HTC Droid Eris :: Browsing Internet Over A Wireless Network

Aug 20, 2010

I'm having an issue with using my Eris while connected to my home wifi network. The problem is that after I successfully connect to my network, I am unable to browse the internet, access the Market, or use any music apps which require internet access. I have verified that my phone is capable of doing all of this while connected to an unsecured wifi network, however, my network is secured. I'm not sure if that's what the issue is.A little bit of info about my home network - I have a Motorola SBG900 cable modem w/built-in wireless access. I have it setup for b/g network, WPA/PSK, etc. The strange thing about this is that I have two laptops, & my iPad setup on the same wireless network and all of them are able to access the network with no issues.

HTC Droid Eris :: Browsing Internet And Apps While On Call

Jan 1, 2010

i am not sure if this has already been addressed but i know one of the main advertisements AT&T has done is the iphones ability to surf the web while on a call and verizon's inability to do so, well i was playing around on the call settings and what not while on a call and i pressed home expecting it to take me back to the call screen and instead it took me to my home screen and i thought, why not, so i tried to open the browser and it worked. i was kinda surprised. so i tried to open some apps as well and it also worked. i am just wondering why AT&T is boasting about this when we have the ability to and sprint likely has this ability also bc of the similarities between the hero and the eris.

HTC Droid Eris :: Unable To Connect To Campus WiFi (WPA2 Wireless Network)

Apr 28, 2010

Ever since flashing the 2.1 leaks (V1 and then V2), I have not been able to connect to my university's WPA2-enterprise wireless network. After I enter my login info (the network uses PEAP with MSCHAPv2, so it doesn't need any certificates), the phone connects as expected and gets a valid IP address, verifiable with netcfg. Before any traffic is allowed to pass to the outside world, however, the device connecting has to go to an authentication page in a browser. When I attempt to go to that page, I get an error titled "Data Connectivity Problem" that states "A secure connection could not be established" which only presents an option to acknowledge the error.

Since I can't load that authentication page, the network is entirely unusable. I did not encounter this problem with 1.5, but since I'm running the V2 leak, reverting is not an option.Has anyone else seen this type of behavior? I can't identify if the problem is in the actual link not being established properly (seems unlikely, as the phone is given an IP address, but perhaps the PEAP layer is having some sort of issue?) or if it has to do with the SSL certificates used for the network authentication page (they're signed, but I'm fairly certain that the name if the site they're signed for is not the name that they've given the new auth server).

Motorola Droid :: Ad-hoc Wireless Network Support

I know there are lots of programmers out here, so can anyone put up a hack/mod for supporting ad-hoc networks on the Droid 1?

Motorola Droid :: Wireless Network Settings

Dec 3, 2009

Been running with my Droid now for 3 weeks and I'm finally going to start playing with running wifi at work (my cube and only my cube I have 3g issues ) and I connected to it a couple days ago. Our network admin in his infinite wisdom created a pass key that is like 46 characters long. So I entered it, and was connected. Fast forward to today, I enabled wifi again and tried connecting to the network and it asked me for the pass key again. Does it now save that? Is it supposed to? I would assume that would be a pretty big PITA that every time I want to connect to wireless network that I've connected to before it re-asks me my password.

Motorola Droid X :: Setting Up Wireless Transfers On A Home Network

Oct 6, 2010

I don't know how to set this up on my Droid X and Windows computers (XP Pro and Vista on the Wife's). Can someone point me to a tutorial or better yet, lay out here how to do this? I want to sync or move files between the phone and the computers, move pictures and music back and forth and anything else I desire. I see the DLNA and the Media Share stuff...I just don't know exactly how to set this up. I could probably figure it out, but I thought I'd ask because I'm sure someone already has set this up, knows how to direct the rest of us, and ultimately wants to make our lives easier.

Android :: Need Wireless Router Droid Incredible To Connect Internet

Apr 22, 2010

Okay, so I am totally going to be new to the android phone. I am so excited! I have a question, and fear it may be a stupid one, but will ask anyway! Do I need a wireless router for my Droid Incredible to connect to Internet? Or will the phone connect to the Internet like my LG Dare already does (click on icon and it goes to Internet)? Or can I connect both ways? Do you know what I mean? I am supposing that that if I had a wireless router, that would allow me wifi connection. Is that faster than just using the phone on its own?

HTC Hero :: Internet Browsing Frustratingly Slow

Nov 19, 2009

I was so happy when I was able to pull myself away from the iphone and really was hoping for great things with my new hero.I must say the hero is great! BUT Im tempted everytime I go online with my Hero to either stamp on it or throw it out the window.I used to surf a lot at home over wifi with my iphone, It was quick always a great connection absolutly no problems. Now i have no iphone and surf with my Hero, must say the worst and most annoying situation from a surfing point of view.I have full bars on wifi connection, yet it is sooo slow. But not only slow I also need to refresh the page i want to view at least 3 or 4 times till the network error dissapears and the webpage is shown, same goes when accessing the market app.Like I said the hero itself is really great, but at the moment for me it is a much more pleasent experience surfing over wifi on the iphone.I thought I was over the iphone groupie phase but it looks like their going to get me back unless maybe theres someone who knows about this wifi problem.

Make internet pages display white text on a black background and so on. Many people do this on their computer browsers as it is easier on the eyes. On computers, people just use stylesheets to accomplish this. How can I do this on my Droid incredible internet? Or must the phone be rooted for this sort of customization? Is their another internet app that has this function?

HTC Droid Eris :: Mobile Network ON - Can't See That Have Any Network Traffic Or Any Apps Running In Background That Are Syncing Data At All

May 29, 2010

My eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...

If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..

I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.

Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...

HTC Droid Eris :: Wi-Fi Connects But Browsing Limited

Dec 16, 2009

I've looked all over this forum and others and haven't found anyone with this issue. Got my Droid Eris last week and love it so far. When I use Wi-Fi it finds my router and connects with no problems. I open browser and can go to Google.com, do searches from there, etc. and everything works fine and pages load quickly as long as I stay on Google.com. But when I try any other site they either never load ("web page not available") or they take several minutes to load.

Browser works fine on all sites when on 3G. I tried Wi-Fi with 3G turned-on and turned-off, but same results. Tried clearing browser cache, deleted cookies, etc.

I'm stumped...I can't think of anything that would prevent non-Google sites from working only when I'm using Wi-Fi.

HTC Desire :: Heating Up When Internet Browsing And Battery Drains Quickly

Aug 9, 2010

I noticed that my Desire is heating up when Im internet browsing and the battery drains very quickly (100% to 10% in 1.5hour). Strange, because when Im not browsing the battery lasts for 2 days long. It happens only when I use it for a heavy Internet browsing or Market browsing (when it uses heavy data transfer). I use an unlimited data plan in Brazil. It occurs when I use the Wifi too. I looks like when Im tethering, but Im not.
Can it be something about processor clock control? Ive upgraded to 2.2 recently.

HTC Droid Eris :: Check A Text Message While Browsing Web?

Apr 27, 2010

Is there a way that I can check a text message while on the web, then return to the same spot I was?

I'm pretty sure that if I open up the browser, most of the time it will take you back to the last page you were on.

But if i click on a link in gmail that takes me to this site, for instance, then I get a text message, i cant read my text message without having to back out of the webpage i'm on and loosing my spot.
Which is pretty frustrating.

Is there something I'm overlooking?
Or maybe a different browser?

HTC Droid Eris :: Smaller Lower Res Screen Bad For Browsing?

I really like the eris for the price, however the droid has a lot of perks too like bigger higher res screen, more modern cpu, and improved battery life. I plan to root either device. What do you guys think, will I be disappointed with an eris? Is the smaller lower res screen bad for browsing? Can I expect to leave the wifi radio on all day for voip without too much in the way of battery life problems?
