Just received my replacement Eris on Friday the new one already has the 50% without signal bug and has frozen up on me today several times.The battery is discharging at an ultra high rate and my Up time is 4:04 while my awake time is 3:58 as you can see not much difference between the two.I have killed all of the apps I can see in running apps and services.What could the problem be?I am a newbie.

Since receiving the 2.1 OTA it seems that the camera is not closing properly after exiting. I first noticed this after I received the OTA update and just assumed I needed to do a factory reset, which i did yesterday.I checked it again this morning, took a pic, waited an hour and a half, and voila it's still eating battery at a prodigious rate as compared to other apps and systems currently consuming battery. The only thing I've found that works to date is rebooting the phone.Any ideas? anyone else experiencing this? My 1.5 ran beautifully and 2.1 is too, (I'm in the Frisco camp) with the exception of this camera glitch.

I bet it is super simple, but I just can't see it. Where do I go to see what programs maybe keeping my phone awake...what usage do I look at, what do I press? Also, what settings should I use for it? I have installed a few apps (google voice, notepad, swype) it shrank by 1 Mb (only) After the nightly profilactic battery pull for 1 minute I rebooted the phone and now I have 120 Mb. Where did the 10Mb go?

It basically tells you everything you wanna know about your phone including every spec, every task running and how much CPU it is eaiting in real time, it has logs and everything. I highly recommend getting this app.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, which I can't figure out yet, when I go to Settings -> About -> Battery and look at usage, my cell standby is always highest which is fine but Bluetooth is always #2! I'm talking on average it's always 25% or close to that.This seems odd because it's just on, not connected to anything. If I turn off Bluetooth it immediately drops (obviously) so it just seems that for some reason the Bluetooth on this phone eats battery life like no tomorrow. What's stranger is WiFi (which I leave on 24/7) hardly goes above 10%.Very odd. Anybody notice the same? I guess I just have to get into habit of turning off BT when I'm not using it.

Until a couple of weeks ago turning of network location seemed to fix the issue but now even with network location turned off Google Services are constantly shown as eating 40-50% battery in the general settings. I have not changed any settings or installed any new apps.

No new apps have been installed and I am only using the phone how I normally have. what could be causing this? And also the in call volume is way to low, I am a gas engineer and working on site with this phone is a nightmare I can not hear a thing. Will the 2.1 update change this? I can not wear a Bluetooth headset for too long as it starts to hurt.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup a KeyListener on an EditText widget. My code is as follows: Where mMsgToSend is my EditText widget. The problem is that whenever I implement this code, everything stops showing up in my EditText widget. Anything I type does not show up in the widget. When I set a break point in my code everything is executing as I would expect it to. If I do not have the code in place, everything shows up in the widget as I type. My understanding is that if you want everything to be handled normally then you return a "false" from the event handlers otherwise you return a "true".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new here and a new Eris owner had it now for about a week and love it so far.I've read through several of the threads here about the battery and best ways to conserve, and I've tried to apply them (and I appreciate the info I've been able to find here).I'm conditioning the battery now (fully drained/charged it a few times), have set the brightness down lower, turned off bluetooth & wifi, set email checking to 2 hrs rather than 15 minutes.My question is about the effect on the battery of using facebook and peep/twitter as apps running on their own home screen.I have each of these two on their own screen so I can see updates but is this more draining on the battery than instead just having the apps as icons and then opening them up (meaning does this mean they are open all the time and draining battery)? Also, I have 3 email accounts setup but set to check every 2 hrs. Would this be more draining than just 1 email that checks every 30 minutes?

The Seido one is larger and has a reputation, whereas the ebay one is slightly larger, but comes with the charger so that I can carry two. With the Seido, I would probably just do a complete replacement and not carry the extra. The ebay on is also vastly cheaper. <--not too big a factor, as if I keep the phone I will not cheap out on arguably one of the most important parts. However, as a colege student, the cheaper price is nice.
i searched and found nothing helpful...but i keep GPS off. i only check google maps (latitude) every now and then, but i always close it when i'm dunzo by backing out, and then task killing. however, under battery usage, my maps is at 87%, and has been for 2 days. what?!?! i don't even use it! wtfs it doing?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was having major issues with battery drain on 2.1 (second leak) and after reading some threads here I removed the HTC battery widget. This appears to have solved the problem. Apparently the phone was not going to sleep when I had the HTC widget running. The awake time was nearly what the up time was. Without the HTC widget I do not have this issue.
Has anyone ran the Android Battery Widget on 2.1 and does it create the same problem?
I use to get a low battery alert warning at 15%, 10% and again at 5%. However, now I am not getting any alerts and my phone just display ready to shut off as I am using it. Is there a settings area that I inadvertantly changed? Has amyone else experienced this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI read a few threads about better batteries for the eris, and I though several people recommended the touch pro 2 battery, since it is 1500mAh. So I found a deal on an OEM one for my phone. Unfortunately it does not fit well. Although it is not much thicker then the eris battery the corners are not rounded so the back does not fit on all the way.
What do you guys think should I try one of the 1500 generics that say they are for the eris, or stick with my stock battery?
The middle pics are with the touch pro2 battery and the last is the stock eris battery.
In looking at some performance issues for a game I'm developing I came across some interesting facts. Although I've minimised GC caused by my app, other apps can still cause one. Also, during framerate drops in my game, I've noticed things like the weather service, email checked, etc. going nuts in the background. (This is on Android 1.6).
I don't really want to block incoming calls, i.e. go into flight mode, before the game starts. I think it's important for the game to be interrupted if there's an incoming call. However, while playing, I don't think people care about weather updates, email updates, texts, etc.
Is there an interface that will let me control what is "active" in the background and what should be "suspended"?
It seems as though my kickstand almost needs some lubricant. It sticks somewhat over halfway open, and needs a push to fully open, as well as close. My question: what oil/lubricant would be safe enough to use without eating away the paint and finish on the phone? (I.E. WE-40 is definitely out). It's just annoying because I use it alot to prop up the phone and keep it off its back, and camera lens at that. It's annoying hearing it squeaking every time it opens and closes.
View 17 Replies View RelatedJust saw this on Gizmodo, it's a solBAT charger for any USB device... it's a 1500 mA battery that pumps 5V through a USB hookup. It's not exactly a perfect solution to anything (especially since it seems like it would be most useful in a car, which is when you'd be able to plug into the cigarette lighter anyway), but still: you can essentially boost your battery using only the sun, and it's only $30... pretty cool!

I've noticed that for the past few days I have been experiencing lower than normal battery performance with my Eris. I checked the battery sonsumption and it says that it is the camera that is doing it. OK. So I force kill everything (reinstalled a task killer) and opened the camera and closed it again. I always exit an app with the back button, not the home button. Still the problem persists. I noticed that while it was charging last night that the camera was using 100% of my battery. So my conclusion is that whenever I charge my Eris the camera runs in the background even after I take it off of the charger. Is anyone having this problem?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI got my Eris aroudn the end of Novemeber or early Dec. Conditioned the battery as I followed on here. Now, the past two full charges this weekend haven't lasted at all. Battery draining super fast. I easily get 1 1/2-2 days on full charge, minimal phone useage/text/basic net. Full charge this AM, two texts, maybe 5 minutes total internet and now late afternoon re dlining and low battery level coming on.Defective, shot, or something else? I was getting very low awake time, now I see it is around 50%. I constantly use advanced task killer.
