View 1 RepliesI am writing a content provider to access data in a zip file. The plan is to extract data as needed to temporary files since the API Requires a file descriptor (as opposed to an input stream). The question is where can an Android app write files - we can assume these are small and regularly purged. I do not believe the /sdcard is required.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know that on computers you can view temporary internet files and pictures that get saved into a folder to later view or delete but is there also a way to view those files on the droid eris phone? any help is appreciated,
View 14 Replies View RelatedI've added some icons (png) files to a folder on the SD Card. They are visible in EStrong, but not to other applications. They only become available when I power on/off. Is there a way to make the available? As I am toying with many icon sets and generally playing, it's annoying having to reset the phone everytime to see anything.
View 4 Replies View RelatedStarting today I am seeing unwanted icons on mt home screen linking to Google Play. How can I determine which of the apps on my Nexus 7 is adding the unwanted spam so I can remove the app?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSome apps ask for more permissions than I want to give them.
With DroidWall I can take internet permissions away from individual apps, which is great for all those app that demand internet access even though they work fine without it. But what if I want to remove other permissions, such as access to my location or my contacts?
There is a manual way to edit unwanted permissions out of .apk files, but this method is not meant for human consumption. Is there an app that lets me allow/deny permissions per app?
I cannot play my mp3s without one or two songs repeating over and over, before going to a new song, then the player goes back to the same repeated ones. I noticed that extra files are being created continuously in the mp3 folder. Even if I make a play list the player still manages to go back to these invader files. Is that a micro sd card or android issue. I first notice it after I install ics on my SGS I9000. Now I am JB (I9300OXADLI8).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to show a picture to a friend of mine. Opened my gallery > ehm, what is going on here? > there were no photos images anymore.
First I thought that the gallery app got some problemes, rebooted my phone, still the same. Looked up the folders with Solid Explorer, well ... all files got definitely deleted.
I searched for this here on xda and google. Well, all I found out was that it could be ROM related, or that it could have something to do with RomManager (haven't installed it though). The curious thing is that the *.jpg and *.mp4 files got deleted from all folders and subfolders, not only from DCIM and even from the sd card.I'm not here for any recovery attempts, have done this already
Well this is not all. I've got some *.avi files on my phone (internal and external storage). Theses files were deleted too. BUT not at the same day as the other media files (*.jpg and *.mp4).
So this is the pre story. Now I wanted to know what can I do to discover what is causing this problem, because what's next? Is my phone deleting all my files in a few days? For me it seems like a script that is searching the whole device for media files and deleting them. (malicious?)My thoughts were:to smali all applications and try to find out if a app is causing this to analyze logcats.Well, These options seems to be very long-lasting,
I haven't isntalled any apps or updates the last two weeks so I think there are no problems with apps and therefore will not list them. phone is deleting media files two days ago it deleted *jpg and *.mp4 files from internal and external storage and from all folders (not only DCIM) today it deleted *.avi files from internal and external storage could it be a malicious script that is crawling my phone for those files?
New to Android. I always used a app called Magicall on my WM device. I want to be able to block specific contacts, unknown number or anonymous numbers and also specific contacts for SMS. I can see I have the option to send a contact direct to voicemail but don't have the same facility for unknown/anonymous callers and nothing to block SMS. Any recommendations for an app that works with 2.1? (I'm using a HTC Desire)

When she rings me my phone does not ring and goes straight to answer phone, and registers on my phone as a "missed call". View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a stock froyo 2.2 on my device with no o2 operator logo thanks to the debranding batch file on xda developers, it's also got root. This seems quite stable and hasn't displayed the random crashing that happens on almost any ROM that I've tried. What's the closest ROM to stock but with a lot of the unnecessary apps removed?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs phones like the Desire can be online a lot, should we all be using Internet firewalls to prevent unwanted attention from hackers, etc.?
View 12 Replies View RelatedFirst of all I'd like to point out that I have posted this in the HTC Desire section because I'm not sure whether my problem is Android or HTC Sense related.I have linked my contacts to their facebook profiles so I can see thier pictures awesome.Except that whenever I compose a new text message and click on the people icon, I get a list of every single one of my facebook friends, and multiple entries for each - one for email, phone etc.Except obviously I only want to text one of the people in my contacts, but keep slecting someone's email address that they've listed on facebook, or the wrong person who shares the same first name. This is highly frustrating - random people appearing in my message recipients list is something I have never had to deal with before in my 10 years as a mobile phone user.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do you go about checking what is stored on your phones memory and deleting content? For example I used dropbox and downloaded a 7mb photo onto my phone. Can't find it in the photos app or anywhere else. Going into SD & phone storage under settings doesn't do anything. It says I have 70mb available space under phone storage but you can't click on that to get any further info. Same goes for the SD card options.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn my MediaPlayer application for streaming Video i am using the following code File temp = File.createTempFile("mediaplayertmp", "dat"); while running it throws exceptions like
Parent directory of file in not
writable:/sdcard/
mediaplayertmp43912.dat
I dont how to handle this problem, and i want to know that when we execute that code means where the file will be created.
What's the best way to create a temporary file in Android? Can [File.createTempFile][1] be used? The documentation is very vague about it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having temporary screen freezes when I want to take out my HTC HD2 with tytung's ICS version. When I press the buttonss they light up but the screen stays black. I can still receive phone calls and connect it to a PC, where the PC recognizes the phone. Sometimes after 20-30 minutes the wakes up like normal when I press a button.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there's any sort of temporary mute app. I'm oftentimes in meetings or on a phone call on speaker phone in my office, and my cell phone starts making all sorts of notification noises, so I'll turn the sound off. Problem is, I forget to turn the sound back on. I'd love an app that lets me tell it to go into silent mode, but come out in, say, 15 minutes. Does it exist?

View 4 Replies View RelatedA friend got an error on his HTC Desire trying to install an app. He uses eclipse for installing.
The error from LogCat: E/PackageInstallationReceiver( 244): Remove /data/local/tmp/my.package.apk Fail! W/System.err( 244): java.io.IOException: Error running exec().
I used adb shell to see whats inside this tmp folder. And there was no such apk. So I renamed another, but the error stays which means, that he never really tries to delete this apk, right? The same code runs fine on the emulator and my Nexus One.
For an example of what I'm looking for, hit the Home button while you're composing a message in the Gmail app. A little message will pop up at the bottom of the screen for a moment that says "Message saved as Draft."
I can't figure out how to display one of those messages myself, and I'm not sure what to call it so I can't do a search for it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently trying to create a buffer for my application which needs to be big!I mean at least 1MB but most likely to be 4MB.Now definitely bad idea to actually allocate this much on a byte array in memory. So the options are put all the data in a file. So question is where do I place this temp file?
Option 1: Store to sdcard. Might be slow and not such a good idea for continuous read/writes?
Option 2: Store to in the apps cache.I read somewhere this is fast for read/ writes. But also read before issues cleaning up the cache after use? I guess I should as if I be able to create a file in cache and discard it when I don't need it? Any tips/look outs from using this methods would be greatly appreciated!
I bought Motorola droid razr XT910 when I am trying to use to google map, it keeps waiting for GPS current location . After sometime it says location is temporary unavailable.
