Im not sure if its just me, but does anyone else find the autocorrect text typing lacking? Example I found with my iPhone that if I typed hime by accident it would change it to home. I am loving my android over my iphone. I just find that the autocorrect is not as good.

Is there something i need to download to enable auto-correct and auto-replace typing features?
I can see in my text messaging that im automatically becomes I'm, which is great. But it doesn't do this in any other applications (only in text messages).
Furthermore, i want to add items to the autoreplace list, such as my name (capitalizing the first letter automatically), and other changes that i used to have on my Sidekick 3 (itss -> it's, smoment -> Samsung Moment, and probably many others i would think of over the months).
Is there an app i need to download? I want this feature enabled on every part of my phone, not just text messages.
I only just discovered this after owning the phone since January - but you can move the text autocorrect bar up and down by press-hold a la moving widgets on home screens! To many of you this is old news, but to many others this is kickass. This is great since I was always miffed that the default location of the text-correct bar always overlayed the text I was entering.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I start to type in any notepad app, although the cursor moves (sometimes to the right, often down a line or two or three first and then to the right) no text appears on screen. However, when I then exit the keyboard, the text miraculously appears. This only happens in notepad apps. My notepad of choice is "Note Everything", but I've now duplicated the problem in two other notepad apps. Im using Galaxy Note.

Sometimes when I type it wont fill in whatever field that I am typing in whether its a text message, search, or web page. The dictionary will come up as if I am typing the word but no actual letters will have been typed. I've tried with both the stock keyboard and better keyboard but it wont work until I restart the phone.

On my Mac, I use QuicKeys to set short key combinations that will type various things like addresses, phone numbers, emails, etc. that I use all the time. Is there an equivalent in the Android world?

It just shows up attached to the front of the first word I type. This doesn't happen every time, but it's been happening on a semi-regular basis.

Almost every time I try to send a text, I'll get about halfway through typing it, and the program will just go back to the previous page without warning. I lose the text and I have to start over. This happens EVERY time I try to send a sms to a group. (Which means I can't send a group text ever, which is frustrating).

I open the slide out keyboard and start typing an email, some letters (like C) does not type so I try a few times clicking the key and it types. then when I hit A the entire text is highlighted and the next character that I type replaces the highlighted text. You can imagine how annoying this can be. I thought I must have done something wrong and examined that the fn key was not pressed (cycled through it by pressing fn 3 times). No luck. I tried the same thing in 5 min and it all worked fine. I am baffled.

View 5 Replies View RelatedFor the past week or so I've been having issues with the bottom left corner of my touch screen (in portrait). If I am typing a text I cant select the letter Z or the shift/caps key. I also have a hard time selecting shortcuts in that corner. I am running the 1st 2.1 leak if that makes any difference. Is anyone experiencing touchscreen issues that may have any solutions or should I get a replacement? Does anyone think the OTA might fix this? BTW, I've calibrated my phone several times to no avail. It also happens in landscape but it shifts to the bottom right corner of course!

For some odd reason it's starting to move around frantically when I'm type out words. It's jumping up and down so frantically it's to a point where I can't select a word from the bar because it moves too quick.
My predictive text or auto correct only seems to work in a few select areas like messaging and youtube. In the android market or the google search bar widget it's non existent! you have to type really slowly and accurately to get the right words.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to enter something into the url/search bar on either the stock browser or dolphin hd (which is what I normally use) one of two things happens. Either the input box simply closes after a few keystrokes and I have to start from scratch, or the input on my screen doesnt match up with what is actually sent. Generally, the autocorrect will not be updating properly, and will refuse to even give me the option to send what I've written and will insist I go to a previous page, even If I just want to do a Google search from the bar.
Other times, it will start to accept input into the suggestion window but stop after a few letters, and when I hit return to go, it will only take those few letters it has acknowledged, rather than what is actually in the Input window. The only work around I've found Is that if I just close the keyboard and click the box again, the correction window will be gone and it will use the text I'd entered. This is only if I am in the version of they keyboard with the .com shortcut, e.g. URL entry. The fact that it happens in multiple browsers make me feel like it's a problem with how the sense keyboard is handling URL input.
On occasion, I'll be typing (either vertical or horizontal orientation) and I'll hit the punctuation button (not a long-press on the period) to type a dash and the damn keyboard removes the space I typed after the word. So if I wanted to write the following sentence I'd have to hit delete "I never type dashes -- only semicolons."
Why does the keyboard repeatedly remove the space between the s in dashes and the dash itself? Is there a setting to stop that? Nothing more irritating than speeding along and having to back up because I typed it properly and the device decided to intervene for my benefit.
Aside from switching keyboard applications -- which I don't want to do -- any way to get around this other than hitting delete and retyping it properly
Why doesn't autocorrect work/appear when I'm typing in my browser (Chrome or Default) and also, more annoyingly, when I'm typing in Google Now search?
I have tried this with both the android keyboard and with Swiftkey 3 (which I use normally). I have read in a couple of other forums that the problem was fixed in an ICS minor point update but I did not find that to be the case. In fact, I'm now running a (relatively) stock JB ROM and it's still a problem.
Of note: autocorrect would appear on the old google search before I got Google Now...
Is there a good speech to text app for the htc hero at this time? I also read that handcent has this but i downloaded handcent sms (new) and do not see anywhere that will enable me to use the speech to text once I open it to send a message.

It seems like the ringtone and text tones have to be the same volume, and unless I want to crank up the volume on my phone (which makes the ringtone way too loud) I can't hear when I get a text message. I've tried a number of different tones (default phone options and some I've found on Zedge) but none really work for me. I love the one I had on my old LG phone, but can't find anything like it.
