Jan 21, 2010I really miss a few apps I had on my iPhone:
1) What's On...(it took me a while to find a good app on my Eris, Tv Guide for the US
2) Wikipedia...I searched for this and never found anything
3) Dictionary....it was a simple dictionary and thesaurus app. Any suggestions for a replacement?
4) AllRecipes...I could not find one decent recipe app out there...PLEASE are there any I might have missed?
5) Epicurus
Are there any other good apps I'm missing? Please suggest some to me.

May 4, 2010I took a video on my Moto Droid, and sent it to my friend on his Eris. He downloaded the file from Gmail and but when goes to play the file, it states that the video is not supported. We have tried converting it to a .mp4 and it will not play either, even with a couple of App's from the Marketplace same result. Yet I thought the droid/Eris both supported .3GP? Works fine on his PC with Quicktime, and the video plays fine on my Droid. Is it because I took it in Hi-Res mode, and the Eris does not support that screen resolution? Or did we screw something up?

May 11, 2010Currently I have an Eris with v3 Leak meaning I can't root. But my wife loves my phone so I plan on giving her mine and either getting another eris and rooting or a Moto Droid and rooting. I've been trying to read up on the Droid and the different ROMS available and have some questions.First I want to make a few things clear:
1. This IS NOT a phone comparison.
2. The Incredilble IS NOT an option since it can't be rooted and I don't want to spend $200 on it.
3. I'm looking for WELL INFORMED OPINIONS, if you don't have one keep moving there is nothing to see here.
To be fair I've obviously done a lot more reading on the Eris which is why I'm looking for well informed opinions from Droid owners that way I can make a well informed decision.

Jan 8, 2010I was at my local verizon store an hour ago and was talking to the sales guy about my eris and possibly getting a new battery. After asking for the date for the 2.0+ update (he didnt have one) and the nexus one, he told me that the nexus one will in fact be called the nexus one for verizon (rather than the htc passion) and that it is already in their computer system as being available in february.

Jan 26, 2010"Given that I am in the process of switching from my Sprint HTC Hero over to a Verizon HTC DROID Eris I have been paying more attention lately to accessories for the Eris, one of which was extended batteries. Personally I am not really sure that I need one, but at the same time, a little extra juice is always a welcomed option for a smartphone especially when you are a heavy user.That said, it seems that Seidio has two options available, a 1750mAh and a 3500mAh which are selling for $49.95 and $69.95 respectively.The main difference here, aside from the 3500 offering more juice (and being more expensive) is that the 1750 model was designed to fit with the original battery cover. And that means no extra thickness. The 3500mAh battery on the other hand will add some extra thickness, though its said to only be 3-4mm. The nice part here is that this battery does come with the replacement back cover.

May 25, 2010So I have the nexus 3D gallery app installed on my 2.1 Eris. It works fine other than it refuses to generate thumbnails sometimes. They just show up as grey boxes. Once it finally does generate the thumbnails, it's fine, but sometimes they just won't generate. For example, I took some pics this past Sunday and the thumbnails are still just showing up as grey boxes. It takes several cycles of closing gallery, opening gallery, closing, opening, etc. etc. to get it to finally generate all the thumbnails, then they're fine. Oh, and sometimes they don't show up at all. Seems this app is very buggy on the Eris.

Jul 13, 2010i have a droid eris and it does random things. For instance when exiting the browser it goes from home all the way to the left and when i go to slide it back to home it stops and slides it all the way back to the left. It will randomly call people, freeze up, hang up on calls, shut off while in a call, and change pages while on the browser, freezes up in a call so you cant go to different things while talking. Ive done a hard reset 3 times and and soft reset many of times. I dont want to do a master reset and lose everything. Is that my only option if so is there a way to backup the files and contacts on my pc. I have taken it into verizon many of times and all they say is to reset it and nothing else.

Mar 15, 2010My Eris does not seem to be taking advantage of the WiFi speed capabilities of my home network. I just tested my network in multiple ways. I'm getting good connection speeds on all devices EXCEPT my Eris. Here's what I did:
1. I went to Speakeasy.net and tested the hard wired internet connection speed to my PC. The result was 22 mbps down.
2. I tested the wireless connection speed to my laptop, also via Speakeasy.net. Again, 22 mbps.
3. I tested the wireless connection speed to my wife's iMac, also via Speakeasy.net. Once again, 22 mbps
4. I tested the connection speed on my Eris (repeatedly) via a speed test app that I downloaded from the Market. Only 2.5 mbps.
5. I loaded the Speakeasy.net website in my Eris' Android browser and ran the same test. Only 2.9 mbps. So, all wired and wireless devices in the house are getting ~ 22 mbps, while my Eris is getting significantly less. Specifications:
-Eris is running default Android 1.5 OS
- Home wireless router is a Netgear Wireless-N Router model # WNR2000 running in WPA-PSK [AES] security mode. "Mode" is set to the highest -- "Up to 300 mbps."

Jan 20, 2010Ive noticed now, that after about a week with my Droid Eris, although a love it, it seems to be running much slower than when I bought it. I just created this thread for people to add anything that might help the Eris run as quickly as possible.
1. power phone completely off every couple of days.
2. advanced task manager seems to help
3. clear browser cache!!! - this helped me immensely. Settings>Applications>Manage Apps> then find your browser and clear the cache. do this with other large apps.

I am switching because of the deal Wirefly is offering.Ok first, i brought an extra battery (Seidio 1750mAh) and was wondering does anyone know a good website to sell it, also for a pack of screen protectors? I'm not sure about other sites like ebay (Never used it), i usually sell stuff online to online companies. I have a car charger for the droid Eris, not sure which brand but will it still work for the Inc? Also, is there a better deal for an extra battery other then what Seidio is offering? Jul 20, 2010The screen (near the menu button) cracked and broke off my Eris exposing the circuit board. I am sure in no time, it will quit working or get worse and since I use my phone for business and pleasure, it has to work all the time. I did not purchase insurance on the Eris. The Eris is about 13 months old and I am on a two year contract.
I stopped by the Verizon dealer at the mall and the guy told me he could offer me a one year extension plan, sell me the Droid X for 299.99 and I would get a 100.00 rebate.
I then came home and called Verizon on the phone and the nice lady told me that all she could do was sell me a phone at full retail 529.00 or something with no contract extension discount.
Dose the local Verizon dealer offer sound like the best bet, or should I try a different approach?
We have two phones and three numbers (one is an Onstar number) with Verizon and have been with them for about five or six years.
