I know that on computers you can view temporary internet files and pictures that get saved into a folder to later view or delete but is there also a way to view those files on the droid eris phone? any help is appreciated,

The plan is to extract data as needed to temporary files since the API Requires a file descriptor (as opposed to an input stream). The question is where can an Android app write files - we can assume these are small and regularly purged. I do not believe the /sdcard is required.

I can get the sound to work but no video.

I searched the forums and other suggested threads and could not find that this has been directly addressed.
Two subquestions:
1) Has Adobe, the actual Adobe company, put out a "free reader" application for Android? (like they seem to do for every other computing platform I can think of)
2) Whether Adobe has or not, what is the best app for viewing Adobe pdf files on an Android smallscreen smartphone? I need to quickly and efficiently be able to view pdf files, and importantly, certain parts of those files. For example, a couple of paragraphs or a graphic that, say, takes up half a "printed" page in a standard Adobe pdf file.
I am working on a private website that will serve all kinds of documents: especially RTF, TIFF, JPG & PDF.This site is for mobile devices, on the iPhone it just works, serves all of those file types right out of the browser. It strips the formatting out of the RTF files but that is ok.
In android I can open an RTF file from Gmail and it opens correctly (again stripped formatting) it even says "Opening as HTML" But in the browser it serves it as plain text with all of the formatting characters.I have had to download a 3rd party tif viewer.And when I click the document button it downloads the tif file and the user has to then click to open it.This is at least semi-workable. The same goes for .pdf files, they have to be downloaded and then opened.I was wondering.is there a way to tell the OS to go ahead and open file type from the browser using a set app? I have a 3rd party RTF viewer installed now but unlike the TIF and PDF, the RTF file tries to open in the browser, it just fails at decoding it.
Is anyone else having problems watching / viewing wmv files sent as email attachments? On the rare occasions that I can it usually only plays the sound with no video. Tried both HTC mail and Gmail app.

How can I get a list of the files saved to the data location of my application where this file and other files or saved so that I can choose which file I wish to read or edit. I've searched and searched for this but have not found anything of use any help will be greatly appreciated.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with my wifi not connecting. I have to AP's in my house, on different channels. They work perfectly fine. I have the wifi toggle setting on the home screen that I usually press to toggle the wifi on/off. Recently, it hasn't been working after I disconnect from 3G and connect to wifi. It says the wifi is turned on, but it won't connect to either of the remembered APs. The only way to get it to automatically connect is to go to settings and view the list of APs. Only then will it connect to one of the two APs. This is really annoying, as it seemed to only start this recently and nothing has changed. My wifi sleep policy is never to turn off. It's a droid eris with 2.1 OTA. Ran a virus scan, nothing. Any ideas?

Ive seen DataViz's Documents to Go which Dataviz say are in the android market but on searching the android market im coming up with a blank i.e. its saying no app by that name can be found. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to download the SMS app from XDA and the guy has it up as a zip file. I download it and extract it, and it's a folder with random crap in it. No apk.
Then I read that I just change the file name. I'm on a Mac, so I change the filename and it verifies if I want to change it from .zip to .apk and I say "yes." Put it on my card and Astro still doesn't recognize it. It's list, but it's an icon with a window and a gear in front of it.
I installed the Vanilla email app, no problem. Not sure what the deal is with this one.
When texting I enjoy the use of auto-complete using the glass keyboard. Except auto-complete wants to change short-hand "words" to real words of different meanings. My work-around is to open the physical keyboard and edit. Is there a way to disable predictive text for a single word? That way "GF" doesn't change to "Greg", for example.

The problem is that after I successfully connect to my network, I am unable to browse the internet, access the Market, or use any music apps which require internet access. I have verified that my phone is capable of doing all of this while connected to an unsecured wifi network, however, my network is secured. I'm not sure if that's what the issue is.A little bit of info about my home network - I have a Motorola SBG900 cable modem w/built-in wireless access. I have it setup for b/g network, WPA/PSK, etc. The strange thing about this is that I have two laptops, & my iPad setup on the same wireless network and all of them are able to access the network with no issues.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi am not sure if this has already been addressed but i know one of the main advertisements AT&T has done is the iphones ability to surf the web while on a call and verizon's inability to do so, well i was playing around on the call settings and what not while on a call and i pressed home expecting it to take me back to the call screen and instead it took me to my home screen and i thought, why not, so i tried to open the browser and it worked. i was kinda surprised. so i tried to open some apps as well and it also worked. i am just wondering why AT&T is boasting about this when we have the ability to and sprint likely has this ability also bc of the similarities between the hero and the eris.
