Verizon is replacing my Eris (defective screen) with a new one...and I'd like to take my Swype with me in the process. I no longer have the September beta email they sent me, so I can't re-do that process at this point.
How do I save it (along with the Installer) and move it to the new Eris?

Can anyone grab the most recent version for me, and perhaps email it (I'll give my address if I get a positive response) - I want to see if once I have the installer, I can download the apk. *sigh*
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen you scan a qr code, the Dx auto downloads the application installer and executes it. Is there a way (possibly on the pc instead) to just download the app installer, and archive it for later use? I'm thinking about things like fancy widgets, that had to be removed, updated apps that are not as attractive as the original release, or applictions that might just vanish over time. They are all small, and I'd prefer to archive them on our PC, just in case. Is there a way to pull the installers off the internal memory of the phone?

I've decided I want to move it back so that it's available when I press the Launcher. I know where it's stored on the sdcard and I have root explorer, but I'm just not sure which folder to move it back to in the first place. which folder houses all the apps that are currently available via the Launcher?

I have downloaded root explorer, but I don't know how to move apps or set default to save to card. Anyone know? I also have an app appearing twice in the menu when i install it. Removing and reinstalling causes the same. Also, how do i delete footprints and Google talk?

Everything installed fine, but nothing happens when I swype. Manually typing works but when I swype it just shows the line makes a noise and nothing happens.

View 11 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how Swype updates its dictionary? I know it pulls words from my contacts list, but does it get them from any other source? There are certain words that constantly show up in Swype, even though I have deleted them countless times. "i'd" is a big one. I would never type the word "I" and leave it uncapitalized, and, yet, it somehow keeps reappearing in the dictionary. Certain letter combinations like "nt," "ou," and others continue to show up, even after I've deleted them. That's what has me thinking it's pulling words from something else on the phone. Is there any way to make it stop doing that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried the swype keyboard a while ago and i friggin loved it, problem is, it was the beta version that you had to manually dl and move to sd card then install.I ran into a problem a couple weeks ago, it said my swype keyboard trial period was over and that I couldnt use it anymore, and now im stuck with the default keyboard again.Is there an official version of this thing out yet? or a different one? I really wanna use swype again but I cant find anything
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently complained about keyboard lag on the latest leaked version of 2.1. I remember loving the Swype beta on 1.5 and decided to go ahead and re-download the installer. Everything installed nicely and i switched my input method to Swype. To my dismay, after swyping my first word, Swype displayed a pop up saying that "this swype package you installed is not configured for this device" and then refused to register any of my swyped words. This Eris keyboard business is now REALLY starting to piss me off. Before I break something, does anyone know how to get Swype Beta to work on this new leak? I, and my many fragile possessions, would be eternally grateful.

View 34 Replies View RelatedOk! Just a little confused here. Does Swype Lite not work with 2.1 ver.2 leak. I've followed everyones instructions and can even go through the Swype tutorial but the choice of keyboards doesn't show up when I try to send a text or e-mail. All I get is the stock keyboard. Am I doing something seriously wrong here? This is somewhat fustrating because I prefer Swype by leaps and bounds. I'd buy it from the market but it's not available. I know some will send me to other posts with instructions, but I have tried them ALL. I just can't get it to work. Any suggestions?

and I'm trying to find the swype file to use for texting.
My wife and I both have the Eris and have stayed on 1.5. I got the 2.1 OTA yesterday morning. I've loaded it and am enjoying it quite a bit. I keep checking her phone as we are on the same contract (she's a second line on my contract), but the 2.1 OTA hasn't come into her phone yet. I was wondering if there's a 2.1 file that I would have downloaded OTA, that I can move over to her phone and manually install.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI just want some input on what i should do. i realize this is the droid forum so im probably going to get some biased answers from people, but i am looking for some good feedback. basically, im tired of going back and forth between trying to decide if i should keep the eris or go to the droid (or wait for something better). the factors i am looking for in the phone are the following:
-fast system that can compete with today's best smartphones
-longevity of the phone (meaning once i get on the 2-year, i won't regret it because something far outdoes this phone)
-best internet experience possible
-"bring it all with you" design, meaning, i want it to be an all-in-one unit that can do basically anything on the go.
-i do not want a budget phone, i want power to do things.
what can you guys say about these factors compared to the eris? im especially interested in the longevity for i do not want to be outdone by some new smartphone so quickly with a 2-year contract. is the moto droid going be around for awhile? on a final note--design. i chose the eris because when i went to verizon i saw it and it looked so much more slick. and its a beauty.....
I did a few searches and couldn't find anything, so I decided to be lazy and start a new post on this. Has anyone found an application that will move all applications to the SD card to save phone space and speed everything else up?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to the new beta of swype and since then have found one minor issue. when i try to loop on a letter to do a double letter like the t in the word letter, i have difficulty doing so. I have to make a very large loop that only crosses over the letter, rather than looping on top of it like i used to be able to do. i'm not sure if this is just something to do with a setting that got changed or if it is a bigger issue.

It keeps trying to force English words on me. There should be an easy way to prevent swype to offer English (or any) words altogether. I want to be able to use Swype so it takes whatever word I swyped (swope?) in. There should be an easily accessible toggle control to allow this.

Could this be an issue with 2.1v3. I noticed another poster had the same issue and he's also on the leak. Is anyone else having the same problem or am I just SOL?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday my phone was working fine. No problems at all. But for some reason when I woke up this morning it started acting up. First, my phone would just freeze on me for awhile and then unfreeze like nothing happened. Second, my screen turned completely black twice for no apparent reason. And third, I can't even type using Swype or the stock keyboard anymore! It's either I can type but it won't show.. or I just can't type anything at all as if it's stuck.
