My phone randomly goes dim in the middle of using it. I can unlock it and start to text message and it is bright like it should be and just randomly goes dim and stays like that in the middle of the text messaging. Has anyone else experienced this?

Right in the middle of the call, Thank God I had already given the address or the person could have died. This phone is now starting this same thing like my Evo number 1 was doing and about at the same two weeks in its in service time frame. If this keeps up I'm bailing out as much as I love the phone and all.
View 49 Replies View RelatedWhile I'm talking to someone, if I receive a text/alarm goes off/or any other notification that vibrates, the phone still vibrates even though I'm in the middle of a call. It is very annoying to have the phone vibrate while it's against my face, and the person I'm talking to can hear it as well. It just started doing this a few weeks ago, and nothing seems to fix it. I am running 2.1v1
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo the past month or two, my Eris has been randomly highlighting/selecting icons, shifting from the home screen all the way to the screen on the left, and moving the cursor around as I type, making it difficult to text or search.
I did some reading from other people that had the same issue and others replied saying it had to do with the trackball. I have had my phone replaced three times and all have the same issue.
Anyone else's Eris randomly set the screen brightness to full blast?

But I installed Nonsensikal 13.2 about a week ago, love it, and was about to basically settle on this as my default rom until Saturday. Starting Saturday my phone has become non-responsive about 5-6 times. Meanin the lock screen won't come on, and the power button will not turn the phone on or off.I'm assuming this means that the phone is still on when this happens, because if it had just powered down randomly I'd think the power button would turn the phone back on I have to pull the battery out and power it back on to start working again. I don't have setcpu or autokiller running, but I am running juicedefender (in case any of that is helpful for anybody.)

I don't need to do anything fancy with my phone but Wifi tethering sounds like it would be worth taking the plunge. I have been following the bugs and fixes thread about the 2.1 leak and the only think that initially kept me from installing the leak was everyone saying that the phone would randomly go completely silent. Does this also happen with the newest root ROM? Also, just to make sure I know what exactly what WiFi tethering is, will I be able to tether my WiFi if I get rooted and set up WiFi tethering?

All of a sudden, on a somewhat regular basis (4-5x in last week), the phone will just shut off and the only way to turn it back on is to remove the battery. This occurs even when the battery is not even close to empty (today, for example, an hour after coming off the charger all night).
This is quite a troublesome issue, and before I decide what to do regarding keeping it, exchanging it for a new one, or returning it and holding out for the N1 or Incredible, I'd like to see if anyone has input regarding this issue.
I guess I will give the background. I had over 100 pictures stored on my sd card, and i last looked at them yesterday. Today I opened my File manager, and it had expired, so I dl'ed Astro. When I went into Astro and clicked on my DCIM there was nothing inside which I thought was weird. So I went to my Albums and sure enough, It cant find any photos or videos. I took a camera shot, and it saved it to the sd card and I was able to look at it. I unmounted and removed the sd card (also rebooted phone) hoping it might jump start the card or something. When I put the card back in the phone, it had erased the one picture I just took and saved. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them? Is a bad sd card most likely the case?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've recently been having an issue where my Mobile Data randomly does not work. When I go to settings, it is checked as enabled. I have to uncheck and recheck this to get it to 'turn back on' or refresh.I haven't been able to see a pattern yet for why it's turning off, but it seems to sometimes do it after it goes to sleep. I have tried enabling 'Always On' for the data connection, but this doesn't help.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTipping I can stand all the pains of the Droid Eris, But the keyboard issue I've been having is on top of the list. The keyboard randomly stops working. I go to respond to a text, or search the Internet..And the keyboard shows the flashing line as if to type, But it wont type. I will randomly enter letters and the spell check box still pops up. I restart it, or remove the battery but once i turn it back on and try typing again and still same issue. Then 5 min later it works. Its random. Annoying. And Ideas what could cause it? or fix it?
View 9 Replies View Relatedthis is getting very irritating... I have 3 alarm times set on my phone (stock clock), and the volume keeps resetting to whatever must be the default I guess. Here's what happens: I set the alarms as "on" (check box), then open the time itself, set the ringtone, and adjust the volume while doing so (I set it to max to make sure it wakes me up). The alarm clock goes off in the morning, very loudly, and wakes me up. I snooze, maybe a couple times or so (come on, it's the most comfortable time in the morning! haha). Eventually I dismiss it and get out of bed.
Next night, I check the alarm clock set to on, go to sleep. Alarm goes off in the morning, but it is very quiet. Just barely wakes me up, and not instantly. I check the alarm clock volume afterward, and it is only halfway up! This keeps happening, and I can't pinpoint why Of course, I can turn it up again, but it is very annoying to have to do this every single time I want to set my alarm. Just clicking one single checkbox to turn my alarm on is much easier than turning it on, opening it, opening the ringer chooser, adjusting the volume, and backing out of everything. My ringer volume stays where I put it, so why won't the alarm volume?!? I'd rather not install another app, since this one is fine other than the volume issue. But this little issue is driving me insane!
On my droid eris, I keep having a problem with my Internet browser randomly closing. I have the haptic feedback on the soft keys, so I know I'm not hitting the home button.could out be a virus? Any suggestions?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm on the stock rooted frg22d rom because of complications earlier and for some reason my phone randomly rebooted. I though nothing of it. But now when I rebooted. I only have 2 apps for some reason, Paper toss and Redbox Codes FWIW. So I tried to load a nandroid and I can't get into recovery. It just stays on the M and if I let it sit there then it would get into a bootloop on a stock non-overclocked rom. So yeah. Oh and my sister took administrator from my account so I can't use RSD Lite to non root and root again.

Her brand new, out of the box DX forced closed within an hour of starting it up. It had done it a few times, when we swapped batteries. Now, mine (with her battery) just forced closed (mine hadn't done it previously).
View 3 Replies View RelatedSeems to be getting more frequent. At first it was just freezing and would sometimes return to a usable state while I was listening to music. In the past couple of days it has begun freezing completely when using gtalk or other messaging applications when I would go to enter text. Voice to Text hangs and then force close, but everything else freezes up. I hold down the power button and feel the vibration when the screen to choose what option comes up, but nothing on the screen changes. A minute later, it reboots. I haven't had to do a battery pull yet.
Droid is rooted and I have removed maybe 3 apps... I can't pinpoint an installation of something that maybe caused this to start. Anyone with similar issues? Any fix? Should I just try and swap it out? I have the newest update...
Today I got a text, opened it up, and all I got was an empty list of all my messaging threads. Everything was erased. Does anyone know why this would happen, and if there is any way to recover the texts?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo my Droid has decided to randomly start silencing itself. I can't figure out why and when I called VZW they had me do a hard reset...this did not solve the problem. I have apps Audio Manager and Screen Lock...I'm not sure if either of those could be a problem. I also use beautiful widget toggles. I have looked at the settings and that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Had a droid for 7 months and it was wonderful. Rebooting started one day after a few weeks of things getting slower, particularly messaging.
Rebooting continued randomly and the phone got generally slower, including internet speed.
Verizon sent replacement. Same rebooting.
Did a factory reset and didn't install any apps. Same rebooting.
Verizon sent another replacement. Same.
Removed SD card, same. Got new battery, same.
Verizon sent Eris. Used a different gmail account. Still rebooting.
My guess is that I'm getting refurbished phones with the same hardware issue that eventually developed in my new phone.
Well since I've got into installing custom ROMs its nice, but I hate wiping data/cache. I've gone from Nexbeast 1.1 to Nexfro .4 without a wipe. No complaints but when I drop my phone it immediately reboots. When I open it and click stuff to fast it will reboot and sometimes for no reason at all. Is this because of me not wiping data or just sucky phone? Using stock kernel. When going to CM6 should I wipe data?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy phone just randomly started playing a "commercial"? for some McAfee Deep something product, talking about phone secrutiy and stealth attacks and how attacks now start at the kernel level? There was no video playing, I was on my home screen while the sound was coming out.
I started closing apps 1 by 1 to see if it would stop. First I thought it was pulse, so closed it first, then Google Chrome and nothing. I ended up closing all of my apps and it was still playing!
At the end I heard the "Intel inside" sound.
My phone died in the middle of taking video. Came home a couple hours later, plugged my phone into the charger. I turned the phone on, after it was plugged in. My phone froze during the little HTC and Hero intro. After the freeze, it was back on, but my screens were all back to factory settings! It also asked me to calibrate my keyboard, and the little popup bubbles to guide the user with their "new phone" came up! All my apps were gone!! I lost ALL of my contacts! The only thing that stayed was my pictures and videos. It doesn't make any sense to me.

View 10 Replies View RelatedJust got my D2 yesterday after spending way too long with the Eris... so far I'm loving it, but I have one question: do everyone's phones seem to randomly open 10-20 apps in background at all times? These aren't even apps I use, like a Sudoku game I haven't tried once yet. I'm not too worried about it, since performance seems to be fine, but I'm wondering if this will affect battery life.
