View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst one broke 2 weeks ago I don't know what from but I've never dropped the phone with the case on and next thing I know I took it out of my pocket and the face plate was broken in the top right corner. This evening as I was walking home with my phone and case on it that I just got replaced about 5 days ago I dropped my phone screen down first, I thought it was done. Luckily it was safe though again the face plate is broken on my case.
I'm getting yet another replacement from Otterbox which is good..Really wish I could get a refund or voucher to use on their site for the cost of the case.
I currently have the leather snap on case that VZW sells, the little plastic clips that snap it on break way too easily so I am looking at higher quality cases and especially the Seidio and Otterbox cases. The Otterbox case looks higher quality IMO and also probably more protective. I just want to be sure that the plastic clips will not break and let the case fall off every 5 minutes. Any opinions would be helpful.
View 38 Replies View RelatedI happily switched from my Seidio Innocase to the Droid Commuter Case, and I have had it for about a month now. I really enjoy the case, but I have noticed that the sides of the back part of the case tend to give and squeek alot if I put pressure on them. Not sure how to explain that better, but hope that makes sense to some of you guys. Anyone else with this case notice a similar issue?
So, another thread about cases got me looking around again and I went to otterbox.com to see if there was any news of them developing a Droid case. Much to my surprise they have, and it's coming soon! I still want a Defender case, but the Commuter is a nice series as well.DROID by Motorola Commuter Series Case // OtterBox.com What is nice about this though, the Otterbox case has plugs for all the ports on the Droid to keep out dust/ water and is made from a three layer protective material that absorbs shock fairly well, yet remaining slender. If you've ever dealt with their iPhone cases, you know how awesome they are.

I'll part with it for $15 plus shipping. Just trying to offset the cost of the one I'm gonna have to buy for the Inc. PM me for Pics if interested.

View 49 Replies View RelatedI have seen many posts on the new Otterbox case, but I don't have any knowledge of them or the company. What makes them different/better than the hard case I got off of eBay. Serious question. I have used the cheap screen protectors off of eBay and I don't like them as well. Might as well go ahead and spend the dollars each for OEM ones lol.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI got an Otterbox (IMPACT) case for my wife's Droid Eris. I have verified that when the case is on, the proximity sensor does not operate at all. Take case off, works fine. Case is on correctly (there's not a whole lot of ways to have it on wrong). Pressing it harder onto my head (which one shouldn't have to do) or holding it farther away don't help, either. Does the other Otterbox case do this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have an Otter box Commuter for my Eris, and I love it. My one question is about the screen protector. Recently my trackball failed, and Verizon is sending me a replacement Eris. How can I take the screen protector off, and not damage it for use on the new one? Is this possible?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to investigate why I seem to come to my phone (without dropping it) and it is sometimes off. I remembered that I had a couple of small drops before, the kind of drop that would not have made any previous phone I've had even skip a beat. So I did a test and dropped it on purpose.
3cm drop.
Phone dropped completely flat on it's back so it landed flat.
Phone in silicone/gel tight fitting case.
Glass table.
Screen on when dropped.
Result? Phone instantly off on impact. To me, I find this way too delicate in comparison to phones I've owned. Now, this is my first big screen smartphone, but not my first smartphone. My last was the Nokia E71 which was very very well built. Evidently, it was even better built than I thought.
Am I being harsh/naive and this is normal, or do I have a delicate unit?
Assume that, I have a TCP connection that doing heavy data transmitting on my 3G network; and I walked home, Android switch to my home Wifi automatically. Now what happen to the existing connection? is it simply disconnect? or it will keep going, only new connections will use wifi? In addition, what if I walk away from home, wifi lost signal and switch to 3g? It should be safe to guess the connection is dropped. For my application, do I need to handle the reconnection or there is a auto fall back solution.
View 2 Replies View Relatedtoday for the first time /ever/ my device rebooted itself while it was sitting on the table next to me. I have had a rooted phone since before i even walked out of the T-Mobile store with it and it has never misbehaved or done anything strange. Now, however, i noticed what can only be described as a small series of chevrons or arrows that were blinking on the lower middle of the screen. Whether i was on the main menu of my home screen or a side screen it didn't matter, there they were. I shot footage of them with my camera and posted it here...

As above, I am tired of waiting for an Otterbox case. I need a GREAT case for my EVO now. Is anyone familiar with the Otterbox Commuter Case for the iPhone 3GS? It was DEFINITELY the best case that I ever owned back in my iPhone days. I know that Otterbox will be releasing an EVO version "soon" but I am tired of waiting. Does anyone know of a GREAT alternative that is available NOW? The Otterbox Commuter Series offers a silicone skin followed by a tough ABS plastic cover. The link to visualize the iPhone 3GS version follows. Besides waiting for an EVO version, is there something comparable available NOW?

I am writing my first Android app. The app is displays bus stop information i want to have a panel for each stop that the user can scroll sideways through, like a weather app with a panel for each city.
Looking at the Dev Guide I don't see how to do this. What Layout Object/ViewGroup should I be using?
I am trying to build a layout dynamically which display some text and image for the most part, but has a series of buttons placed next to each other in the bottom. I have a linear layout that carries the text, another linear layout that carries the image. And yet another linear layout that carries the buttons that get created in a for loop. I have a main layout aligned vertical that adds the text, image and buttons layout, in that order. To finally generate something like this: Text Image Button1 Button2 Button3. The problem is the number of buttons get decided at runtime, so if there are more than 4 buttons, the 5th button gets displayed really tiny. Also, when I tilt the phone, I get only the text and image showing, but no buttons because the image covers the entire screen. Layout thing seems to be pretty complicated to me, any help is appreciated!
