On my droid eris, I keep having a problem with my Internet browser randomly closing. I have the haptic feedback on the soft keys, so I know I'm not hitting the home button.could out be a virus? Any suggestions?

I am rooted, can't remember what version. Did that finally just a month ago after getting fed up with the dialer lag.
Dialer lag is happening again, but that's not the purpose of the thread.
For the past few days, when I try to open a browser, it closes. I was using Dolphin HD, thought it was a bug with that app, so downloaded regular Dolphin. Same deal, so tried Skyfox then Opera and the stock browser. They all keep closing.
Is there anything I can do or should I just call it quits and get the Incredible?
Tipping I can stand all the pains of the Droid Eris, But the keyboard issue I've been having is on top of the list. The keyboard randomly stops working. I go to respond to a text, or search the Internet..And the keyboard shows the flashing line as if to type, But it wont type. I will randomly enter letters and the spell check box still pops up. I restart it, or remove the battery but once i turn it back on and try typing again and still same issue. Then 5 min later it works. Its random. Annoying. And Ideas what could cause it? or fix it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn both 2.1 & 2.2 I have found that occasionally the browser progress bar will only get 90% before becoming getting stuck. You can try as many times as you like to view the page but it will always get stuck.The only way I have found to cure this is to force stop the internet app, then everything is fine again. Anyone else seen this or know how to stop it occurring?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIve been having difficulties with the following 3 apps closing on their own while i am using them (not force closing, but more like someone pushed the home butt I am pretty keen with these devices but this is a problem that i cannot seem to figure out. i do not use any task killers, but i do use "startup auditor" that i have killing some stock apps like "news" and "weather" but i made sure to stear clear of anything that had "motoblur" or "google" in the title. Anyone else been experiencing this symptom with ANY apps, with or without a taskiller?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my Droid has decided to randomly start silencing itself. I can't figure out why and when I called VZW they had me do a hard reset...this did not solve the problem. I have apps Audio Manager and Screen Lock...I'm not sure if either of those could be a problem. I also use beautiful widget toggles. I have looked at the settings and that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Now if I get on my browser (stock) and then close out when I am done and go to home or put the phone to sleep the little satellite dish looking icon in the status bar stays on. I think this is GPS. Anyway if I close all the windows I have running on my browser it doesn't matter because a new one always opens as my home page google. The only way to avoid the little icon staying on and severely draining my battery is to close all windows in the browser and hurry to push the home soft key before the google page completely loads. What can I do here?

I haven't downloaded anything lately, other than the maintenance update from Verizon/HTC. (It doesn't show the typical Force Close screen either, it just closes the internet window and I'm back at the home screen.)
View 6 Replies View RelatedAs many of you know, back in October I had to make an emergency switch from Windows Mobile to Android. As you've all read in my posts, it has been a very "mixed" experience with both some impressive and downright pathetic discoveries, but one of the worst things about it (beside the complete inability to sync) is the way that Android closes your programs whenever it feels like it instead of letting you close them. Sometimes I'll be browsing the internet in Opera Mobile and I'll switch over to the email program briefly to check something, when I hold down the "home" key and pick OM from the list of recently used programs, it starts it all over again, and I know for a fact I didn't choose "exit".
Sometimes I'm glad Android "cleans up" (like if I back out of a program that has no "exit" option) because it saves me the trip to the task manager later, but is there any way I can prevent it from closing stuff I'm actually still using?
So I just got my HTC Desire today and so far I'm loving it. The main problem I'm having here is that my Internet will stop working after about 30 seconds of me not using it. I'm connected to wifi and have a 3G signal but for some reason it just stops. It seems to stop once I stop using the phone and unlock it and want to go on the Internet. I'm thinking maybe when the phone lock it just automatically loses connection or something. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Oh and it's the Telus version running on Fido.

This is all working as advertised. Is it possible to close the browser after I've navigated back to my app via the redirect? Perhaps a flag to set when starting the Intent that forces the browser to close or, at the very least, be removed from the stack so it's not visible when a user quits my application?

First time, I was editing the Calendar, second time I was viewing my photo album. Most recently, I had the phone in my pocket with music player playing and the phone just stopped working. Battery level wasnt low and I had to remove the battery and reinsert it to get the phone going again for each of those times. The phone might have crashed but idk, this never happened before the past few days (Ive been using it for 2.5 months now)

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor about a week now the Internet is not accessible randomly on my phone. Either a site will not load at all, or I will get a partial page. Either way, something is messed up. I've called Verizon about this a few times and they can't figure it out. They had me check some settings on my phone, checked my version, done the #228 thing, checked the towers. Now they say that the only other options are to replace my phone or reset the whole thing to factory.
I've been through too many phones. I'm done with switching phones and resetting them. And I can't believe that it's the phone or Google as the last person suggested. I use a lot of data. I'm up to 1GB right now and still have 19 more days in the billing cycle. I think they are throttling my connection.
Anyone experience an issue with browser closing itself out when trying to acess a website via bookmarks ? happened 2 times in a short span and can turn out to be a p.i.t.a if it continues.

All of a sudden, on a somewhat regular basis (4-5x in last week), the phone will just shut off and the only way to turn it back on is to remove the battery. This occurs even when the battery is not even close to empty (today, for example, an hour after coming off the charger all night).
This is quite a troublesome issue, and before I decide what to do regarding keeping it, exchanging it for a new one, or returning it and holding out for the N1 or Incredible, I'd like to see if anyone has input regarding this issue.
My friend doesn't want the browser to keep any history. He's tired of clearing it!. I think he may use this phone for pron sometimes and when the GF reaches for the phone in the morning to check the weather, fooking autocomplete gives him away. Then he has to deal with being in the doghouse until next morning when she sees it again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have read a number of the posts on this board and tried to condition my new phone for best battery life, etc. and haven't added many apps yet. However a few of them keep crashing ALL the time and it's really annoying. Particularly Google Talk and Gmail, the native apps that I didn't install. I will open them up, press one button (on an email or a name) and then it will just close back to the home screen. It will do this five or six times in a row before it lets me use the app. I have been using task panel but have both apps on the "ignore" list so I don't think that should make a difference, and come to think of it it did that before I installed task panel. The phone is literally three days old.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to adjust the volume (ringer/media/navigation) I press the button and sometimes it's okay but mostly nothing will happen for up to 5 seconds and then all of the sudden it'll catch up and shoot right to the end. If I press it repeatedly instead of holding on, it normally takes a few presses before the first adjustment then it'll work pretty much okay but it might do a few moves then stop again randomly. The most annoying time is when I'm on the phone and I can't hear what's being said! I do not want to install a volume control app.

Im using the Handscent app for text messaging. However over the last week or so when i go to open a new message, the application freezes and shuts down. When i go to open it again all my messages are deleted. They are also missing in the standard messaging app that came with the phone.
Has this happened to anyone else? If it did did you find a way to stop it happening?
I've had an issue w/ my Internet browser closing on me for quite a while. It just closes down to where ever I was before the Internet was launched, w/o a "force close" message box. This has happened across many diff ROMs, many diff browsers, and many diff kernels. Hell, it's been happening since at least 2.1 and perhaps 2.0.1. I've tried clearing caches, wifi, lowering the kernel MHz, yet the issues still persist. Sometimes it happens instantaneously upon opening, sometimes it waits till I'm enjoying surfing away from my pc.
