open the Netflix app with the keyboard I cannot use the arrow keys to navigate the app. I tired the Tablet Remote app, but it has the same results. I thought of maybe trying TeamViewer on phone and tablet, but thought there might be a better solution.
Is there a way to remotely use the Netflix app on my tablet so I can use it on my TV?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was smsing this morning on my HTC Hero using the normal virtual keyboard that came with the phone. But all of a sudden, the keyboard changed into something different.
The keys became smaller, the number keys are with the alphabet keys(on top), and there is an extra key to toggle to tamil(?) characters. And when I type, there is no more 'feedback' from the screen. The auto correct feature is gone too. how to get my old virtual keyboard back?
I am not sure if this is a handset problem or a software problem. When i am typing the keys almost seem to stick, i no tht is not possible as iot is a virtual keyboard, but i think you get the jist of what i am trying to say. Is there anyway of correcting that or is there a better like for like keyboard out there that i can use.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my keyboard that only seems to have started since I installed the Hero firmware update (which has sped up the phone considerably).
When I first got the phone I was really impressed by the Keyboard and the speed at which I could type. But since the update it is really slow and keys on the right edge of the screen (especially delete) don't register at all sometimes.
I have calibrated the keyboard but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
when u touch on screen in a text field, is there a way to move the cursor? or you just have to keep touching each point in the word to get to the point u want to change a letter at?
