I'm having issues with the autocorrect bar.
For some odd reason it's starting to move around frantically when I'm type out words. It's jumping up and down so frantically it's to a point where I can't select a word from the bar because it moves too quick.

My predictive text or auto correct only seems to work in a few select areas like messaging and youtube. In the android market or the google search bar widget it's non existent! you have to type really slowly and accurately to get the right words.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOften when typing I'll type "i" and it doesn't autocorrect to "I," and there's no option to specify capitalization. Also, it won't autocorrect "Im" or "im" to "I'm" AT ALL. How do I fix this? As many times as I click "I'm" in the autocorrect bar it does not save.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI only just discovered this after owning the phone since January - but you can move the text autocorrect bar up and down by press-hold a la moving widgets on home screens! To many of you this is old news, but to many others this is kickass. This is great since I was always miffed that the default location of the text-correct bar always overlayed the text I was entering.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIm not sure if its just me, but does anyone else find the autocorrect text typing lacking? Example I found with my iPhone that if I typed hime by accident it would change it to home. I am loving my android over my iphone. I just find that the autocorrect is not as good.
View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to enter something into the url/search bar on either the stock browser or dolphin hd (which is what I normally use) one of two things happens. Either the input box simply closes after a few keystrokes and I have to start from scratch, or the input on my screen doesnt match up with what is actually sent. Generally, the autocorrect will not be updating properly, and will refuse to even give me the option to send what I've written and will insist I go to a previous page, even If I just want to do a Google search from the bar.
Other times, it will start to accept input into the suggestion window but stop after a few letters, and when I hit return to go, it will only take those few letters it has acknowledged, rather than what is actually in the Input window. The only work around I've found Is that if I just close the keyboard and click the box again, the correction window will be gone and it will use the text I'd entered. This is only if I am in the version of they keyboard with the .com shortcut, e.g. URL entry. The fact that it happens in multiple browsers make me feel like it's a problem with how the sense keyboard is handling URL input.
On occasion, I'll be typing (either vertical or horizontal orientation) and I'll hit the punctuation button (not a long-press on the period) to type a dash and the damn keyboard removes the space I typed after the word. So if I wanted to write the following sentence I'd have to hit delete "I never type dashes -- only semicolons."
Why does the keyboard repeatedly remove the space between the s in dashes and the dash itself? Is there a setting to stop that? Nothing more irritating than speeding along and having to back up because I typed it properly and the device decided to intervene for my benefit.
Aside from switching keyboard applications -- which I don't want to do -- any way to get around this other than hitting delete and retyping it properly
Why doesn't autocorrect work/appear when I'm typing in my browser (Chrome or Default) and also, more annoyingly, when I'm typing in Google Now search?
I have tried this with both the android keyboard and with Swiftkey 3 (which I use normally). I have read in a couple of other forums that the problem was fixed in an ICS minor point update but I did not find that to be the case. In fact, I'm now running a (relatively) stock JB ROM and it's still a problem.
Of note: autocorrect would appear on the old google search before I got Google Now...

I can see in my text messaging that im automatically becomes I'm, which is great. But it doesn't do this in any other applications (only in text messages).
Furthermore, i want to add items to the autoreplace list, such as my name (capitalizing the first letter automatically), and other changes that i used to have on my Sidekick 3 (itss -> it's, smoment -> Samsung Moment, and probably many others i would think of over the months).
Is there an app i need to download? I want this feature enabled on every part of my phone, not just text messages.
Following on from my frankly rather successful thread about 2.2 ROMs I'm finally going to change up from 2.1 to 2.2 (also aided by the SD card problems I'm having...) and I just wanna check something because, frankly, I don't know much about the whole rooting thing.
My phone's already been rooted, if I press Home + Power I can get to the recovery as usual, do I just need to format my SD card, copy a new image onto the SD card named as update.zip and then go like that?
I keep seeing mentions of launchers and different kernels and, well, it confuses me.
So i found a guide that will show you how to move apps to sd. So i have to paste a file to the root of my device, but when i try to it gives me an error. How can i paste files into the root of my device?

View 5 Replies View Relatedim having similar issues that others have reported of their screens moving on their own. if im on my home screen, the pages will flip to the right on its own. this isnt the only place it happens. one example is when im trying to enter text. the selection will move away from the text box the the send button. do i have a defective screen? i installed a zagg screen protector on the phone and its slightly overlapping on the top left side of the optical track. could it be that? should i take it to verizon?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android, so new that I don't have it yet. Telus wants to give me a phone and when I tried the Desire in the store I fell in love with it. My current phone is an HTC Touch Pro 2 running Windows Mobile 6.1. I have disabled TouchFlo 3D and installed SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.5 which I have customized to my liking. The Desire interface was so similar and easy to use I want to move over "to the dark side" Here is my issue: I am a very heavy Outlook 2010 user. I run my business on MS Business Contact Manager 2010 in Outlook and all of my appointments and contacts (447 of them) are very important to me. Each contact has multiple addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses. I have been reading about the Desire for 2 days and I can live with a weak battery since I would have a car charger for the road and keep it plugged in when at my desk, similar to what I do with my TP2. What I can't live without is seamless syncing of all contact and calendar information. Tasks are important, but could be lived without. Some of the threads I have read say they can sync everything, others say they can sync nothing. I need another Outlook user to let me know if the Desire can sync all contact and calendar data seamlessly. If so, what is used to do it? I have read that the Froyo release with HTC Sync will work, but nothing about the details I mentioned above.

The problem I'm having is the phone is now so slow and crashing all the time I'm trying to figure out if I could move it to a recommended 2.1 that people are now using, or go back to 2.01.
I would greatly appreciate any help, links or suggestions. I'm very new to the Android world, but as with my Blackberry, always tried the latest and greatest firmware.
I do have the BCDMRS-20100113-1639 backup file that it created on my desktop, but not sure if I just put it back in the Nandroid folder and reboot....does that go back to 2.01 or what.

If this is true, my question is: are users aware of this? This would mean that moving/installing on the SD card means only the app installation is mobile, and not the database, for example. Do you know more about actual use cases for this 'moving to SD card' feature?
I'm trying to figure this out because more and more users are asking me to allow it to be movable to the SD, but i don't want to create false expectations (e.g. user changes phone, keeps SD card, but loses his 'stuff');
Is there any method that listens for map moves or zoom changes? I know there is a mapMoved() method in the map listener interface for the nutiteq map (I'm using google maps though) so I'm wondering if there is anything similar for google maps, or if not, if there is someway to listen for getMapCenter() changes.

The spell checker is usually stationed and doesn't move when you're typing something on the keyboard. But now it moves around the screen frantically (it moves up and down). This has never happened before and it seems to be a glitch... Has anyone experienced this issue? If so, is there a fix?

before upgrading to 2.2 i backed up lots apps games using astro and app manager to my sdcard. now i have updated i reinstalled them using the same apps. thing is i cant move them to sdcard? google earth etc

View 1 Replies View RelatedI absolutely love my Evo. Best phone I have ever had. I was recently going on a road trip and wanted to put some more music on my SD card. I copied over several new mp3 albums in folders, then created new folders of the artist under the Music directory, then I moved the mp3 albums under these new artist folders. Since then I cannot play almost all of my music on the HTC Music application. I can however use file manager and go to these mp3 and play them individually (in the HTC Music App). Some of the new music actually doesn't even show up in the HTC Music players list of music. I have tried the following troubleshooting steps
1. Install different music player (called music player)
2. Go to settings, applications, manage applications, Music, clear data
3. Cut and pasting an ablum back into the root of Music, and trying to play it
None of these worked. How do I resync the music player to my new music media?
Any ideas would help. Thank you!
