Anyone have a problem with prediction getting stuck in web browsers (default Browser and Dolphin)? When I try to enter a URL like "www.youtube.com" into the search/go form, the prediction will pop up and stop at "www." or sometimes "www.y" with no option for me to use the URL that I typed. So if I hit the Go button, I end up Google searching "www." since "www." isn't a valid URL.

what exactly does the Spell Correction feature do? I realized today that I had it disabled all this time. I tried typing with Spell Correction enabled but haven't noticed any difference. The user manual explains the settings like this:
Prediction Select to enable the word prediction feature which provides a list of possible words that reflect the characters of the keys you have tapped as well as characters of nearby keys.
Spell correction Select to correct typographical errors by selecting from a list of possible words that reflect the characters of the keys you have tapped as well as characters
of nearby keys. ...but the keyboard seems to me to function exactly the same with or without spell correction enabled.
Is there a way to access the list of all the words that were added to the keyboard's prediction in the phone? I have accidently added many words that I spelled incorrectly and need to remove them. How do I do this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Helix launchers 1 and 2 and the first one was compatible with my eris however on the info in the second on it said it will have a FC if it isn't compatible with your phone and its apparently not with my eris... but it won't stop force closing so I can't get to anything there is just a blank black screen in the background and the FC thing pops up a second after I click force close.what in the world do I do?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI noted that people have mentioned getting stuck in 1xRTT, but today is the first time that it happened to me. (I've had the Eris since 6 Nov '09, and have the Dec 11th OTA update)I live in an area with good EVDO service (4 bars / -73 dBm), so I don't think signal fade is the issue. The only thing that I can remember being out of the ordinary when it happened to me was that I was on a voice call and purposely tried to surf the web (I didn't know whether WiFi was on - it wasn't - and I didn't check first.)
Afterwards, I couldn't get it out of 1xRTT - toggling "airplane mode" or toggling the HTC Mobile Network (or WiFi) widgets didn't seem to have any effect. I sort of just "left it" for nearly a full day, and it never showed EVDO any time I checked. Even stranger is that when I finally rebooted it, it didn't solve the problem.For that (first) reboot, I had both Mobile Network and WiFi toggled on - and the phone came up in 1xRTT. I turned off the WiFi (using the HTC widget) and rebooted - and the phone came up immediately in EVDO.
For those of you that have experienced the problem, do you remember anything specific that seems to have triggered it? Was use of WiFi somehow involved?
I plugged my Eris into a two way audio jack to play music through a friend's car stereo, but when I removed the jack, it went into headset mode and I have no idea how to get rid of it. I don't own a headset and as such, cannot talk to or hear anyone I call or who is calling me now. I have scoured the net for answers but the only thing I found was an outdated app that will not work on the phone. Is there anyway to get my phone off headset mode. A toggle widget that works for the newest version of the os? Anything? Anyone

View 5 Replies View RelatedToday I plugged my phone into my car stereo to listen to pandora.When I unplugged it the headphone icon turned into a headset icon.I have no headset and now it's stuck in headset mode.I cannot hear anyone who calls me, or talk to them.I did a quick search for this problem and found some response that suggested it had to do with the hearing aid function in call setting, but when I went into call setting, the hearing aid option was turned off. I've tried powering down and restarting but that did nothing.I'm running a rooted version of 2.1, i don't remember which one but it based on the last leaked version of 2.1.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI took a long flight and put my phone in airplane mode. I got off the plane and it bounced out fine sent some texts and a call. The phone died that evening and has been stuck in airplane since the recharge. Will not go out of airplane and continually force closes com.android.phone. I'm in an area with extended network. If it makes a difference I'm on the 2.1 rooted version. Need Help. spending the summer in alaska working at a youth camp and this is kind of a pain with limited computer access and a messed up phone. Any help is appreciated.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Eris is always getting stuck on the screen with the 3 skateboarding droid dudes. Here's the story of what happened and what i have done so far. I have an unrooted Droid Eris, OS 2.1 OTA been working quite well for the past few months now few weeks ago, my battery was suddenly drained for no apparent reason (it was idle), no programs were running in the back at all it went back to normal after i turned it off and charged it. It happened again to day and when i tried to turn it back on, i got stuck on the 3 skateboarding droids. So i tried battery pull, x123121 didn't work. i did the "hold vol+send+power", -recovery: it gives me this red triangle with exclamation point, i only found errors regarding this on rooted phones while on this screen, i pressed vol up+power, and tried all the option there and nothing worked, it still gets stuck on the skateboarding droids then i held the "vol+send+power" and tried all the other options there, and it stuck on same screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo the phone has been a bit quirky since the OTA, but nothing major. However, today I was on the internet and the phone totally crashed and then began to reboot. However it has been stuck in reboot mode since then, going from HTC to Verizon screens over and over. I've removed the battery twice, and let it sit, and nothing. Still stuck. It was not charging and I do not have it rooted. It just plain crashed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBoth of the stickers - the one on my phone, and the one on the battery still have red X's. I have read that this is good. I dropped my phone in a toilet (recently flushed thank god) in the Staten Island Ferry Terminal (see, nothing good comes of traveling to SI!) and grabbed it out as soon as I saw it. I had a plastic case on the back of it. Took it apart as soon as I got my wits about me. And no, I wasn't using it - It flew out of my backpack when I turned around.
It will turn on but has this odd boot up screen. I don't believe rice will get the water out of the inside, and I don't have a screw driver tiny enough. If I bring it to the Verizon store will they know it had water damage from the screen alone? It looks normal almost like the DOS blue screen of death sort. Also, the little tiny green sticker in the lower right hand corner that says VOID - is that a water damage indicator too? I don't recall ever caring what it was.
Running 2.1v3, for the life of me I cannot get the sense widget app to change from saying "current location". i try to add a location but it wont find the one I'm at. I never had to do manually enter a city before.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy Eris this morning and was greeted by 5-8 force close notifications for what seems like all of my critical processes. My status bar shows that I have no reception, and my lock screen says I'm in Airplane mode, but if I hold the End button down, it says AP mode is off. If I try to go into my wireless settings, Settings will FC. If I bring up the dialer, that will FC. If I click my Wireless Network toggle widget, then Sense will FC. Everything is FUBAR. I can't think of any recently installed applications that might have caused the problem... aside from the latest OTA patch. This was the first time my phone has been powered off since installing the latest OTA.

I can boot it into Hboot, I've done a factory reset, didn't work. The customer said they deleted all their contacts from the phone, charged it then the next day it was stuck like this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo when I try texting in Portrait mode, it acts as if my trackball is stuck to the left, now I used to have this problem only when it was charging, but now it's more often.
Also on my home pages, it will slide all the way to the far left one. And sometimes my messaging app will lag, then force close.
Is there a hotkey for the evo to enter the word easier then having to click the green box with the word in it? I think it takes a bit more time to lift your finger and click the green box then go back down to the keyboard again to type. Or is there a hotkey that I should be using to do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've found a strange one that seems to affect both mine and my brother's HTC desires. When typing a text or e-mail if I want to put the word "if" in the middle of a sentence it will auto correct to "of". "If" at the beginning of a sentence works fine.
As a result there are a lot of texts and e-mails that go out with bizarre "of"s instead of "if"s.
I've checked the user dictionary for any matching entries and found nothing odd.
Is there a way to clear the words that have been saved? it saved alot of words that dont make since, and now it doesnt predict words as good as when i first got it.

I don't want to turn off the word predictions because generally I find them very useful but I have no idea why it keeps wanting to change 'if' to 'of'; obviously with 'if' being such a common word, it's a real hassle to keep changing it. I wonder if when I got the phone I typed 'if' and meant 'of', so changed it, but now I can't see how to get it back. Does anyone have any ideas how I can reset the prediction?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Hero to replace my BlackBerry Curve and it's a big improvement in most ways. I very much enjoy this device. One of the ways it's not an improvement, however, is this text prediction/replacement thing. I'm hoping I'm just using it wrong.
The Curve had a bunch of words set up (and the user could add more very easily if desired) such that typing "dont" followed by a space automatically changed it to "don't ". Very handy.
With the Hero's prediction turned on, "don't" is an option, but one of a few, so I have to actually tap it to replace what I typed, and then add a space afterwards. It's only a couple taps, I realize, but it happens all the time, and I thought the prediction was supposed to save taps and make things easier, and this "dictionary" the Hero adds to seems virtually useless.
I've also found that I'll type something and neither accept nor deny a suggested replacement, and it'll replace what I typed, sometimes with a rediculous word that even changed the first letter I typed! Very frustrating.
For now I've turned off the prediction option, but I like to type "properly" with punctuation and proper spelling, and adding apostrophes and other things isn't a quick process with this keyboard.
Is word prediction suppose to work everytime yo use the keyboard? Seems like mine only works with some of the applications. For example I do not get word prediciton when I enter text on the browser but it does work when i use the Handcent SMS application.

It's definitely switched on and works fine when writing a text message or email, however it doesn't work when in the internet browser (e.g. when using google search) or when typing in the search box in the Android Market.
Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? It's really annoying! I have the latest firmware and haven't modified it, etc.
I just noticed under the google search box in the default android broswer Instant (beta) is on but when I start typing, no prediction comes up. Now, I don't know how useful this will be on a mobile device, but I did want to try it out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAt some point early on in my SF ownership, I accidentally pushed something that gave me a keyboard and word prediction that I like SO MUCH more than the little black box word prediction with Swype. I didn't download a 3rd party keyboard or anything. Problem is, I've somehow hit something again that has brought the black box popup word prediction and a different keyboard back. I've messed with every combination I can think of in Language and Keyboard, but can't seem to get the other keyboard back.
The keyboard I currently have is the one that has the letters and symbols on the same key. The one I like has just the letters on the keys and a symbol button to push to get just the symbols. The word recognition I want has a bar right about where you type that gives you suggestions and you can touch the suggestion you want and it will insert (it has the most likely suggestion in red, I think).
I make so many more typing mistakes with the black box prediction/current keyboard. Can someone tell me how to get the other way back?
