Just swapped to an Incredible and now have an extra Eris Otterbox laying around. It's in great shape, very little wear and even has the original OB screen saver. I'll part with it for $15 plus shipping. Just trying to offset the cost of the one I'm gonna have to buy for the Inc. PM me for Pics if interested.

Don't know if this has been posted yet but, Otterbox is soon releasing a case for the Eris. Looks fairly basic (thin profile) almost looks naked.HTC Droid Eris Commuter Case // OtterBox.com

I have seen many posts on the new Otterbox case, but I don't have any knowledge of them or the company. What makes them different/better than the hard case I got off of eBay. Serious question. I have used the cheap screen protectors off of eBay and I don't like them as well. Might as well go ahead and spend the dollars each for OEM ones lol.

I got an Otterbox (IMPACT) case for my wife's Droid Eris. I have verified that when the case is on, the proximity sensor does not operate at all. Take case off, works fine. Case is on correctly (there's not a whole lot of ways to have it on wrong). Pressing it harder onto my head (which one shouldn't have to do) or holding it farther away don't help, either. Does the other Otterbox case do this?

I have an Otter box Commuter for my Eris, and I love it. My one question is about the screen protector. Recently my trackball failed, and Verizon is sending me a replacement Eris. How can I take the screen protector off, and not damage it for use on the new one? Is this possible?

First one broke 2 weeks ago I don't know what from but I've never dropped the phone with the case on and next thing I know I took it out of my pocket and the face plate was broken in the top right corner. This evening as I was walking home with my phone and case on it that I just got replaced about 5 days ago I dropped my phone screen down first, I thought it was done. Luckily it was safe though again the face plate is broken on my case.
I'm getting yet another replacement from Otterbox which is good..Really wish I could get a refund or voucher to use on their site for the cost of the case.

I currently have the leather snap on case that VZW sells, the little plastic clips that snap it on break way too easily so I am looking at higher quality cases and especially the Seidio and Otterbox cases. The Otterbox case looks higher quality IMO and also probably more protective. I just want to be sure that the plastic clips will not break and let the case fall off every 5 minutes. Any opinions would be helpful.

So, another thread about cases got me looking around again and I went to otterbox.com to see if there was any news of them developing a Droid case. Much to my surprise they have, and it's coming soon! I still want a Defender case, but the Commuter is a nice series as well.DROID by Motorola Commuter Series Case // OtterBox.com What is nice about this though, the Otterbox case has plugs for all the ports on the Droid to keep out dust/ water and is made from a three layer protective material that absorbs shock fairly well, yet remaining slender. If you've ever dealt with their iPhone cases, you know how awesome they are.

As above, I am tired of waiting for an Otterbox case. I need a GREAT case for my EVO now. Is anyone familiar with the Otterbox Commuter Case for the iPhone 3GS? It was DEFINITELY the best case that I ever owned back in my iPhone days. I know that Otterbox will be releasing an EVO version "soon" but I am tired of waiting. Does anyone know of a GREAT alternative that is available NOW? The Otterbox Commuter Series offers a silicone skin followed by a tough ABS plastic cover. The link to visualize the iPhone 3GS version follows. Besides waiting for an EVO version, is there something comparable available NOW?

"Given that I am in the process of switching from my Sprint HTC Hero over to a Verizon HTC DROID Eris I have been paying more attention lately to accessories for the Eris, one of which was extended batteries. Personally I am not really sure that I need one, but at the same time, a little extra juice is always a welcomed option for a smartphone especially when you are a heavy user. That said, it seems that Seidio has two options available, a 1750mAh and a 3500mAh which are selling for $49.95 and $69.95 respectively. The main difference here, aside from the 3500 offering more juice (and being more expensive) is that the 1750 model was designed to fit with the original battery cover. And that means no extra thickness. The 3500mAh battery on the other hand will add some extra thickness, though its said to only be 3-4mm. The nice part here is that this battery does come with the replacement back cover.

I couldn't find a review on the Otterbox Commuter case for the Samsung Moment but I couldn't wait so I ordered one from the Otterbox website for $31.45 with free ground shipping using coupon code "techbargains6100p" (expires on the 31st). Delivery was fast, I ordered Tuesday night and got it today. I don't like buying things without reading reviews so I figured I'd post this for other people that feel the same.
Inside the box:
Inside the box is the case (2 pieces), a screen protector and a microfiber cleaning cloth. I can't comment on the quality of the screen protector because I had one of the "invisishield" screen protectors put on the phone the day I bought it.
Materials and quality:
*The case has a silicone layer on the inside that shouldn't scratch the phone, and has a hard plastic shell.
*The case makes the phone feel sturdy and seems like it would do a good job absorbing shock if the phone were to be dropped.
*I like the way the phone feels in my hand with the case on it, I also like that the phone won't get stuck in my pockets.
*The case has a nice look to it. The back is textured (I think brushed aluminum is the texture they wanted to give it, maybe woodgrain or a cross of the two)
Fit:
*The fit is mostly perfect. It has a cutout for the headphone jack, micro-usb port, microphone (on bottom of phone), front speaker, and back speaker. The side buttons are covered in silicone, but have raised portions where the buttons are. The volume rocker has arrows on it, but the buttons on the other side are not labeled (voice recognition, camera, but I know which one is which).
*The part of the case that goes on the screen half of the phone has an indent on the left, to aid sliding the phone open.
*The case snaps on very easily (it has snaps, I don't know if they are the same as the body glove snaps but they work fine) but is much harder to get off (not too hard, just hard enough that it won't accidentally come off).
*The main problem with the fit of this case is that it does interfere with the slider mechanism which makes it a little bit harder to open (just initially until it starts moving) and when you slide it shut you need to press the two halves together to shut it all the way.
*It adds less than 1/4 inch of bulk (possibly closer to 1/8 inch but I am terrible at guessing lengths and don't have a ruler handy).
Competitiveness:
I have seen people ask how it compares to the body glove. I did not buy or own a body glove so I can't really give a fair comparison. The body glove looks thinner and possibly less protective. I don't know what the texture is of the body glove but it seems similar. It doesn't seem like there are a lot of cases made for our phone so I don't know what else to compare it to.
Conclusion:
I wouldn't pay over $30 for this case. It will probably turn up on amazon.com for less than that within a few months. The quality of the case is good, but I think I might have paid a little bit extra to have the brand. If you already have a case you are happy with like the body glove it is probably better keep using that until the price comes down significantly.

this is just one more reason that the eris is better (IMO) than the moto droid.
and it makes sense that the nexus 1 screen is tied with the eris since they are both HTC *sigh* and of course the iphone beats all what a surprise ... heres the link:

i have a droid eris and it does random things. For instance when exiting the browser it goes from home all the way to the left and when i go to slide it back to home it stops and slides it all the way back to the left. It will randomly call people, freeze up, hang up on calls, shut off while in a call, and change pages while on the browser, freezes up in a call so you cant go to different things while talking. Ive done a hard reset 3 times and and soft reset many of times. I dont want to do a master reset and lose everything. Is that my only option if so is there a way to backup the files and contacts on my pc. I have taken it into verizon many of times and all they say is to reset it and nothing else.

My Eris does not seem to be taking advantage of the WiFi speed capabilities of my home network. I just tested my network in multiple ways. I'm getting good connection speeds on all devices EXCEPT my Eris. Here's what I did:
1. I went to Speakeasy.net and tested the hard wired internet connection speed to my PC. The result was 22 mbps down.
2. I tested the wireless connection speed to my laptop, also via Speakeasy.net. Again, 22 mbps.
3. I tested the wireless connection speed to my wife's iMac, also via Speakeasy.net. Once again, 22 mbps
4. I tested the connection speed on my Eris (repeatedly) via a speed test app that I downloaded from the Market. Only 2.5 mbps.
5. I loaded the Speakeasy.net website in my Eris' Android browser and ran the same test. Only 2.9 mbps. So, all wired and wireless devices in the house are getting ~ 22 mbps, while my Eris is getting significantly less. Specifications:
-Eris is running default Android 1.5 OS
- Home wireless router is a Netgear Wireless-N Router model # WNR2000 running in WPA-PSK [AES] security mode. "Mode" is set to the highest -- "Up to 300 mbps."

Ive noticed now, that after about a week with my Droid Eris, although a love it, it seems to be running much slower than when I bought it. I just created this thread for people to add anything that might help the Eris run as quickly as possible.
1. power phone completely off every couple of days.
2. advanced task manager seems to help
3. clear browser cache!!! - this helped me immensely. Settings>Applications>Manage Apps> then find your browser and clear the cache. do this with other large apps.
