HTC Droid Eris :: Unable To Send Text Messages
Nov 18, 2009My battery was giving me around six hours of life despite anything I did, so I decided to try to perform a factory reset and see if that helped anything. Well, I did the factory reset and the phone is back up and running (battery still sucks, though) but I can't seem to send any text messages.

Jan 16, 2010What could be happening when you get that message after you hit "send". WiFi or 3G is at full strength, so I don't think it's a connectivity issue. It's happened a few times over the last few days. A little red envelope appears with something that looks like a timer. Message eventually sends, but several minutes later.

Jul 27, 2010I had the phone for about a month now and not changed anything but its just stopped sending. When i set it up initially the outgoing server was an ntl one which was suprising as i've always had to use o2 on other phones but it worked a treat on my ntl. but now its only sending mails if i am on home wifi connection not on the 02 network.

Dec 13, 2009Verizon Eris here in Delaware. Have not gotten any emails delivered since 10am this morning. Also, My phone display only shows 2 signal bars and does not say 3g or 1x anymore. very strange. anyone else? I thought the 3g problem would still show "1x" in display? i do not have the update yet either.

May 27, 2010My phone has worked without a problem till last nite. I had a few texts and calls early eve with no issues at all then later on when I tried a text it kept giving me a 'message not sent' message? At first I thought it was an Orange issue so didn't worry too much but this am it's still the same? On doing a bit of investigating I have found I can no longer make calls either. If I try it it doesn't even get too a dial tone it just beeps and returns to the initial call screen.
The phone is showing full signal strength? When I go too call settings>additional settings it shows 'network or SIM error'. I have put my SIM into another phone and it works fine and another SIM that I know works into my Desire and have the same issues so it must be the handset. What do you lot suggest? If I do a factory reset will I loose all my photos etc. from my memory card? Or could I just un-mount it and then reset?

Jul 13, 2010Phone has been working fine for about 2 months with data, MMS and 3G with 3 POP accounts and 1 Exchange account all sync'd up and working. Then, on Sat at around 7:30pm I realized the phone was no longer getting emails (Outlook was chiming away but phone on desk eerily quite). Picked it up and noticed 3G indicator wasn't there. Recycled power - No change. Updated firmware to R2BA020 - No change. The APN settings are correct and haven't been changed since working. AT&T Unlimited data plan is in good standing. So, although nothing has changed, I can no longer get any data (email/web/facebook/etc.) nor can I send or receive MMS. All of these work if I turn WiFi on but not over the cell network.

Jan 13, 2010Ocassionaly, when responding to a text, the area you type in for me that says "Tap to compose" is greyed out and when I type, nothing happens. Usually requires a reboot. Anyone have any idea why it would be doing this or how to fix it? I love my phone, but the reboots take forever.

Nov 18, 2009My wife sent an email to her work email. It did not arrive and now she keeps getting a "unable to send mail (hotmail)" notification. And it wont stop. She gets the notification every 5 min or so. I deleted the outgoing message but that didn't fix it. I turned notifications off and then then on and that didn't fix it.

If I click on it, it takes me to the edit email account screen. When I go through the steps it says authentication failed even though my gmail account is fine. I don't know how to fix this. Sep 29, 2010My HTC Desire was running well but I've developed a really irritating issue which seems to have started since the Froyo update (O2). Quite often when I send text/sms messages I get the Unable To Send error warning in the top left of the main screen. At first I was hitting the Resend option all the time but it keeps coming back and I noticed that if I check my text messages All Messages box then the message has actually been sent, yet the Unable to Send message persists until I use the Clear option. Has anyone else noticed the same thing?

Aug 15, 2010Even after numerous factory resets, through both the Volume Down+Send+End and Settings>Privacy>Factory Reset methods, my Eris has been unable to send or receive texts, and will not allow me to send or receive calls. When I try to text, I get an SMS error with Cause Code: 34 and Error Class: 3. When I try to call, I get an automated error saying that my phone can't be authenticated at this time, and am advised to call #8899. Even after doing so, I get the same authentication error. Wi-Fi seems to work correctly, and my Google and Facebook accounts all sync pretty much perfectly. Is anyone else having any kind of problem like this? And, either way, does anyone know of any possible alternatives that may fix the problem besides a total replacement of the phone?

Apr 28, 2010Ever since flashing the 2.1 leaks (V1 and then V2), I have not been able to connect to my university's WPA2-enterprise wireless network. After I enter my login info (the network uses PEAP with MSCHAPv2, so it doesn't need any certificates), the phone connects as expected and gets a valid IP address, verifiable with netcfg. Before any traffic is allowed to pass to the outside world, however, the device connecting has to go to an authentication page in a browser. When I attempt to go to that page, I get an error titled "Data Connectivity Problem" that states "A secure connection could not be established" which only presents an option to acknowledge the error.
Since I can't load that authentication page, the network is entirely unusable. I did not encounter this problem with 1.5, but since I'm running the V2 leak, reverting is not an option.Has anyone else seen this type of behavior? I can't identify if the problem is in the actual link not being established properly (seems unlikely, as the phone is given an IP address, but perhaps the PEAP layer is having some sort of issue?) or if it has to do with the SSL certificates used for the network authentication page (they're signed, but I'm fairly certain that the name if the site they're signed for is not the name that they've given the new auth server).

Jan 14, 2010I had hard reset my phone earlier on because I'd accidentally locked myself out of it, stupid as it sounds. I was playing with the lock screen and had accidentally set up a random lock code which I was unable to remember.Ever since then, I've not been able to send or receive text messages. I can make calls, go on the web and and even update my Facebook status from my Contact Card. Any suggestions? I've soft reset the phone, hard reset it once more, taken out the battery, all that good stuff.When I try to send a message, I get this Error code coming up a moment later.

Mar 21, 2010I can not send pictures via text message with the stock message app, Handcent, or Chomp. I had been using Handcent for the past 2 1/2 months or so just fine, it would send pics. Then all of a sudden about a week ago it just stopped. It just kept showing the turning green circle over and over until the sending failed. I updated it, I uninstalled it, I reinstalled it. I tried Chomp. I tried the stock app. None of them will send a pic to another phone or to an email. I can send pics to facebook with the facebook app. The stock email app will send an email with a pic attached however.
